Ive had tight hamstrings my whole life. I’ve been stretching them over the last 10 years but I have never noticed any progress. These exercises actually feel like the back of my leg is unlocking instead of tensed and in pain.
Have you ever looked into the difference between stretching the hamstring vs stretching the nerve? For a lot of people (myself included) it's a game changer
I've always gotten the correction to straighten my knees. I thought I was alone because I can only find articles about hyperextension and not hypo. Seriously thank you! I pray I get results from this. Also, I am definitely subscribing!
I've always had a struggle with straightening my knees and my teachers always mention it. Thank you so much for this video - really helped explain it :)))
Thanks for these tips. I recently videoed myself during ballet class and was shocked to see that my knees were slightly bent during some excercises!! I'm sure these will help.
Thank you so much for the tips!!! My ballet classes have been really tough regarding to my "bent knees". But your tips helped me a lot, and i'm excited to apply them to my dance!
Best of luck! I also have a follow along version here ( ruclips.net/video/E0QnF2c_r40/видео.html ) if you want to strengthen the muscles around your knees at home🤗
I don't dance but my knees are stuck in a bent (hypo) position. It makes me so sad. Its affecting my ability to stand up straight & I don't know if it will ever get better. This is a great video. All my leg muscles are super weak especially the side I had surgery on.
These were so helpful!!!! #3 made such a difference in the look of my daughter’s leg within seconds. Who knew??!! I can tell she will be well prepared for her upcoming competitions as we continue to do these. Thank you so much!
My legs have always looked bent at the knee. No amount of stretch could correct it. But learning about the VM strengthening here changed my life! I’ve always had absolutely no VM muscles! Thank you!!
omg the strengthening tip is perfect!! I definitely have that muscle very weak so it's going to help so much in all ways!! makes sense that even though I was working on my thigh strength for extensions I felt like turned out extensions weren't getting any better 😅😅 wrong muscle!!! thank you!!
How often can my dancer do these quad exercises for the best/fastest results? Are they safe to do daily? One set of 16reps each or multiple sets? I’m so glad I found you!!!
hey hey, im a synchronized swimming coach and i have alot of athletes who just cant get their knees straight. its a key element in our sports, and a real struggle for us. im really glad that i found your video so i can include new excersises for my girls and working on their knees!
Thank you for this! As a aerialist w/o any dance training, ive been looking for ways to improve my shapes. Could you make a video focused on improving your back and shoulder mobility/flexibility to create a deeper back arch?
This was so helpful and I am a very happy subscriber! I was wondering if you could make a video for a better point? All of your videos are so helpful for me, thank you so much!
So glad you are enjoying the videos! A lot of my subs have enjoyed this video for improving their point. Hope this helps 🤗 ruclips.net/video/m9gMzFngyxY/видео.html
I have non-existent calf muscles so it makes my knees look like they’re bulging because the back of my leg is so flat. I also have flat feet, so that contributes to the knee bending as well. My dance teacher keeps telling me to stand more straight but it’s weird because it doesn’t physically feel like I’m not standing straight. It’s super frustrating. Dancing in heels helps because it forces the arch in my feet and helps my knees straighten out.
You may want to try this video. It addresses all your concerns you expressed. Hope you see some progress soon 🩵 ruclips.net/video/m9gMzFngyxY/видео.html
i'm new to heels dance, and feel like i can stabilize/balance better when my knees are slightly bent, but the choreo is for straight legs -- and this is the biggest feedback on what i need to work on from my choreographer. how to maintain stability/balance with straight knees in heels? where does the weight go? especially when upper body is down, prepping for hair flip.
I enjoyed your video. It was clearly explained and will be beneficial for a student worrying about the lack of stretch in her knees. She is almost 10 years old, so maybe has some time to help correct this before she reaches puberty.
Yes! I always say dance has taught me so much about how my body is different from others. As I get older I think there is no such thing as normal. Just physical differences that we all get the opportunity to learn and optimize ☺️
I recently noticed that I can't stand straight, because my knees hurt a lot when I try, and it feels like they either go not far enough and are slightly bent, or too far and are about to buckle. I've realized, that most of the time I stand in some weird positions due to that - to the side, against a wall, etc.. Also, my thigh muscles are like, not really there, so it would make sense if they were the reason. It seems a bit better now that I know how to actually straighten my legs and did some of those exercises, I hope it's the exercise helping and not just placebo effect or something.
i'm 15 y/o and the thighs of my both legs are really long as compare to the lower part of my leg and usually, it feels so awkward when i wear jeans cause people say that your thigh portion of both legs are so long. it's not any kind of disorder cause i never had pain in my knees or my knees have never swollen. so, is it the problem of my knee that it isn't straight or it's just normal thing? i've never seen someone with these legs. + can you also tell me that with this "BIG THIGHS" problem I might have hypoextended or hyerextended legs? what should I do to make it better? do ihave to straighten knees? please help me
My knees are slightly hyperextended, but for some reason my right leg tends to collapse whenever it needs to support my body weight on its own (particularly en pointe or in demi). Do you think these exercises would be useful for me?
I wanna join defence forces but my knees aren't straight , literally there is no gap between knees when I stood up straight , can these exercises help me in this case also ?? Please tell mam !
Ive had tight hamstrings my whole life. I’ve been stretching them over the last 10 years but I have never noticed any progress. These exercises actually feel like the back of my leg is unlocking instead of tensed and in pain.
I’m so glad to hear that! Try rolling out your hamstrings and calves to loosen up behind your knees a bit too. So glad the exercises are helping 🤗
Have you ever looked into the difference between stretching the hamstring vs stretching the nerve? For a lot of people (myself included) it's a game changer
I didn't even realize my knees weren't straight until i started dancing .
Yeah, dancing makes you hyper aware of all of your body’s minor differences. I’m incredibly bow-legged if that makes you feel any better 😂
Lmao same, I joined modeling classes and got to know my knees bend while walking
same...
I am a elder, healing from femur break, this video is a blessing to me! Explanation great! Thank you!

Dancing has brought to the surface a lot of abnormalities and discrepancies in my body. It’s given me a chance to address them, one by one.

what happens if you don’t feel a stretch in the first exercise
For the first stretch, are we supposed to actively stretch our knees? Or just relax them there
Just relax and sit there😌
@@GaylynLareese ok thank you!!
I cant sit up and straighten my knees at the same time without being in horrible pain💀
