I am amazed by the city of Haifa, a beautiful, prosperous and peaceful city. A clean city, along the roads you can still see green trees and ornamental plants, peaceful greetings from Indonesia..

My father worked in Haifa port until 1948. He lived in a rented house with my mother and eldest siblings. They left their house when the war broke out and assumed they will be back in a week or two. My parents were always speaking about life in Haifa and their friends and neighbours. They had a Jewish family as neighbours and the lady was friendly with my mother. When I was a kid I noticed large keys hanging on the wall, my father said those are the keys for the house in Haifa and we will need them when we go back, he never gave up hope. My parents died, I am told the house was gone as well. I inherited the keys of the house that doesn't exist.
they assumed they will be back in 2 weeks... because all the jews would be dead btw. so its not as romantic.
