Great work, exactly something I've been interested in for solo performances. My problem and I would guess is the same for other e-drummers is, how to turn the snare on and off quickly, without interrupting a solo performance. Must like acoustic drums are capable of? Any ideas on accomplishing this?
@Tomytown9 - My solution is to make a duplication version of the kit I'm playing for a gig where everything is the same except for the snare sound, ex. Kit 1 Snare on, Kit 2 Snare off. Then I make a setlist on the TD-50 module with only those two kits and use a Boss FS-6 pedal beside my hi-hat foot to switch back and forth. This way when I switch back and forth mid-song nothing changes for th FoH except for the snare tone.
Can I do this on the TD-17 module? Also thanks so much for talking about this issue and helping us find a solution. Many of us want to play Tool and write our own stuff with snares off. Roland should add some snareless sounds.
Yeah, the basic ideas here will work well on the TD-17! You don't get as many tweaks, things like the mic placements and extra pitch options like I show off here aren't in the TD-17, but the general gist of using a muffled tom and layering either a "snares off" sample or another internal sample does work. If you want to hear a good example of it on the 17 module, check out my "Famous Vol. 1 for the TD-17" video. I made a Danny Carey kit for that pack that used the same ideas from this video :)
Ah, yes, you might be missing a couple - it's up to version 1.0.7 now and I think those samples were added on 1.0.5. Go to the Roland site and follow the instructions, there's stability improvements too that fixed a dropout issue!
@@TheeDrumWorkshop Thanks bro. I followed what you did the best I could with the TD27. I'm pretty happy with the outcome! It still fills like a bit of an oversight from Roland to not have snares off options for all the snares...
If you want to see this approach applied to the Pearl Mimic Pro, you can find it right here! - ruclips.net/video/_fcRGIuDBm4/видео.html
Wow that was very good! Thank you so much!! If only this was a standard feature built into the digital snare lol
Thank you, hope it helps! Absolutely, I think they've missed a trick by not having it as a feature!

Nice. Good tutorial. Nice playing
Thanks Bruce, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!
SURF'S UP!
Can you create a video showing how to get more fuller natural tom sounds???.....Thanks!!
I'll see what I can do, Roger! I think it's a pretty common issue that people have so will probably be worth a look!

@@TheeDrumWorkshop thanks so much. I haven't bought the kit yet and this was the thing I was worried about. And I'll definitely go watch that.
I don’t have the brushed Tom sound in my module to use as a transient . It looks like sound 421 . Am I missing an update?

This video but for td27?
Pretty much exactly the same applies for the TD-27! 😊

Roland really need to catch up on the sonic sound and sound dynamic.
Yeah, they certainly could improve! There's certain cases where the sounds are fine but they really fall short in solo.

I don''t understand, why this isn't a basic feature.
Absolutely agreed! Fortunately it is on the newer TD-50X version, but it's pretty rubbish that you have to upgrade to use it!
