      I am in the US I plant potatoes every year you must use loose soil I use peat moss and garden soil

    Hi , Marie you made me laugh when you ask if anyone laughing funny, remember I told you I was going to try it but my water bottles weren’t big enough so I put them in the ground in much lighter soil I tried about three times before and I hope I get some this time, I would keep trying until I find the right bed, I have almost some of everything fruit trees also all in a small garden trying at the things I use and like, I see you back at it again so we would keep trying,have a wonderful day Marie ❤

    Hush sister Marie. I think that soil can be finely chopped with the garden shears and mixed with some natural dirt and manure and can be useful again. I wouldn’t discard. We live and learn as they say. Im addicted to learning with you, so thank you for your efforts. Well on the way to 10k subbies.     Sorry about the bite Marie. Yes I try to wear gloves in the garden. It helps. Sometimes we forget though. Bee bit me 3 weeks ago right under my big toe because I had on loose slippers. Happened so fast.

    Hello sis, the soil is too hard for the sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes like sandy soft soil, there was too many roots so it made the soil hard so the potato couldn't expand, it happened to me last year. I was prepared this year. Thanks for sharing the highs and lows of gardening because thats the reality.

    Marie maybe you need a wider container, potatoes need space to run this container is too narrow. Let’s hope you have better luck this time, but I do think you should use a wider container.

    Marie, I hope it will be a success this time around. However, from the little that I know about potatoes, I believe each time the vine runs, it will connect with the soil, send a root down, and form a tuber underneath. I'm just saying, but I'm still hoping for the best in your endeavor to try again

    Hi my lady, I think you pull it too early, and if I was you I would have planted it in the blue bin and don’t put the slip too far down and as it grow you keep adding soil hay or dry grass, it’s ok hon better luck next time, we all go through that sometimes, god bless you and your lovely family, my lady 🙏🏼😍

      I made the soil they are planted in myself, regular dirt, kitchen scraps, chicken manure and worm castings from the woods near me

My husband alway quarreling with me to put on the boots in d garden too (Barbados doesn’t have snakes so I naturally don’t think about snakes)….     Don’t be too discouraged next time when you are planting your potato add some sand to loosen the soil and off course your fertilizer to amend the soil and see what happens. I saw a man planted some sweet potatoes in saw dust and sand and his harvest was great and beautiful potatoes that is I am suggesting that to you. Good luck and best wishes to you next time!! 🙏🙏💐💐

    Potatoes love water. Got to give it enough water. I try water mine every other day so they perk up. remember they're deep in ground most times its dry if not watered well. I am growing in containers and in a bed. The bed dries out the quickest. I have to do deep watering.

    I planted sweet potatoes and they grow and spread pretty like the sea and it never bare one to save mi life, lol, I went to the country and get some red dirt and planted it again in containers, so am waiting on it now again, wish me luck

    Good morning Marie, how much months did you gave the sweet potatoes before harvest?. I tried it for the first time last year and I could have given it an extra 2 weeks/month, to get a much better harvest. Could have given them 4 months instead of 3 months.
    I think the issue was fertilizer for me, I never gave it any

      It's about 3 months, but even if they got 5 months I wouldn't get anything. Poor soil
