I always love seeing these videos with George and his dad. Beyond the great perspective George’s dad offers, it’s nice to see a father and son bonding over movies. It’s something my dad and I do whenever we can, and it’s really great to see others sharing that too.
The videos of George and his dad are the best. I remember watching this movie with my dad back in the 90’s. He passed away a few years ago, and some of my fondest memories were just me and him hanging out together, watching movies, playing games, fixing cars, etc. They always tell parents to enjoy their kids while they can. The same goes for kids enjoying their parents.

I remember when this movie came out, my dad gave me the option of going to an amusement park or T2. I chose T2 and it's still one of my core movie going memories. When you find out that Arnold is the good guy my little kid mind was blown.
The parallel of Sarah going after Dyson basically becoming like a terminator is a pretty cool choice. Also, the helicopter under the overpass stunt is probably my favorite in cinema. Your father was dead on saying he is pooling together like mercury, because that's what they used for that shot. Next 3 films you're doing and it will take a long time to translate. Dare I hope for LotR? Heck maybe even Star Wars?

The thing I love about T2 is how it works on so many different levels - if you want to analyse it from a technical/special effects viewpoint, there's so much to work with. If you want to explore the time travel themes of predetermination vs self-determination, fate, time loops, etc, then go for it. If you're a film geek wanting to look at the cinematography and the filmmaking side of things, again, there's so much material. If you just want to sit back and watch an awesome action movie, you're covered again.
Two years ago during a visit to California, I stopped by one of the locations where the movie was filmed. The scene during the first chase where the truck smashes through the barrier and dives into the water spillway as it chases after John on his dirtbike. Luckily, there are street signs visible in a couple of the shots so a person would be able to find the intersection without difficulty. I also visited the office building in "Die Hard". Took lots of photos.
Isn't the water spillway literally just the LA river? It's just been channeled to flow where the city wants it to, and there's little water ... because California. Watched a video where some Australian gaming streamers did an LA GTAV tour, that was pretty sweet. They recreated a scene at the observatory 😋

Fun Fact: Both Linda Hamilton and the Security guard getting coffee in the institution have twin siblings, so their twins were used in the movie when both Sarah and the guard were on screen with their duplicates. No camera tricks needed for those scenes. Sadly, Leslie Hamilton Gearren passed away in 2020 from cancer, but while not officially an actress and was a nurse in real life, she had a pretty neat screen presence in one of the greatest movies ever! Also, you have to give a lot of credit to Robert Patrick, his performance made the T-1000 an intimidating villain despite being half of Arnold Schwarzenegger's size.
Robert Patrick trained himself to shoot a gun without blinking, and to sprint without visibly breathing, as he reasoned that a robot would do neither of those things. Fantastic performance. The production crew refused to shoot the freeway scene with the helicopter because it was so dangerous, there was only like 5 feet of clearance above and below, thinking this would dissuade Cameron from doing it, but he said fuck it, grabbed a camera, and shot it himself. The pilot was a veteran Vietnam chopper pilot, so he knew what he was doing (was the dude the T-1000 told to GET OUT) :P The T-1000 does get damaged, every time he takes damage it futzes with the nanobots that make up his form, you see this after he reforms after being frozen, he starts involuntarily mimicking things he's touching like the hand rail and the floor grating (which is how John knew which Sarah was the real one). With enough big damage and having to constantly reform he'd eventually fail, but it would take a long time.

When my family moved to Germany from a small Turkish town I was 5. one of the first movies I saw on TV after we arrived was this. I couldn‘t understand a thing that was said but I just knew I was watching something remarkable. Amazing how it can break language and cultural barriers worldwide. One of my favourite movies ever since.

Now that I think about it, there's no reason a cyborg would wear sunglasses at night. (And now I'm singing that song in my head.) I mean, sure the Terminator can turn on his night vision, but why would he do that when he can just take his sunglasses off? I guess I appreciate that it looks cool. And that he's trying to obfuscate his face. He wore sunglasses at night in the first one because his eye was all screwed up. What I really don't get is how so many people say this is their favorite of the two first movies. It's like saying Vanilla Coke or Cherry Coke is better than Coke. What would Vanilla Coke or Cherry Coke be without the Coke part? Yes, I often pick Vanilla Coke or Cherry Coke over regular Coke, but I would feel silly to say that I prefer it. And sometimes you just want a regular Coke. The Terminator ran so T2 could fly.
There is a fascinating subclass of monsters which show off the faces of their victims. At the end of the original 1960 dark comedy movie Little Shop of Horrors, the now tree-sized man-eating plant blooms, and each blossom shows a victim's face, including Seymour Krelborn's. At the end of the original Outer Limits episode, It Crawled Out of the Woodwork, the Energy Being flashes the faces of its victims. The T-1000 seems to be honoring that rare horror tradition.

Actually when really hot meets really cold it’s never good and could cause a massive explosion. But somehow the liquid nitrogen never met the molten steel. So Dad was sort of correct.
I love watching these reactions and seeing George's dad predict some things way before they happen, and miss other things and then get such an excited expression. Especially that one-handed reload scene under the bridge, "So cool!", mirrors 10-year-old me's expression too!

I don't understand how so many people don't get the purpose of licking over Sarah's face. He is checking (in a sick way) if she is actually apathetic or just simulating. When simulating, you'd have at least some sort of reaction. (Sarah doesn't, because she has spent years conditioning herself at that point.) I remember going to see this movie with my dad when I was 9, in a theater that no longer exists. I think it's the first R rated movie I ever saw. Even though my dad has been gone a few years, it still feels like yesterday. Happy for you to have this moment, George.
When they reset his chip so he could learn... he became self aware. Allowing him to refuse Johns order and sacrificing himself against his programming... as he learned that was the "best" choice to make.

11:34 what I like about this explosion is that there is a cause to the initial fire. Cars generally don't explode when they're in accidents otherwise it would happen every day. Hear the cause of the explosion is an electrical cable shorting out. And the truck is probably running on diesel so it's not very flammable it takes a significant source of ignition, plus there was a lot of diesel vapor in the air. This one actually makes more sense than when a car drives off a cliff and explodes in midair for no reason.
Thing I realized 36 years after watching Terminator: John Connor has had a single focus all his adult life and it's not creating a resistance and fighting Skynet but rather to locate Skynet's time machine and then setting up a date with his parents. He's basically cheating using Biff's Sport Almanac. I'm ignoring later movies.

They also had to film that bit in the garage many more times than they'd planned because, having trained so intensely for the role that he'd become such a fast sprinter, Robert Patrick kept catching up to the bike.
He's breathing, he's just breathing through his nostrils instead of his mouth (so his training was to do so with less oxygen intake, enhancing the dramatic effect of his stoic performance!). It's tough, and beneficial for your cardio in the same way that training at altitude is - training your muscles to do more with less oxygen.

Hi to George's dad. It was a great reaction. I've seen this movie 100 times I'm sure, but it's always interesting to get the impression of someone who is totally new to it. Linda Hamilton is just terrific in this one. The intensity of her performance is great. Plus she got to work with her twin sister in those scenes with two Sarahs in shot.

I mean as a teen even, in T1 he's talking about 'back in my day we did similar' kinda talk, now in this he's talking about how they used to ride bikes with a tape recorder too, your dad was and is COOL! Sometimes getting old means having to remember it as I watch these two young men watch T2. Really enjoy seeing our 'life' through the lens of someone else. If the government 'had' found the future tech, it would not have improved Sarah's plight and may have even been cause for her to be _silenced_ .
I'm not sure why I got such a kick out of George speaking (what I'm guessing is) Mandorin, but it genuinely made me smile through the whole video. I'm aware English is not his first language (though he speaks better than some native speakers, to be honest!) but actually hearing such a familiar voice speaking unfamiliar words.. it made for a really fun video to watch. Plus, it was rather touching to see him experience this with his dad 🙂

Fun fact: The foster mom played a police woman in lethal weapon 1 & 2 as well as playing Vasquez in Aliens. -Eventhough this movie use some breathtaking CGI, it also used a lot of classical practical miniature and model shots. -They had to add the face licking scene, so it didn't look like Sarah was beating an innocent hospital worker. -They used *TWO* sets of twins in this movie. One set was the ginger security guard the other was Linda Hamilton and her sister Leslie. Everytime you see two Sarahs in one scene, it's twins! *Additional* When Sarah is about to shoot Dyson, she sees the the same look in his eyes that she had when the terminator tried to kill her in the first movie. In a sense, she became the new terminator.
The 4D ride at universal studios for Terminator 2 was crazy the had T1000’s robots actually shooting blanks in the room and when we were leaving there was a bunch of ammo shells on the ground
I just noticed something, the T2 threw the companies arm in, the company's chip, and himself, but he left his arm stuck in the cogs of the machine back there.... how the heck did I not notice this before now, ok it's not advanced like a chip, but it's still an arm, still new tech for 1991! Anyway thanks again guys, so much fun!
The T800 is already on it's backup battery at the end, it was just rerouting power. There's a scene either in the extended cut, or a deleted scene, can't quite remember, that shows him discarding his broken primary battery.
James Cameron has stated that each time travel situation creates a separate timeline. So, there's a timeline where no one want back and Reese isn't John's father, one where only the T-800 went back, one where T-800 and Reese went back, and so on. This is similar to how the director of Total Recall has said that both sides of the "was it real?" are true, as separate realities.

I regret going back to watch George and Simone react to this because I thought we would have to wait a while
I love watching these reactions and seeing George's dad predict some things way before they happen, and miss other things and then get such an excited expression.
Especially that one-handed reload scene under the bridge, "So cool!", mirrors 10-year-old me's expression too!
the craziest thing i ever heard about this movie is that robert patrick could actually outrun the little dirtbike and had to slow himself down after catching it the first take
That was pretty good, but it was the helicopter stunt under the bridge that I think was the craziest, and would NEVER be attempted today.

I don't understand how so many people don't get the purpose of licking over Sarah's face.
He is checking (in a sick way) if she is actually apathetic or just simulating. When simulating, you'd have at least some sort of reaction. (Sarah doesn't, because she has spent years conditioning herself at that point.)

I remember going to see this movie with my dad when I was 9, in a theater that no longer exists. I think it's the first R rated movie I ever saw. Even though my dad has been gone a few years, it still feels like yesterday. Happy for you to have this moment, George.
I am so stoked you got to show your dad this. My wife had never seen either of the two Terminator movies so I got her candid reaction to each of them.
When they reset his chip so he could learn... he became self aware. Allowing him to refuse Johns order and sacrificing himself against his programming... as he learned that was the "best" choice to make.
Have mad respect for your dad. I loved watching flicks with my parents when I was young. Thanks for sharing that gift with us.

11:34 what I like about this explosion is that there is a cause to the initial fire. Cars generally don't explode when they're in accidents otherwise it would happen every day. Hear the cause of the explosion is an electrical cable shorting out. And the truck is probably running on diesel so it's not very flammable it takes a significant source of ignition, plus there was a lot of diesel vapor in the air. This one actually makes more sense than when a car drives off a cliff and explodes in midair for no reason.
Thing I realized 36 years after watching Terminator:
John Connor has had a single focus all his adult life and it's not creating a resistance and fighting Skynet but rather to locate Skynet's time machine and then setting up a date with his parents. He's basically cheating using Biff's Sport Almanac.
I'm ignoring later movies.

They also had to film that bit in the garage many more times than they'd planned because, having trained so intensely for the role that he'd become such a fast sprinter, Robert Patrick kept catching up to the bike.
He's breathing, he's just breathing through his nostrils instead of his mouth (so his training was to do so with less oxygen intake, enhancing the dramatic effect of his stoic performance!). It's tough, and beneficial for your cardio in the same way that training at altitude is - training your muscles to do more with less oxygen.
It's great seeing father and son watching movies together and smiling.

Hi to George's dad. It was a great reaction. I've seen this movie 100 times I'm sure, but it's always interesting to get the impression of someone who is totally new to it. Linda Hamilton is just terrific in this one. The intensity of her performance is great. Plus she got to work with her twin sister in those scenes with two Sarahs in shot.

I mean as a teen even, in T1 he's talking about 'back in my day we did similar' kinda talk, now in this he's talking about how they used to ride bikes with a tape recorder too, your dad was and is COOL! For next Xmas please buy him a leather jacket and some T2 style shades :)

2:18 if I recall, this WAS the most expensive movie ever made at the time. This is why everything was so mind blowing in the film, specifically the special effects.

I'm not sure why I got such a kick out of George speaking (what I'm guessing is) Mandorin, but it genuinely made me smile through the whole video. I'm aware English is not his first language (though he speaks better than some native speakers, to be honest!) but actually hearing such a familiar voice speaking unfamiliar words.. it made for a really fun video to watch. Plus, it was rather touching to see him experience this with his dad 🙂

I want to point something out about _this_ scene. In the end of part 1, Sarah was only _beginning_ to study Spanish. In the intervening years, she has fully realized the _incredible_ utility of fluency in a second language and has _learned_ it.

Fun fact: The foster mom played a police woman in lethal weapon 1 & 2 as well as playing Vasquez in Aliens.
-Eventhough this movie use some breathtaking CGI, it also used a lot of classical practical miniature and model shots.
-They had to add the face licking scene, so it didn't look like Sarah was beating an innocent hospital worker.
-They used *TWO* sets of twins in this movie. One set was the ginger security guard the other was Linda Hamilton and her sister Leslie. Everytime you see two Sarahs in one scene, it's twins!

When Sarah is about to shoot Dyson, she sees the the same look in his eyes that she had when the terminator tried to kill her in the first movie.
In a sense, she became the new terminator.

The 4D ride at universal studios for Terminator 2 was crazy the had T1000’s robots actually shooting blanks in the room and when we were leaving there was a bunch of ammo shells on the ground
I just noticed something, the T2 threw the companies arm in, the company's chip, and himself, but he left his arm stuck in the cogs of the machine back there.... how the heck did I not notice this before now, ok it's not advanced like a chip, but it's still an arm, still new tech for 1991! Anyway thanks again guys, so much fun!
The T800 is already on it's backup battery at the end, it was just rerouting power. There's a scene either in the extended cut, or a deleted scene, can't quite remember, that shows him discarding his broken primary battery.
James Cameron has stated that each time travel situation creates a separate timeline. So, there's a timeline where no one want back and Reese isn't John's father, one where only the T-800 went back, one where T-800 and Reese went back, and so on. This is similar to how the director of Total Recall has said that both sides of the "was it real?" are true, as separate realities.
