I remember helping my dad repair our windows, replacing the cords and glazing. I actually thought it was a fun and rewarding experience. Grew up on the east end Santa Cruz Ave. great video
Thanks Joseph! So far it has been pretty fun (minus the mosquitos!), And even though we're just halfway through, it already feels rewarding. Having worked on these windows I am in 100% agreement with preservationists who say it's better to restore than to replace. Our windows are currently 116 years old, and I can easily see them lasting another 100 if properly cared for. I don't think that can be said for any modern window! Thanks for stopping by! 😊 ~Laura
Get the mosquito barrier garlic spray. It is natural. Your yard will smell very garlic-y for about half an hour. But then at my home in Indiana, the mosquitoes have improved by about 80%
Hi! Came across your video tonight. I recently purchased a 94yr old home here in Central FL and really interested in restoring our windows which look very much like the ones here in your video. My question to you is, aside from the scraper....what did you use to help loosen or soften the old paint? Any an all info, pertaining to the windows is greatly appreciated as we have ALOT of work to do on our Gingerbread House.
Looking good!!!
Thank you! 😊🙌
I now have hope for my windows! Thank you❤

I've never heard of that! I will have to check it out. I totally do not mind the smell of garlic lol. ~Laura
