When fighters drop weight classes, it generally doesn't go well for them. Jiri can lose weight and stay in the same weightclass; he needs to develop his speed. He would be too slow for middleweight.
He needs to ask himself this question, if musashi was in his position would he have dropped in weight class? The answer is no of course he wouldn't have quite the weight class instead he would have find away to perfect himself technically.
Plus losing 20 pounds will affect not only his chin but also his punching power. 205 to 185 means Its 20 pounds less of lean muscles which means jiri gonna lose the explosivity he has at 205, and when you consider the fact 185er are generally faster it could end up being the worst decision he made so far. Look at max holloway for example the difference when he is a 155er he is much more explosive and hit a lot harder than when he is at 145. People think only the chin is affected when you cut to much weight, no no no there is other things that gets nerfed when you do that
@matthieudelarte3914 because alex was always a natural 185er even In his long kickboxing rareer, he is one of the biggest 185er ever but with age your body and bones and muscle get heavier so now he isn't a 185er anymore but a true 205er. Where as jiri is a natural 205 that wants to go down to 185. Michel johnson is a nother great exemple, at 145 he couldn't ko anybody but at 155 he koed cold many elit fighters like poirier, tibau and Danny Castillo he even dropped and hurt Tony ferguson and geathje several times. Same thing happened recently with pitbull at bellator he was a massive puncher at 155 and 145 but when he tried to go at 135 his ko power wasn't anymore. And there is many exemples like that. But remember that I say jiri could lose his ko power at 185 I didn't say it was a garenty.
It'll be stupid. He won 30 out of his 36 professional fights with his striking. What he needs is a good head coach, to create a good game plans for him and study opponents.
@@ifgwelf He's not going to be 185 fighting 205'ers. He's going to be 185 fighting other 185'ers. Jiri doesn't cut that much weight to begin with. When asked about his typical walkaround weight between fights, Jiri answered: "Around 99, 98 [kilograms, or 216 to 218 pounds]." The only weight he's really cutting to make light heavy (205) is water weight.
@@MrRemixV3 There's a difference of fifteen lbs between middleweight and welterweight. There's a difference of twenty lbs between light heavyweight and middleweight.
You don't change division because of losing to the champ twice. He may have Jiri's number, but he's also 37 and not gonna be there forever. Jiri has proven he's the clear #2 and if he keeps improving he'll be champ again
He'd be very tall for 185 but not the thickest most muscular guy he's actually kinda lanky. If he can make the cut safely without losing all his striking power then do it
Jiri is like the light heavyweight version of Tony Ferguson . Unique style with poor fundamentals that relies heavily on one’s durability. Once that disappears (as it does with age) he will lose multiple fights in a row.
Yes he should... he seems like his cuts aren't even bad. Like the same as Alex... should be able to pull it off and make a run. Need a new team though.
Honestly I feel he’s overthinking it, at the end of the day Alex will just always have his number and be the worst matchup for him. Other then Alex though he’s beating the rest of the division but a move to middleweight could be way to drastic and have consequences to how he takes shots.
YTF is Uriah Hall still trying to fight??? The dude literally has just stood their doing absolutely nothing during his lat like 14 fights. the dude has been absolutely 'scared' to engage ever since he basically became an official ufc fighter. i gont get why he is still acting like he wants to be a fighter.
@@brandonamezquita4501 There's almost no point in staying at 205 cus he's not gonna get a title shot because he already got two so if he moved up and got a few wins he could possibly get a title shot at heavyweight.
Dude needs to just take a few months off, train somewhere new and relax.
Don't jump back in too soon or drop weightclasses.
He doesn't need to fight Alex again. If he wants to be champ, which I'm sure Jiri does, he needs to drop to 185.

@@nikobellic9004If you think Musashi wouldn’t take every competitive advantage possible then you don’t know Musashi.
Jiri just needs to incorporate more fundamentals into his unique style. But wtf do I know.
A.k.a. blocking 😂.
You know that much and so do I. He is so electric but so fundamentally unsound. I agree with your assessment

If I was Jiri I would fire my striking coach and hire a witch doctor to corner me.
Only logical route
Does he even have one?

Goodbye to than chin at 185
His chin will still be good.
The problem is not his toughness, it's his speed.
Lighter guys are faster.
@@GrubKiller436 you’re missing the point when you cut weight you can still be tough, but your chin can’t take it dip shit

Wat chin
Jiri needs to keep his hands up and protect his head. Basic fundamentals!
Jiri style is becoming his worst enemy just like gaejthes style before he tightened it up
Jiri goes to Denver with Whitman 😮. Career resurgence
😂jiri just needs to learn to keep his hands up ffs
185 would be terrible for Jiri
Why? 185 may work for him.
His chin would be gone after the weight cut

Why? I think he can make weight comfortably
Jiri needs to take the rest of 2024 off!
jiri needs to drop down to welterweight, if he does this then he’s the champ guaranteed
I think flyweight would fit him well.

No. He needs to hold his hands higher than his knees though.
Why does O'Malley act as if he's insanely tall? 😂 He's probably 5'9/5'10
Because it's funny AF
Because he knows Ilia cares
I thought he was 5’11. Has he been lying all this time? Lol
@@Re-Todd_Howard Yeah, all you've gotta do is compare his height next to others and you'll realise he's lying lol
@JrE-il7cf More people know Sean than Ilia I'm pretty sure. I'm not a big fan of either guys btw
How about learn basic defense instead
As per usual, fucking class A memes to finish this video. Thanks MMADigest
They let anyone in the p4p nowadays 😂😂😂
Illia is higher because beating Volk > Beating Aljo
There. Solved it
The 😂😂 last part iykyk 😂😂😂

That'd be a brutal weight cut
Wonderboy keeps his hands down and rarely ever gets hit... Jiri keeps his hands down and gets hit all the time.
Jiri needs to go spend time at a super gym.
Nah, Jiri should move up and call out Brock in a Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament... ⚔ 🍗
He looked bigger than Glover in their fight, and Glover is an average size LHW.
4xtra catching all kinds of fades. 😂
Rockhold vs Uriah would be cool to see
izzy vs jiri is an exciting match up although izzy might just piece him up into decision

his fight IQ seems a bit low-everyone knows that you shouldn't stand and bang with Alex.Plus his head movement doesn't seem right

Could be worth waiting a bit to see if Pereira leaves the division. If he leaves the division then Jiri is champion at 205.
195 lbs Cruiserwieght Champion
Gane turning down all the top contenders and gets stuck with a #9 grappler. Lol
Jiri walks around what 185ers walk around. He can easily diet and cut to 185.
Jiri must stop the bs and learn some defense!
Fresh? Nah bro his style wont lend well to a depleted chin, depends if he regydrates well though i suppose
Terrifying thumbnail
He's giant for 185
no, hes not small at 205 at all
Yes?
Wasn't pay already like 13/13? Whenever salaries are published there's never anything lower than that
Oh yes please
Pretty simple, you knock out the arguable p4p#1 , Sean is trolling.
No way he makes weight and still performs well imo
No
He did look a weight class below Alex in their fight

Chama
That would be sick
Retirement would be better mate..
No better yet, he should drop down to lightweight. He has that delusional Samurai mentality anyway.
He should change gender and fight Zhang.
Nope .. it’ll just lessen his chin
Jiri needs to learn to defend his chin, not destroy it by moving down.
Today I feel gay
Yeah? Show us
Burns looked like trash against JDM
Try not coming back till 2025.
Jiri is too fuckin big for 185. Especially with his style of 100% offense and 0% defense. He gets KOd easier down there 🤣 💯
fight Rountree since it seems like Magomed will be fighting for the belt next.
Roundtree should fight hill, they were already booked anyways
Jiri vs Strickland
Woukd love to see this. I think Jiri wins
Jiri vs Strickland at 190-200 lbs catchweight. I would love to see it.
jiri doesn’t impress me.
Go to bellator
I personally think Jiri should move up to Heavyweight it could bring some new life into the decision he's also a big 205'er already

😂😂😂
Stupid idea to drop to middleweight
Great idea for Jiri. O’Malley and Illia competing to see who can be champ and fight the least.
