Such claims at 91, I'm impressed the dude claims to still rock it
I was on the Icon that day, walking in from deck 16 to the lifts, the lights had gone out- just emergency lighting- ie maybe 20% bulbs lit. Back to my cabin- 11508- still oblivious to the power failure (assumed the lighting thing was a test) via the stairs (get thoee steps in!) - no water or flush.
The ship had slowed or stopped, front facing cabin under bridge so had a good view. Power soon came back, Captain (Master) made a brief announcement, very short. Water came back a few mins later.
People "trapped in lifts" were not stuck and the lifts automatically went to the nearest level and opened.
Our only minor inconvenience was in Hooked later on- a minor backlog- 10 mins of no cooking had a small impact of course.
It was a great cruise but gave up queuing for the flumes.
The $200 Empire Supper Club meal was very pleasant and great food, cocktails and service. Look for a dining manager on day 1, can be heavily discounted -35%, only 40 covers per night.
Icon of the seas so glad the power came back on 😀😀
Engineer on Icon of the Seas...
be like,
"I wonder what this *big red button* does? Let me give it a quick press!!"
🤔
That's about what I was thinking!
Yes and after he did…..opps so that’s what it does.
haha
At 91, the safest place to be is on the couch.
Hi Doug,
Great update. Both parties to possibly blame for Ketchikan. It should be automatically done straps on bus, by driver. The person on mobility scooter should know better also. I wonder if scooter man declined the straps.
Thanks Doug.
Agree, George. Family and driver. I got to cut the man some slack at 91.
@@CruiseRadio okay, if your cutting him slack at 91, he should of known better, especially riding public transport. Great update Doug. I do feel bad for him.
Welcome home! Let us know when you finish the trip report on Alaska/Koningsdam. I look forward to reading the rest of the story.
Good morning Doug! Sorry to hear about the 91 year old’s injury, but real sorry to hear about his loss of consortium with his wife. 🫢🤔, and with that said have a great day!
GoodMorning, have a good one !

Have an amazing week.
Have a marvelous Monday 😇
As much as I love cruising, I am sure that I will not do it at 91 and then sue because of problems encountered. There is a time for everything. Hope your return trip from Alaska went well. Have a great Monday and thank you for your reports and pictures. 😊
Thank you for watching!!
91 & still cruising ?? U go sir !!!! ❤❤❤
And the wife is suing for loss of consortium.
Good morning Doug glad you made it home safely. Great news and updates. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks, you too!
Interesting report on so many levels. Loss of consortium? 🤔🤔🤔. Keep ‘em comin’, Doug.
Dude. You read my mind when I was digging through the paperwork of the suit.
We was on the Quantum yesterday and we lost power yesterday too. It was at night while the headliner comedian was about to start. He went on the people held up there flash lights so he could perform.
Thank you Doug. Have a great week.
Thanks, you too!
Good morning Doug Thanks for the updates 👍
No problem 👍
Thank you
You're welcome
Happy you are safe and sound back at home in Florida Doug! 😀😀❤❤
Thanks so much
Good morning, Doug ! So I’m curious as to what happened on the Icon of the Sea’s. Was it like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation where someone turned of a light switch in the engine room. Needless to say it’s still concerning. Anyways have a spectacular day and we’ll see you tomorrow!!
GoodMorning Tim!
I was thinking somebody tripped over the power cord.
Squirrels
Thank you for the cruise news sir. Have a great day.
Our pleasure Brant , have a good one.
Terrible that someone got injured while in their wheelchair, but if they did not use the straps to properly secure their wheelchair to the bus, not sure that is negligence on the part of the bus driver or company. Seems like human error by forgetting to properly secure
It would be the responsibility of the bus company to secure the wheelchair. It would be impossible for the disabled individual to secure he wheelchair themselves
@@mlthg81 EXACTLY!!!
Happy Monday Doug! 😊❤😊
You too!
Thanks, Doug, as always 🌹♥️🙏
You are so welcome. Thank you for being here.

#IconOfTheSeas ...the Disneyfication of Royal's pricing... it broke down? Hmmmm.....
Wow
Welcome back
Thank you!
Hey Doug we are seeing a modified file warning in your lawsuit part.
Morning Doug. Sounds like that 91-year old gentleman has a great lawyer!
Mornin’ Jeff !
Good thing there wasn't a bridge pylon nearby, the Icon has the inertia of a small moon
That's not a moon, it's a space station.
First time viewer. Like that you get right to the issues without the hype and small talk.
☕️Good morning Doug. Have a great day!
Have a good one !
Good morning Doug.
Good Morning !
Thanks Doug welcome home
Thank you kindly Mark !
No it didn’t. We dropped to about 7 knots. I’m on here now.
We are on I con of the seas , did even know we had a power outage lol
Have fun !!
Good morning ☕️
GoodMorning
An ICONic power outage....😮😮 Are you serious? Still crusin at 91? Not mad at him!!
Why didnt he strap in? You should be diligent and advocate for yourself.
Morning Doug, Tampa here. Like one of your comments below said about the Big Red Button...."Turn engine off". Ops, button wasn't marked yet...LOL Really is not funny, especially in a trial sailing, better now than with 6K pax on the ship. Have yourself a great Monday.
I don’t think Icon is on a trial run. They have been sailing at capacity for a long while, correct? Utopia is undergoing sea trials but she is not the one that lost power. Utopia is newer but not bigger than Icon. Utopia is the latest Oasis-class ship.
Good monday morn. You back home. I back from Lincoln, NH, lost my red Mt Gay sail race hat with my travel pins on it. If found pls reach to me. How your fur mate?
Sooooo why is he suing the cruise company, happened on the bus and bus drivers aren’t allowed to get up and engage with passengers so he couldn’t have made sure the old guy was people strapped in, he probably thought he was fine until he got hurt from his own stupidity and just thought he’d sue to get the money to pay for hospital bills
Really strange we are hearing so many stories about propulsion issues.
Mornin' Doug! It would interesting to hear about the cause of the power issue if it is made public. This one has the feel of an "oops" during normal preventative maintenance.
'''ICON '' is such a New Ship to be having Issues already ?!
Did You get Your share of Fresh Salmon ?
Good am Doug.
either it was made bad or was just a mistake by one of the workers
The fact that it was fixed in less than an hour tells me it was just a worker error and not an actual problem
Or how ''PROVEN ''' is the
Engineering & Tested..?
GoodMorning!
quantum just had power loss?
😮
As a professional Bus Operator for my local Transit Authority I am responsible for securing all wheelchairs inside the bus. All public transit busses are equipped with securement straps to hold down any and all ADA approved mobility devices. These handicapped passengers are our most vulnerable passengers and their safety along with the safety of every passenger on our busses remain a serious responsibility. I wouldn’t want to be the Alaska driver facing disciplinary action from the Transit Authority.
That is so sad to hear about the 91 year old injury poor thing 😢😢
The reporting of the Icon of the Seas power loss does make me wonder if there is emergency backup that kicks on? I would have thought that ship's power is subdivided so in case of an outage it doesn't cause the WHOLE ship to shut down. Glad it didn't end up being a Carnival Triumph moment! Have a great week Doug!
All the other ships have as many as 6 engines. For this incident I'd make 2 assumptions.
1. I'd assume there are multiple LNG generators just like there are multiple diesel generators on the other ships.
2. Because it affected everything, I believe it was an issue in line with the LNG storage/delivery fuel system(s).
Have a great week !
Good Morning Dog, sorry to hear about the 91 year old injury and his wife too. Have a great day and tomorrow is my last day of school.
That’s good , hope you enjoy your time off school !
Straps available? So he didn't use them, sounds like his fault and 92 year old man can't get it up... sure Goodluck with this one gold diggers
And Consortium in a marriage usually means a more "intimate" relationship was affected. At 91 years of age, i doubt this is the case. Especially as he was already using a mobility aid just to get around. This sounds so far fetched, it's laughable. If he had at least USED The available straps, then maybe? but Nope,
People who need mobility scooters should stay home. Their very existence burdens the healthy.
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why deception and violence are everywhere.
That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
