One of the most under rated songs period. This and Iris from the Goo Goo Dolls have always held a special place for me. And I grew up on The Clash, Siousxie, Black Flag and Dead Kennedys.
This is so BADASS. I used to work at a pizza place back in the day and I used to date one of the waitresses and when we would close for the night we would play the jukebox in the dining room and just hang out in one of the booths and talk way into the night. I would ALWAYS put this song as one of my selections. Love it. And love the video. Thanks.
I finally bought the album it was so rare to find thank God for Amazon being a thing because I bought bush sixteen stone Pearl jam ten two of the best albums in my opinion
Always makes me think of a girl from my past. The love is there, or was, or maybe will be. I dunno. Life is weird, man. This song makes me think of a beautiful dream you try to make yourself fall back asleep to catch, but you know you can’t. Even though the moment is gone, the dream is still a beautiful one.
His description of making love to her is one of the most poetic things i have heard in modern music. He uses the "alien" imagery to express how he feels they are the same, and don't belong anywhere but with each other. This is how you make music ladies and gentlemen.
“Often a man wishes to be alone and a girl wishes to be alone too and if they love each other they are jealous of that in each other, but I can truly say we never felt that. We could feel alone when we were together, alone against the others. But we were never lonely and never afraid when we were together.” ― Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms
Bush really hits home for me with this song. The lyrics, composition it is a timeless piece never heard on satellite or radio. I wish it was played publicly . Fills me every time I play it.
"Be-long-ing" in the now, still... Today, 5 yrs later & your reply hit me HARD. I LOvE that. So much talk-talk & nothing notable is said. Not true of U, Olivavu! Your words, they have been heard, felt, & noted. Noted in my eather of time. THOSE WERE THE DAYS-Fearless, beauty, unaware of BEING YOUTHful. PS I hope you receive this message. Your words have moved me
I have started listen Bush's songs since this afternoon and I am already in love with this song. I have listened that about ten times. It is amazing how a great song of fifteen years ago can exite so much even now. I am twenty year old, so I haven't lived the 90's years but with these songs I can still feel they. Wonderful.
beautiful video! my son is getting married in august and i want this song played for him and his wife to dance to. 20 some years ago i was watching tv and a new band called Bush had a video called "Everything Zen." My son was 10ish at the time and i grabbed him and had him watch it with me. we both have been avid Bush fans since! This is my first favorite love song next to Pearl Jam "Black."
Me & my son's story is similiar to yours. When we heard 10 we knew there was no his music and my music. It was our music. For the rest of his life we went to concerts together. Best times of my life. Sadly he passed at 34. But i still have our music.
Total Nostalgia. Recall in 99 taking a trip from NYC to North Carolina playing this song repeatedly while on a dark road. Lyrics, Gavin's Powerful Low Vioce. Subtle guitar and bass Tone was Definitely (OOTW) Out Of This World.
If I could go back to 18 in that third floor bedroom with the only girl I ever loved with this song playing and our only light from the stereo - I would give anything to change the outcome. GREAT SONG!........
You did a really nice job with that video, i like it, when i was 14 i discovered this song at the end of sixteen stone and used to get stoned and fantasize about the one i never got, bittersweet feeling but aging you made this visually pleasing.
There's this girl I like. Ive known her my whole life, and Im 25 now. Shes always been the greatest friend anybody can ask for, and recently I began to have feelings for her. Shes the only person who knows everything about me, shes the only person who has been there when I needed a shoulder to lean on. I can literally tell her anything, everything, and I know I can count on her. As awesome as that is, it pains me to know Ill never truly be able to call her mine. She has dated this one guy, who sometimes doesnt even treat her right, for like 10 years, and now theyre engaged. Im happy for her, and him, and all I can do now is just be as good of a friend to her as shes been to me. I wish I could call her mine, and this song reminds me that maybe im just an alien to her. One day, someday, Ill find a girl half as great as her. Hopefully soon. Hopefully it could be her one day.
Sometimes they break your heart, but it's always the next one that changes everything. At 25, you still have two thirds of your life left (roughly) and in another ten years it will all be so different. I had one break mine, has three of our kids.. It will get much more complicated later on. Just remember that as bad as life is right now, it will probably get worse. And then we die. Sorry that I'm not very uplifting, just trying to be realistic. Life has its ups and downs, but it seems to have a lot more downs than ups. Me, I've just accepted that all I can do is blaze, flip the bird and say ftw. Nothing we do really matters anyway, right? Okay, enough of this pep talk, cheer up guy.
It's possible and likely she may have the same feelings. Let her know how you feel while this song plays in the background. It'll be like something straight out of a movie! xD. Very interesting comment btw on your take of how she sees you as "alien" like. Interesting...
This is a wonderful song with an equally wonderful put together set. I remember this song so fondly whilst my son was only 2 years old (he is now 16) just before his dad left us. But hey, things happen for a reason and we are far happier now than ever before. lol
Good video. That's always been my favorite song by Bush. Don't know why since they had so many other "more popular" tunes but that's my fav for sure. Good job dude!!!!
i love this but i'd really love to see an updated version of the video you put together. i feel like since this was 10 years ago the picture would be way better now with newer tech. maybe some even clearer universe images would be available. can't wait to see it if you do another!
Great job! Thanks for getting all the lyrics correct, so many don't. I'm so glad the band, BUSH, is back in action as of 2010 ! New music from them coming soon, be on the lookout if you can appreciate REAL music. February, 2011
Thank you for not letting me back out to night ,you made me laugh more then I have in long time.I can't stop thinking about you .If it had not been for this song ,I don't know if i would have had the nerve to kiss you .I hope you had a good time tonight and next time you pick the movie..

Probably the most underrated bush song that deserved more credit. This ballad is solid and for some reason just represents the 90s for me.
One of the most under rated songs period. This and Iris from the Goo Goo Dolls have always held a special place for me. And I grew up on The Clash, Siousxie, Black Flag and Dead Kennedys.
Bomb I think is off 16 stone or like 250 lbs in America ?
wow someone gave acknowledgement to bush alien im very impressed it was probably one of the best bush songs that never got enough credit

I enjoyed your story.
If you grew up in the 90's, Bush was one band you'll always remember. And if you know Bush, you remember this song. Probably the best off of 16 Stone.
David Repasky yass 1 of the best songs off sixteen stone
I finally bought the album it was so rare to find thank God for Amazon being a thing because I bought bush sixteen stone Pearl jam ten two of the best albums in my opinion
the last track on the album 💔
David Repasky it was my first CD mom ever bought me
i didn’t grow up in the 90s but i was brought up listening to 16 stone. gives me goosebumps
that opening bass line.... goosebumps everytime. It makes me feel like I'm floating in space and nothing else matters

one of the most underrated songs on this album.
This song is so underrated. Not just in bush terms but music in general. I always thought this was the best song Gavin ever wrote.

Dallas Coryell yeah
+Dallas Coryell I agree. This is my favorite song by Bush, and it's because of the way its written. It fills my mind with beautiful images.
I want to play it louder!
Shame he didn't feel making love to Gwen was poetic.
