What alot of people don't understand is if you've never done this before it is a total mind overload at first, especially if you are just learning to double clutch. Learning the gear pattern, checking your mirrors, watching your trailer, watch your rpms, look in front of you, don't drive too slow, what did that sign say? What gear am I in? The whole drill sergeant approach isn't going to work for some people.
Nassèr Almakhtoum commonly it’s 4-6 weeks 200-300 hours driving time.. But trust me these trainers faculty is bad bad.. they will talk to you with disrespect and will try to make as much money possible out of you as most of them get paid for the miles you drive .. so basically If a trainer has a student on his truck his paycheck will be double for the least every week.. so just know that and don’t take your mentors shit. Companies need drivers and mentors need students to make money . THEY NEED YOU MORE THAN YOU NEED THEM ATLEAST FOR NOW SO DONT LET HIM/Her run over u
Despite everyone saying he's a bad teacher, rest assured this student will always remember to watch the trailer. The student doesn't seem to be ready for a manual transmission.
He's a DUMMY just like you. Weak new young men, all of you want to be held and pampered. The world needs to see the bs they are turning our young men into and this is a great video.
BoboyMac I just don’t like his approach I’ve been in the military and I’ve also been in law enforcement . Junior reminds me of my mom teaching me how to drive for the first time panicking , saying stop , go , brake all in the same sentence . It’s just a style of teaching I can’t partake in .
@@demitriusscott1435 I understand your comment and I remember learning how to drive from my father and how he would stomp on the imaginary brake on the passenger side... But I remember getting into an argument with my dad over the same thing - saying stop, go, slow down, etc in the same sentence.
phillies215 and it’s no disrespect to Mr junior he’s just needs to relax and stay calm and let the guy drive . He should be teaching him as there driving but not panicking and screaming . I also had a discussing with my mom about giving me a thousand commands at once lol
Yeah he didn't really start teaching til the end when he was having him shift into diferent gears. The beginning was torture to watch. If the student driver wasn't familiar with manual transmission, why wasn't he trained on the basics of driving a stick? First, train him on a Jeep Wrangler manual... After he masters the Wrangler, move to a bobtail. After he masters the bobtail, then throw on the trailer.
Lol. Just a M.T car like a Toyota corolla or something will do just fine. No need to drive a lineup of MT cars. Once you get the basics of shifting you can then learn the techniques used in trucking. Hell, even just knowing how to ride a motorcycle gives you enough knowledge and experience.
I learned the best way. From my grandpa. Old 65 kw needle nose. 6x4 trans. Which is a two stick. If I ground a gear I’d get a slap on the hand. Started driving when I was 16 for the farm and now I’m 25 own my truck and 3 type of trailers. Problem with the industry is these days is these company truck schools. These new drivers need to be trained and taught with old school drivers!!
No usually students who have never driven a manual vehicle do better than those that have. You bring your bad habits into a big rig. Shifting a car is nothing like a big rig. Best way to start is in bobtail like in a median or an a long secluded road where you can practice going through gears. I started with a trailer and that was the hard way.
I have to say it's sad no one knows how to drive MT anymore. Almost every car I've had until the current was MT. Even the Fire Dept has had to change everything to AT because no one knew how to drive the rigs.

I think this guy needs more training inside the company parking lot and around the city before he was being taken out on the road, He is a risk to himself, you Junior and the other drivers on the road..Prime should be emphasize more in truck control before sending this guys out on the road.
Hernando Patiño thats why they invented auto's. Because too many accidents have happened in the simplest shifting patterns. Many of the larger companies are almost completely auto now. Takes the guessing out of shifting and allows you to watch the road more.
Ben Santaguida Autos were invented to save on fuel, and regarless of auto or manual your always going to have distracted or nervous drivers hence the accidents.
He’s training him the way he wants to. Student can leave if he wants. But I guarantee you would not tell him to shut up and let you drive. You’re soft.
I commented on this video a while back and it was on my recommended list Everynow and then. At first I thought that this trainer was a little too rough, but I never knew the whole story. The student is obviously nervous as hell, but at the same time the trainer just wants him to be on the ball. This is a netbreaking profession and one mistake could potentially cost you your license. My trainer was more strict than this guy. He was really an asshole, and never understood how nervous and how much pressure I was under, but i will never forget his basic teachings. He released me off his truck, and i purchased my own truck paid in full 3 weeks after i got off his truck. It was a hell of a learning experience but he had his style of teaching and it still influence me to this day. Never thought I would say this, but THANKS HERNANDEZ!! I still think you're an asshole but you taught me the basics on how to be a driver. I'll Never forget your teachings!
Before I saw the comment below mine I thought the exact same thing. The way he's being talked to is sure to make anyone feel overwhelmed and nervous. A good teacher teaches with humility, remembering where he once was. I wanna say, chill, encourage him, slow down with instructions.
This is exactly how my instructor is. She even tried charging me for grinding her gears and she got me off the truck there in then. I have my test in 2 days. So hopefully I pass.
I have to admit I felt a little tense while watching this video. However, it just made me more excited about starting a trucking career. I know trucking is not game and every single detail matters. The pressure the trainer was putting on him is nothing compared to what he could feel if something goes wrong in his own. Thank you for the video.
Nick you’re the dumbass. He shouldn’t even be recording. In most states it’s illegal to record students getting their cdl cus the industry doesn’t want other people knowing what’s on the test or what to expect when they’re in these classes. So stfu dumbass
Ik it’s for sure illegal here in Florida. Cus my grandfather is an instructor here. And my father was also a trucker here. They both will tell you that
How long did it take him to get it down? I was brand new at driving last May. it's been almost a year driving for FedEx Freight. I took my road test on day 6 of training. Started with cruising around the yard getting used to shifting on day 1 to killing that rod test on day 6. I nearly destroyed that clutch that first day, but because I had an instructor that was real calm and patient, and didn't make me feel pressured, I got the hang of it real quick. But being a city driver isn't always easy. I still learn something every day I'm out on the streets
This is the Steven in the video, I’ve got going on 3yrs of experience now I left Prime Nov. of 2018 I currently Drive local tankers for Airgas out of Shreveport, La Not gonna lie I was Nervous as hell in training but Glad I didn’t give up. Prime was an amazing experience for me anybody thinking to come make that move now.
I feel you rush too much. You don't really explain anything in the moment. You just say do this or do that. Although by the time he's with you he should know already. Think of the shifting like the Adams family theme song ba da da da mm mm that's the speed you should shift. Everyone dogging this guy is just a supertrucking idiot. We all looked like this at one point. But prime should definitely kept him on the yard and spent a whole day with shifting and then turning corners.
bringjeffthehorizon he's telling him this so he get the feel of things if u cant understand and adapt to wat ur work field is u should look for another job plain and simple.
im a trainer. i know how it goes. its not about being now now now. you've gotta have a calmer attitude and let them have a few mess ups. everyone learns differently and at different speeds. hes. a good trainer and knows his stuff. im just pointing out this way his teaching is. you dont have to be snappy and put the student down.
That's true he didn't and he should've I was just saying that truck next to him was parked all crooked but yeah if he would've been checking his mirrors he would've caught himself sooner.
I think the instructor was on point by keeping the driver on point. Making the driver nervous and pointing out all the mistakes now will better him faster than to baby him the whole way. KEEP IT UP JUNIOR don't go soft on these drivers they need to know this stuff while in class not after class
I'm a driver trainer for my company that look on the rookies face is typical. I always try to make them relax as much as possible it helps their brain to start working again. He has tunnel vision right there focusing solely on what's happening inside the truck. We use the term get the big picture. I love when they ask should I go. I tell them you're holding the steering wheel and you're asking me if you should go. I tell them stop for second and think about what you just said. Go when you feel ready.
I drove for many years. and the mid eighties I gave it up to go to work at a truck manufacturing plant. the reason... the roads were full of guys like this one. schneider, jb hunt, swift would hire these guys and with the very minimum amount of training, they would turn them loose. they were a danger on the roads. it got to the point, that I would break out in a sweat whenever I spotted one of those orange rigs nearby.
The instructor was actually pretty good, he was being encourage and supportive in his way. i don't see anything wrong with the video. i am trying to get into trucking and i like his style of teaching, seems like a great motivator.
My teacher was the nicest and most understanding and he was a awesome teacher great person I learned so much from him.. but this guy I would have never made it if I had a teacher like this guy
@12:57 "Splitter Is Down" @12:58 Instruction is go to 6th gear, and student goes to 1. Great videos and tutoring overall. Been watching most of your videos. Awesome. "Which Ramp" was so hilarious :-)
This is why I am getting my cdl in an automatic and I will go back and retake the test after going to a school myself AFTER I learn to drive the truck if I want to get the restriction removed
I wouldn't be able to double clutch to save my own life anymore, flow it tru, 1st six months are the roughest but any new drivers survive the 1st six month they be arite
He will get it with time, no worries. And you people talking about automatic trucks. Those things are a disaster waiting to happen. I get a different truck almost everyday and once every couple weeks it's an automatic. They just don't have control like the Manuel. They are jerky and somewhat unpredictable on the slow side of pulling forward and backing. Stick with Manuel forever. Way better.
I agree with you. I work for a company that installs company logos and decals on trucks. A lot of the time we go pick up the trucks. A lot of the 2017-2018 model Pete’s we’ve been bringing in are automatic. It’s definitely something that takes getting use to. Manual is the way to go.
The "instructor" is very knowledgeble but he is no instructor. He is making the trainee very nervous. Trainee, if you do not feel comfortable you have the entire right in the world to request someone with more patience and mindful.
I think Junior is a good instructor. Yes he seemed very stress-inducing to the driver but sometimes that’s the only way to learn. He can’t hold his hand the whole way. Looking in from outside the industry, wouldn’t you want a hard-ass teaching new truckers or a half-ass teacher jumping hoops? He produces top-notch students who know their shit.
It's not that the brotha is a bad listener is just that he is really nervous, driving a truck is a BIG responsability

@@1point3ie99 you can get your cdl on your own. Only issue is finding a company that hires with no experience. There are for sure companies though. I know plenty of people that got their cdl themselves
Ben Santaguida There's no guessing ones you have practiced enough. Its not even hard to drive manual.
Ben Santaguida that's no exscuse
Ben Santaguida Autos were invented to save on fuel, and regarless of auto or manual your always going to have distracted or nervous drivers hence the accidents.
R Orellana Lol, do you know Autos have been using more fuel than manual just until recently with Dual Clutch Transmissions? xD
You're making him nervous at the same time confused, not a good instructor..
naw the driver is just bad at driving
GUNGRIFFON BLAZE yeah he’s a new driver . But with a good teacher you become a great driver
@@gungriffonblaze7370 dumbass i wonder why? oh thats right HES NEW! LMAO
Alex synapse grow brain cells then comment.
@@fookemon3326 dude he is trynna teach the kid ok so chill out.
Kudos to the student. Not sure if this is the teachers calling. But who know's, they are in the truck and I'm at home so it's easy for me to question.
Man this instructor is stressing me out watching this 😂😂😂
Every gray hair on Junior's head was caused by Steven not checking mirrors.
+Travis M. Lol, no that is not true or the case.
Travis M. My sentiments exactly. He definitely has some kind of brain lock going on.
Everybody talkin about the teaching style. I personally would want this style of teaching because it would help me learn. This is awesome
By far the worse teaching instructor. I would tell him to shut up and let me drive.
He’s training him the way he wants to. Student can leave if he wants. But I guarantee you would not tell him to shut up and let you drive. You’re soft.
ryan smith 😂😂😂
If you would tell him to shut up 1. Your probably stupid or 2. You already know how to drive a truck.
@@seanvines7090 f that guy I would tell him shut the f up or get me another instructor I'm paying for this school f that asshole
Worst student.
"That was close." - *smirk* hahaha.... get the hell off your phone and teach
he wasnt on his phone
Drive straight, turn late 😂. I will never forget how many times my teacher said that.
Brenda Moon Oh lord🤦♂️😹😹 sounds like a funny dude hopefully he’s my trainer lmao.
I want to learn how to drive but this guy make it look hard. I’m nervous 😟 how do I make a wide turn
😂😂😂 Bro if you don't go somewhere with that 🤔
My mans said "WHAT RAMP"? 😆
😂😂
😩😩
He already trying to go down the ramp
He lookin at junior like he bout to beat him .
John Lavallais lol
Lmao
This is exactly how my instructor is. She even tried charging me for grinding her gears and she got me off the truck there in then. I have my test in 2 days. So hopefully I pass.
Did you pass
@@donniewiggs8749 I actually just did today. Thanks for asking
Just give him a automatic already lol. Mostly all big companies going automatics anyways
+Juan Cortes im sure he will. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Yes but its still better to learn to shift gears... then if he ever does use an automatic itll be like butter
Automatic trucks ought to be illegal. Get rid of them and see how many of these two week training super truckers can't hack it
That's only gonna mean more restricted licenses to be handed out
The havoc Messi yes I know and because of this new breed of drivers I have to suffer with this automatic. #missmy13speed
When he said get on the highway I was mind blown. Wtf, this dude doesn’t seem ready yet
I have to admit I felt a little tense while watching this video. However, it just made me more excited about starting a trucking career. I know trucking is not game and every single detail matters. The pressure the trainer was putting on him is nothing compared to what he could feel if something goes wrong in his own. Thank you for the video.
He is more concerned to film than to teach him worst teacher ever 🤦🏼♂️
U dumbass most instructors do record u ur driving a 70 thousand dollar truck at minimum
Jesus Botello
No this guy just clearly has no clue what he's doing. It's honestly embarrassing to watch
They both will tell you that
nah
How long did it take him to get it down? I was brand new at driving last May. it's been almost a year driving for FedEx Freight. I took my road test on day 6 of training. Started with cruising around the yard getting used to shifting on day 1 to killing that rod test on day 6. I nearly destroyed that clutch that first day, but because I had an instructor that was real calm and patient, and didn't make me feel pressured, I got the hang of it real quick. But being a city driver isn't always easy. I still learn something every day I'm out on the streets
+jojohernand88 we are always learning something new. Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
Respect for this teacher this man does care about things
Update on the student driver?
This is the Steven in the video, I’ve got going on 3yrs of experience now I left Prime Nov. of 2018 I currently Drive local tankers for Airgas out of Shreveport, La Not gonna lie I was Nervous as hell in training but Glad I didn’t give up. Prime was an amazing experience for me anybody thinking to come make that move now.
Junior actually has a video of me once I got my CDL
I feel you rush too much. You don't really explain anything in the moment. You just say do this or do that. Although by the time he's with you he should know already. Think of the shifting like the Adams family theme song ba da da da mm mm that's the speed you should shift. Everyone dogging this guy is just a supertrucking idiot. We all looked like this at one point. But prime should definitely kept him on the yard and spent a whole day with shifting and then turning corners.
bringjeffthehorizon exactly!!
bringjeffthehorizon he's telling him this so he get the feel of things if u cant understand and adapt to wat ur work field is u should look for another job plain and simple.
naw that aint what its about. there's a way to teach.
Shane Turner u do know they have a time limit to teach right? cant be playing games we aint in driver's ad bro
im a trainer. i know how it goes. its not about being now now now. you've gotta have a calmer attitude and let them have a few mess ups. everyone learns differently and at different speeds. hes. a good trainer and knows his stuff. im just pointing out this way his teaching is. you dont have to be snappy and put the student down.
Man! You are obviously a VERY good teacher. Your patience is EPIC!
this trainer tuff but caring at same time
this dude said what ramp

Joe Garcia bull shit. he didnt even look in the damn mirror!!
That's true he didn't and he should've I was just saying that truck next to him was parked all crooked but yeah if he would've been checking his mirrors he would've caught himself sooner.
Steve Jones lol 😂 watch out pro truck driver in the building. I bet you park crooked too lol 😂.
+Joe Garcia Thank you 👍😎
joshua ramirez was he even in a spot?
Props to the dude because I would’ve been too nervous to ride with this instructor and pulled over and told him to drive
What a terrible instructor!
philbertmill2 yeah like who the hell uses the clutch to shift because I don’t use it and I drive an 18 speed
This dude is a chode
@@captchristianb.4550 You can't float gears on the test
This driving instructor dues not instil confidence. He can drive but can he teach😭
I think the instructor was on point by keeping the driver on point. Making the driver nervous and pointing out all the mistakes now will better him faster than to baby him the whole way. KEEP IT UP JUNIOR don't go soft on these drivers they need to know this stuff while in class not after class
I'm just a kid and I really like trucks maybe this can teach me how to drive one one day
junior you have great patience I personally would not be able to do that. it due time he get it
matt brugger jr needs to shut the fuck up
I'm a driver trainer for my company that look on the rookies face is typical.
I drove for many years. and the mid eighties I gave it up to go to work at a truck manufacturing plant. the reason... the roads were full of guys like this one. schneider, jb hunt, swift would hire these guys and with the very minimum amount of training, they would turn them loose. they were a danger on the roads. it got to the point, that I would break out in a sweat whenever I spotted one of those orange rigs nearby.
ruclips.net/video/ig8XD26tNuU/видео.html
Schneider has the #1 training program in the Country...
It is obvious he needed practice, scaring him half to death while on the highway, does not help him.
The instructor was actually pretty good, he was being encourage and supportive in his way. i don't see anything wrong with the video. i am trying to get into trucking and i like his style of teaching, seems like a great motivator.
I'm not a trainer. but i think he should learn to shift on a huge parking lot. That's how I learned, I went to a technical college for 5 months.
Dang , yeah Jr your crazy with patience bro no wonder you got so much gray hair bro hahaha You got this Steven!!
Richard O jr needs to shut up
props to the new driver for staying calm. for sure u will go a long ways my man

Great videos and tutoring overall. Been watching most of your videos. Awesome.
"Which Ramp" was so hilarious :-)
Ya i don't miss training lol
Michael Dow man jr. nope needs to shut the fuck up
This is a worst instructor. He need to go to school and learn some skills first.
Says the Indian with no common drivers sense
This is why I am getting my cdl in an automatic and I will go back and retake the test after going to a school myself AFTER I learn to drive the truck if I want to get the restriction removed
I wouldn't be able to double clutch to save my own life anymore, flow it tru, 1st six months are the roughest but any new drivers survive the 1st six month they be arite
+truckers life matters Thank you and thanks for watching 👍
@Joel Johnson prison😂😂😂😂😂
USE YOUR MIRRORS! he didn't look to the right once when he pulled out.
Junior, you are a good trainer. You're no joke!
Way better.
Peter Bet you havent tried Volvo or Scania
Peter Volvo is the only truck i will drive auto the manuals i dnt like how it feels or is set up
I agree with you.
I love this instructors style of teaching!
The instructor made ME nervous damn😂😂
