My favorite actor is Cheng Yi in Wuxia or XianXia. After seeing him in Immortal Samsara with Yang Zi, I become a fan of Cheng Yi. Yang Zi was excellent in Lost You Forever. I look forward to seeing both their dramas. I would love to see them in same drama as Main CP again. Their chemistry at the end of Immortal Samsara when they finally confessed and kissed was amazing
Actual "Blood of Youth 2" featuring almost all of the original cast started filming. It's based on a recent sequel novel written by the author-scriptwriter. Unlike the first one, this story hasn't been previously tested by a corresponding donghua. No idea whether it has the potential to be any good.
"I am Nobody 2" also started filming. This drama is 12 eps(?), so it's possible that it could air before end of 2024. I've heard conflicting things about whether Ho Ming Hao would be in the cast. Character Wang Ye doesn't show up much in this part of the original story anyway.

As a period drama fan I can't get enough of Yang Zi and Zhang LInghe in anything. I like him very much in last year's dramas and don't see where he or his work is a joke. For me Zhang Ruoyun is already an actor who is consolidated as an actor of any age. Lots to look forward to.
I thought some of Zhang Linghe’s dramas last year were good too. I think it’s the writers who didn’t write his characters very well that aren’t seen as very good.
@@unamed2516 I only watched My Journey to You, Story of Kunning Palace and Love Between Fairy and Devil and all of them were satisfying enough for me to be on the look-out for this actor from now on. I did not see Tiger and Crane nor Bright Eyes in the Dark so can't make a judgement on these dramas.

I wasn’t interested in Tiger and Crane (I heard the ending is tragic so I don’t think I’ll ever watch it) and I’m not into firefighter dramas so I’m not interested to watch Bright eyes in the dark, but I’ll look out for The Grand Princess drama when that releases it looks interesting.
Yep seeing all his dramas last year made me a big fan of him, he's very good looking and his acting is pretty good for the fact that he doesn't have much experience so I'm really looking forward to his future dramas and see him improve!!

The drama Riverside Scene At Qingming Festival(清明上河图密码) hasn’t finished filming. They recently moved from Zhouzhuang to Hengdian but I think they’ll be finishing soon. I can’t wait for it to air.

For 2024, I am eagerly looking forward to the airing of all of Xu Kai's dramas by Tencent: Sword & Fairy 6, As Beautiful As You, Best Choice Ever, and the one he's currently filming Moonlit Reunion. I am not familiar with Chinese drama audiences, but, Xu Kai is definitely THE BIG STAR overseas. He's the only foreign actor I follow and root for. He's indeed The Gem of Chinese dramaland and product endorsements, though the Chinese themselves don't seem to realize yet that fact lol. Thanks, China for bringing Xu Kai into my world!
For overseas fans, there is something special about Xu Kai that makes him stand out from other Chinese actors. Although he is not popular in China, he has a universal appeal. Among actors, he does not even show up in searches in China. He does not behave like an idol or traffic actor. He rarely attends popular variety shows or award ceremonies, other than his responsibility to promote his dramas. He doesn't sing or dance. He is just simply a humble actor who had no prior training, learning on the job past five years, trying to improve himself. His dramas bring joy to overseas fans.
@@nancy-h5z9s I appreciate your clarification about the standing of Xu Kai in China's entertainment world. It's just a big puzzle to me then that many fans in his own country seem not to appreciate Xu Kai, especially his acting; even these YT Cdrama reviewers very seldom cover him, when in fact, he is quite good and versatile (at par if not better than others), and his kindness, hard-working and filial attitude, and elegance perfectly match his handsomeness. I started to watch Chinese dramas and follow Xu Kai only because of his Arsenal Military Academy, an excellent Cdrama. He's definitely worth my time.
I fully agree with you that to overseas fans, Xu Kai is a total package artist whose dramas and public appearances bring so much joy and even much inspiration. His humility is real and very evident. He always reminds his fans to make their own lives better. His overseas followers are all over Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, the Philippines, the US, Russia, Japan, and many more. Xu Kai is simply an amazing person, actor, and model; a truly shining star by just being himself! I dream of him becoming more popular and a bigger star in his chosen industry as the days go by. If China ever slip and the restrictions on BL adaptations is losen, then it's checkmate in Cdramaland😅😂😂.... esp....If Immortality, Eternal fate and Sha Po long airs....the immense popularity and interactions regardless the dramas being well recieved or not, I can see it already...( Ohh and Eternal Faith is Zhang Linghe blow up to extreme fame drama....its just it didnt air😅)....I'm having my eyes open for all costume dramas that's filming now or waiting for release with....Yang Zi, Deng Wei, Luo Yunxi, Xiao Zhan, Chen Feiyu...Anything that airs and they are leads....I'm all up in it!!

Watching Our Interpreter with Song Qian and Chen Xingxu, enjoying it since it came out. Typical rom-com but nicely done and well acted, based on the first six episodes that I've seen. Not fond of period dramas since its too dragged out (maybe I like k-dramas 16 episode format better)

Ah.. I've dropped Youku already. Everytime I renew subscription of it, they offers aren't my cup of tea. I also pause my Mango, and thinking to "pause" Tencent too. Honestly, IMO, Tencent is pretty fun, but they act like grocery store, but when a gem drama comes out, they don't have it. Imagine how devastated I was. All in all, I keep Iqiyi, putting a hope on it. Yet, let me tell you, in my region, Iqiyi didn't offer some drama you mentioned aired in it. For example, last year's Journey of Love. I watched it on Viu. 🤷🏽♀️

TangRen's biggest mistake that contributed to its downfall was how they totally didn't capitalize on the success of 无心法师 and the potential of ChenYao as the big female lead after liu shishi left. They pushed her aside and favored hu bingxin instead. Can't remember a single project with her as the main lead doing well.
I look forward to DA FENG DA GENG REN. I really like the novel, and thinks Dylan Wang is an absolute spot-on casting (accent doesn't matter, cos XU QI AN is from modern times). But the trailer makes it look rather silly and I'm worried they're gonna mess it up. I hope they can match QING YU NIAN's quality...they have similar kinda vibes. Also, I wonder where they'll stop at, cos just like FAN REN XIU XIAN ZHUAN, there's no way they can fit the whole story into one average length drama. TENCENT's list screams $$$. Let's hope the money has gone to where it matters.

Thank you for this! I find it so interesting how you said people are conditioned to expect a drama every day in China, and that is a difficult expectation to work around. I wonder if those shorter Monsoon dramas would do better with a foreign audience? If they are well-written and acted (and you gave them a nod!) I am also tired of seeing the SAME actors in EVERYTHING!!!! This goes for English-speaking roles as well. I don't want to see just a pretty face, I want character and serious acting chops! On that note, I barely made it through any period dramas this year, either they were too repetitive, boring or almost farcical. Thanks for letting me rant🙂

If you're truly his fan, you better pray it never comes out. Yes it'll get a lot of traffic, but troublesome ones for a subpar drama. From the leaked photos, that production had no money at all. His costume was terrible.. and HOB has manga and anime visuals to compare to; real life will always fall far short. How are they gonna animate Ghost City for drama version if they have no money even for costumes? That's not even considering HOB is BL in capital letters. If they cut out all the BL to evade censorship, then HOB will have no story left lol. Literally Hua Cheng's entire point of existence is Xie Lian devotion. So yeah, nvm.

you know that untamed CGI was So questionable right??? Compared to standard CGI which are considered wowz UNTAMED had tacky CGI effect most at times and It was literally shouting LOW BUDGET Although I don't know if it was low. But yeah came that way. but the drama was a massive hit nevertheless because people Enjoyed the characters and execution of plot which was superb even after going through Censorship. I've come to notice china doesn't give high budget to BL adapted shows lol. but I'm looking at Immortality to make a difference because I heard it's high? Idk. But most won't basically bare about CGI being top notch ( UNTAMED wasn't) as long the characters are given nicely and all. it'll follow Untamed path.
And for Plot after Censorship, Honestly it's funny how amongst most BL adapted drama or so.. HEAVENS OFFICIAL'S BLESSING is literally the One with LEAST ROMANCE in it. compared to Untamed which had Romance at peak even with steam and all. After Censorship, The superb plot was still there. So what of HOB with the LEAST ROMANCE and more plot Oriented?? Honestly not gonna be a problem. Because I've seen people mistake It for a Bromance novel 😂 ( I did too lol) Because the The romance was slow ...sooo slow burn that it was almost never there at first. So when being adapted, I honestly not so worried. because China has put out lots of Bromance ( Sus ones lol) So if HOB follow they Sus bromance pattern then I think fans can also see tha subtle stuff of romance non fans can't
@@sweetsavage6759 well we’ll see if it is a blessing or curse for ZLH very soon because rumour has it that TGCF has just been put up for reservation today. 60 episodes, so I’ll say ZLH has a lot to carry on his back to make it work. TGCF has so so many diehard fans that it’ll be a very tight line to walk between them and censorship. If they can’t even hint at BL in the plot then ZLH better be able to express devotion from his every pore like Hua Cheng can. I would rather ZLH to explode on positive things you know.

I've seen Some normal Cdramas With these subtexts. Eg, in the highschool drama Time and him are just right, It was pretty obvious that 2 guys there Literally had something going on lol. I only watch period dramas most of the time(not a fan of contemporary,xianxia or any fantasy drama) and there’s nothing that interests me😢😢😢😢😢 oh my…I became so picky after years of watching great historical dramas but maybe I can try under the moonlight and surprise me like ripe town.
This year I subscribed for the whole year in the platform IQIYI and wetv and the drama that I waited is not in the list and got news that the actors having tax problem so most likely it will not be aired at all😅😅 What a let down..

I think a big reason that Mango has trouble with their dramas getting higher views is because they have such atrocious subtitles. Many foreign viewers have trouble watching dramas that have bad subs. It is hard enough to learn to watch a drama while reading subs because you can't always watch the seen as deeply, but having the subs be complete garbage makes it even worse since the person is missing the drama content and they can't understand what is going on while they instinctively keep trying to read the crappy subs. You would think that the platform, if they want to translate/sub their own work themselves, would at least try to get someone who knows the intended language to translate or even review/edit the subs before releasing them. Oh well, we can only wish.
Yea pretty sure international viewership has nothing to do with it. Foreign viewers really don’t mean much to them, it’s people in China who aren’t watching it
lol international viewers don't matter really so it's got nothing to do with subtitles being bad. A lot of their dramas distributed on other channels and on Viki get good subs too.

I don't understand the hype around LiuYiFei - sure she is beautiful but then there are lots of beautiful chinese actresses. And honestly after that Disney travesty of Mulan, I lost interest in following her as an actress.Not only did they not do any research, they based it on the animated version of their own Disney production. So I just can't watch her in any dramas. Feel she sold out. And frankly so did Gong Li but then she is on her nadir so probably don't have much options.

I look forward to xianxia/wuxia dramas, mainly because it's already fantasy and I just like the effects that give Bilibili content creators more content to work with to create 拉郎 stories that are far more interesting to watch than the original stories. With Chinese romantic contemporary dramas, I honestly don't even bother as they recycle the same thing over and over again, rich/poor (guy)/poor/rich (girl), very predictable, extremely boring, and far-fetched.

he is doing a remake of the very famous legend which already has many remakes in the past, The Legend of the Condor Heroes. There are big names behind its production and big budget production, and with # 1 actor in China, Xiao Zhan, it should be high anticipation.

@@l-elf6308 No idea. I hope Yang Yang will shine in this drama as his last fire fighter drama was disappointing. I enjoyed him in You Are My Glory and Who Rules The World. Both dramas I’ve watched twice. Hopefully Immortal Ascension will be a hit for him. Take care💃🏽
I started watching 我知道我爱你 because I really love 孙怡。Something in her face has changed and I can't put my finger on it. Her silhouette, her voice, her motions, all as before, but her face??? Is it too much makeup? Please enlighten!
It’s her personality has changed (likely due to her marriage and own internal changes) so her face is no longer as warm and her smile no longer bright. I found her face somewhat depressing most of the times and her acting is just not natural anymore.
