HAHA coulndt agree more. Just when you think you have a flush mounted latch and all ok... it wasnt quite as flush as you thought and had to begin again :)

Great video and thank you for making it. Is anyone else having issues seating the lock in the KTM paniers once the lock is assembled?
Hello mate. Thanks for the feedback on the clip. I gotta say every lock unit I’ve had to fine tune the lock block (actual lump of metal that turns) as mine never seated without difficulty. Needed to use an angle grinder to round off a little and taper. Instead of just leaving like a squared off block (edges)
@@RicardoYeep that makes sense. I didn't see any friction marks on barrel so I wasn't sure what the issue was. I got one to set yesterday on one case so I know it's assembled correctly. I will do what you said and work the second one till it fits correctly. Thank you for the reply and the suggestions.
I finally got the lock mechanism into the case. I tried filling it in a few spots but just ended up knocking it in with a hammer lol.

Now regarding the key. I had this from KTM as a complete purchase of the top box and pannier set. And included lock barrels. You would need to have a word with your dealer about the key if they haven’t given you a key to go with the lock 🤦♂️ hopefully not another dealership balls up! I was missing two lock Barrels!!
Needs 3 lock barrels per Touratech pannier and 2 lock barrels for the top box

Just received the full set of luggage and received 6 barrels. How many sets of keys did you receive? Should there be 3 - one set for each box?
Hello mate! Congratulations on the bits. If you have the full touratech luggage the. You should have 2x locks for the top box and 3x locks for EACH pannier. So in total you should have 8 barrels/locks.
Each pannier has a lock either side as it’s dual opening. And a lock on top to secure it to the pannier rail.
The top box has a lock to open it and a lock to secure it to the mount 👍
Only 2 keys though 👍

Dose this mean if you buy the Ktm version of the panniers you can use the key that’s integrated in the phob or do you get a spare key with them?
Unfortunately am unsure about that one mate. I'd have to find out. I'm only showing how I coded my own locks 👍
When I bought the pannier set here in Australia I got two keys with it.
Did the cylinder turn b4 putting any pins in? I've done my best but neither without any pins installed or done per instructions will the cylinder turn? help
Hello there and thank you for dropping a message! Sorry to hear you are struggling.
I never tried turning the lock before inserting the pins so I can't say for sure.
However I had to try a couple of times as you have to be 100% sure you have the correct pins in.
Unless all pins are 100% flat with the barrel it won't work.
Sometimes one will look flat but it is not flat enough. You should not be able to feel any pin on the lock barrel when pulled in with the key.

I had 5 size pins, 3 of each # and the pins numbered 5 were shorter than 1 thru 4 and I ran short a pin of a number I can't remember and put a 5 in which sits a little inset on both sides otherwise all are flush, currently using a 3/8 extension as a key. I did appreciate the video and your replies, maybe i have to order the one i'm short.
@@scwlw2169 ah I see.. yes the specific number has to be used. I couldn't believe it myself when I used a wrong one as to me it looked as close to level you could get when pulled in. But when I eventually used the correct one I understood.. just half Mil makes the difference between it working and not. Was quite surprised.

Mine has no key
Hello mate. From memory it might be due to the topbox you were sold. The 790/890 Adventure top boxes are identical in every way. However the ktm part number will be different from a 1290 Adventure part. The reason is that the 1290 ADV as you know is keyless so the topbox comes with key.
But as the 890 already has keys the pack contains only a lock barrel in which gets coded to the bikes own key.
In short I maybe wrong but you probably have to order a key at minimal cost. And then code it to the lock barrel. 👍
