Exceptionnel! Et selon la Légende l'enregistrement c'est fait en une seule prise! À peine croyable! Mais c'était Art Blakey et ses Jazz Messengers! No Problem! Really!...
This version was recorded for the soundtrack album, in Blakey's hard bop style. The original that's in the film has the following personnel: Art Blakey, dr Lee Morgan, tpt Barney Wilen, tsax, Duke Jordan, p Jymie Merritt, bs Tommy Lopez, Willie Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez, perc. That version is played with a latin feel and is heard during the party scene in the film. R.I.P. Jymie Merritt (1926-2020)
I love this version and I love Chet Bakers, the best of both worlds. There are probably a dozen other great versions, because it's a great song to let loose on, or go more introverted like Chet. Lee is the man!
Quand je l'ai entendu la première fois sur la radio Fip , j'ai eu l'impression d'une voiture qui partait vite, et dans mon esprit c'était une Ferrari. Allez savoir pourquoi... '' No Problem est un petit chef-d'œuvre.❤ 🎶🥂
Art Blakey could play as loud---or as soft---as the situation demanded. And here's an interesting note: his solos were solidly structured; I once did an analysis of his style for a Down Beat article, and I noticed that very often he would use a classical form such as a rondo or a theme and variations to construct a solo, especially an extended one. As a result I came to appreciate him all the more.

I saw this film (even read the book), which was made into an American colored version starring Michelle Pfeiffer, as I recall. But I never realized this Duke Jordan song was from the original French film. The version that hit home for me was Chet Baker's (with Duke Jordan and, above all, Nils Orstad Pederson). Blakey was always the "force of nature," simply an irreplaceable drummer (the reason that revival bands of The Jazz Messengers" fall flat on their face, sounding anemic by comparison. But the supreme pleasure is to hear Blakey with Doug Watkins--the time floats and dances like Chambers with Philly Joe but with greater consistency (Paul could become inattentive on the live sessions).

It's really a dope edification of the first one they put together here! I like how it's more voluminous and vibrant with the🎺🎷📯! I love it! It's hot!

I love Art's solos because he's not afraid to bang the drums real loud! And it sounds amazing.

Music from the heart.

I recently asked three of my professors from the jazz department for references and the first thing they all said, swear to god, was "no problem!"
@Aubrey Dobrowolski That's not very jazzy of you, Aubrey Dobrowolski.

Jonas,
But this is ' no hay problema'; and not 'no problem ' -
A subtle difference that makes all the distinction!!!
Pabchnabroeslarbrar! That drum solo made me invent words!
Thanks for this version !
This was the model for Pink Martini's cover. :-)
Powerhouse Modern Jazz - marvelous! Sadly most of today's youth wouldn't appreciate it.
