    I paid $485 for a 120ah lithium with a battery box on kings one day sale! I love it! power's my fridges, my camp boss lights. I modified the battery box and fitted a Victron smart shunt and Victron solar controller that is hooked up to 400 watt panels.

      thats an awesome idea, new to this and yeah pretty much going to do the same with a kings battery box, what size solar controller would you recomend? and are those two things just wire in and good to go?
      cheers

    Thanks for a very informative review. I have had the VoltX 100Ah battery in my camper for over a year. Last year we drove Melbourne to Darwin and back - 10,000Kms over 2 months including several nights off grid and 100s of Kms corrugated roads. The Voltx never missed a beat powering a 75L dual zone fridge in tropical conditions.

    I have two 100amp voltex hooked up for a 24 volt electric outboard.Ive owned them for 2 years 1 month.Was showing 82 % so I hooked up my ctek charger to top them up for a trip.Came out to disconnect the next day and the display showed 0 percent.
    I've probably charged these batteries 4-5 times in 2 years.Never fully discharged.
    Looks like the CAT batteries are going back in that I pulled out.

    Every Lithium has a BMS, it's an integral part of how a Lithium battery is made, they are made up of multiple cells and the individual cells are controlled via the BMS, the Kings batteries are hit and miss, some are assembled ok, some are not. I would choose the VoltX any day over the Kings, to rate a lithium quality, it's not from a simple shake, you need to look at the life Cycles, the Volt X has 4000 cycles at 80% DOD, the kings has 2000 Cycles, The Atempower also has a 2000 cycle DOD, so the Volt X is definitely a better buy as it has twice the life in cycles as either of the other two batteries, more cycles means longer life.

      @@budget4x4life I run Renogy CORE batteries, they have a 5000 cycle DOD Life with 5 year warranty, currently $549 for 100Ah so these are even better than the VoltX for Value / warranty, two weeks ago they had a sale $800 for 200AH PRO with 5000 cycle DOD 5 year warranty, they have been making lithium batteries for over 10 years, quality is very good, much better than any of the ones you mentioned.

    When it is really hot and temperatures are 42 -48 degrees ambient and the lithium is taking strain, being used and charged. the BMS decides its too hot and shuts down the battery, then you have nothing. so if you tour Africa in the summer like we do. stick to the AGM, no fancy electronics and it just works and its reliable, At this point all the advantages of lithium are worthless

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  8 месяцев назад +1

      I will disagree with you mate. Lithium is a much more superior battery and in Australia those degrees are normal over summer and battery still works just fine. Has 100% usable energy where an agm only has 50%. Add heat to it and will be even more inefficient...this is when my camping fridge cut out as the agm couldn't handle it 🙂

    Its no wonder you run out of power threw the night if you only charging to 12 volts .. You only chaging to 50% capacity... As soon as you said that i lost interest in everything else you had to say ..

    • @budget4x4life
      @budget4x4life  5 месяцев назад

      You're don't understand mate. It's fully charged but furing the night the voltage drops to 11v then the fridge cuts out. The agm battery would only use 50% capacity before it's no good. Lithium you can use from 100% to 1% and will stay over 12v 💯

    • @samhaveaguess4284
      @samhaveaguess4284 5 месяцев назад

      @@budget4x4life The myth of AGM only being able to use 50% of capacity is a bogus claim pushed by sellers of Lithium batteries.. You can use 100% of an AGM capacity but it will dramatically impact the lifespan of the battery.. The same thing happens to Lithium as well but much less dramatically.. And if you Charging your AGM to 12 volts ..That is not fully charged ..That only 50% A fully charged AGM is between 12.8 to 13.2 volts .. A brand new AGM will generally sit at 13 volts fully charged.. I'm thinking your AGM is completely stuffed and you have made a smart choice in upgrading to Lithium.. I'm just stating there is nothing wrong with a good AGM in good condition.. I have a Full River 120ah .. It is 10 years old .. And sits at 12.8 fully charged . And runs my fridge for 2 days without any or minimal charge .. When new and for the first 5 years of its life it always sat charged at 13 volts . So the now 12.8 maybe the first signs of showing its age ... When it dies I will definitely be upgrading to the Lithium world ..
