Yes, it was awesome. I commend your dedication to the art, to the education, and to keeping us updated with new developments. Your channel is definitely one of the "go to first" channels. Your attention to professionalism is also commendable. Clear, concise - no long diatribes. I think that for this video, you could have just pointed out your first video and the change in the download path on Github. Not a criticism, just a point to consider.
Hola, puse este junto GMic y Stable Diffusion en la carpeta de plugins pero no los lee, estoy usando Gimp 2.10.32 ¿será por esa versión?. Mi sistema es Linux Nobara 36. Saludos.-
Followed the step-by-step instructions and it works perfectly. Absolutely outstanding instructions. I had to stop and start the video several times to make sure I was doing every step correctly. Very nice job. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I've been complaining to myself a lot about how Photoshop is so much better with the selection tools it offers, but GIMP can make up for it with plugins like this.
Thank You as always, a well-done tutorial with the location of where to find the downloads and then how to execute without stressing. I've trusted you more than anyone on youtube for knowledge with Gimp and I'm grateful to you. You've really taught me more than I could have ever acquired on my own.
Just got mine to work, initially it didn't work when I selected only the one's you mention in the video, but then I deleted everything, restarted and copied all the files over instead. That got it to work. Thanks, can't wait to test this out.
You have no idea how grateful I am for this tutorial and this plugin is a God send!! I have struggled for so long trying to remove things and this tool just removes things like magic in front of my very eyes! This is a game changer for sure! Thank you!!
Thanks Mike - we often forget to update our plugins as we do our main programs - in this case Gimp - wonder if Dev's can start adding an in app update notification for plugins
Thanks so much. This was one of my favorite features. With newer versions of Gimp, I couldn't reinstall it at all, until now. I am so glad that I found this tutorial. I love this heal tool so much!
Hi ! Resynthesizer Map and Uncrop plugins perfectly work !! Uncrop plugin is pretty usefull, similar to heal transparency, but with perspective capabilities on edges. But, you have to use them on pictures with NO alpha channel, for them to work. Certainly an uncorrected bug that still remain...
Still staggers me how good this plugin is. Is it still being developed ? Thanks Mike btw because you pretty much took me from not knowing how to use layers to being pretty competent with GIMP in a few weeks of watching your tutorial's.
@@DaviesMediaDesign Yeah it still works great though. I watched your earlier tutorial on in from a few years ago and expect it not to work but after finding the thing and trying it, Works perfect still :) Love GIMP. Its enabled me to make Custom Icons and many other things.
The latest version is 2.0.3 and there was some effort for 3.0. The Windows version is outdated and you need to build from source, which I wouldn't recommend unless you were a programmer.
If anyone's wondering btw, when using the select tool, for heal selection to work your selection can't be feathered! Took me a hot minute to work that out. Otherwise it comes up with an error. :)
All done, and I get the error "Error de llamada para el procedimiento «plug-in-resynthesizer»: El procedimiento «plug-in-resynthesizer» no ha devuelto ningún valor de retorno" which I cannot understand even in Spanish - let alone correct it.
Thank You!! I do have a little update (I think) .. I am just now reinstalling this, and it looks like the format has changed a little. Instead of having a download button, there are 3 little links: Raw .. Copy Raw File .. Download Raw File .. after clicking Download, it did it automatically to my Downloads File. (After examining my Gimp Plug ins, I discovered the file is the same and I already had the needed files, I just had to hunt down the link, which is under Maps.) Now the problem. It looks totally different than the last time I used it a couple of years ago and I'm not locating a current tutorial on your Website. Am I just missing it?
Hey Davies Media Design - great tutorial but I cannot seem to get this to work on Windows 11 using Gimp 2.10.30. I get an error saying: "The code execution cannot proceed because intl.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." then another error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" Any ideas? I'm going to try reinstalling Gimp and see if that fixes it.
Thank you so much, this has helped me so much! However, the heal_transparancy filter crashes on very large images (for me). This is not so problematic, I take lower resolution images and can upsample the "healed" images. The main thing is that I finally have a solution for my cropped photos.
I've followed every step but the Heal Selection still didn't appear under Filters>Enhance edit: so i've updated my GIMP from 2.10.30 to 2.10.38 and suddenly it's there. Maybe because I haven't deleted the plugins in Drive C
Hello Davies the file that you download from the GITHUB page can also be downloaded from this page but without going around that you have done in the video, it is simply downloaded where it says CODE :)
I followed these instructions exactly but when I open Gimp after placing the files in the plug-ins folder I get an error saying: "resynthesizer.exe - Code execution cannot proceed because intl.dll was not found." It still opens GIMP afterwards but none of the plugins are available of course. I have GIMP 2.10 on Windows 10. I also have Python 3 since that was a requirement.
Thank you so much. It was very useful than I thought. Very useful, I mean I thought I could never get that same background that what actually I wanted. Thank you so much for your help and time. God Bless! 🙏
Hi, I just downloaded the Resyn. Plugin. I have the newest GIMP version 2.10.34 and I can't find the plugin folder to move the files into. It isn't in the Edit-Preferences-Folders-(not in the drop down here, only temporary folders}. I don't know where to look. Thank you for your help and the video. The video was very clear and easy to understand.
This is nice, but is there a way to get the resynthesizer plugin working on a different layer than the layer with the image you want to heal? Like normally enabling sample merged from heal tool for non-destructive healing?
Hey man, i have installed all the files as shown in the video but i just can't find the heal selection tool?, it doesn't show up, only the resynthesizer tool shows up.
Hi, great video, but I downloaded new gimp version today and now I can´t remove the object. Could you please look in to it? Or maybe there is another reason, but the area looks like painted with water colors. Thank you.
I installed this plugin okay but when selecting a layer and trying it out, instead of replacing the selection with info from the surrounding selected layer (I just used the plugin defaults), it, strangely, replaced the selected area with content from the bottom-most layer of my image document, which was also hidden! I have a ton of layers in this document. I even deleted that bottom layer and tried it again. It just took the content from the next bottom layer! Update: I copied just the layer I wanted to work on into a new doc and the healing plugin worked. So, I think the problem with using the healing plugin in the multi-layered doc is it was an imported Photoshop file. I am testing GIMP to possibly replace Photoshop. So, I guess this is a word of caution that some plugins may not work properly in imported photoshop files.
I'm having a little trouble. I ran into a couple of error messages: 1) Calling error for procedure 'gimp-drawable-width': Procedure 'gimp-drawable width' has been called with an invalid ID for argument 'drawable.' Most likey a plug-in is try to work on a layer that doesn't exist any longer. 2) An error occurred running python_fu_heal_selection; RuntimeError: Procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer returned no return values. However, once I shifted to another layer of the GIMP drawing, it seems work. I don't know why it didn't work on the top layer. This is a marvelous tool. Thanks for this tutorial.
Hy Davies, I installed the plug-in Heal selection and it's all ok, but when I try to use it on the image, the Heal selection doesn't work, it colors the complete selction in black. What's the problem if you know? Thanks :)
Python fu is not even showing for me my gimp version was 2.10.34, my system has python3 installed already. Even if I place the python and executable files in the plug ins it's not working for me
Great guide that's easy to follow, but despite doing so the plugins aren't showing up. My version of gimp and the plugin look to be the same, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Previously I've had to just install a previous version of gimp and use it there. Any help would be appreciated
Hi Davies, I’m a Mac user and currently running on Gimp 2.10.30. I recently downloaded the resynthesizer plug-in, but was unable to use its heal selection feature (with error messages popping up). Would you happen to know what’s the issue with this?
Have you watched my tutorial on installing the plugin for MAC? It's a little older than this one, so you may have to sort of combine the two to get the result you're looking for: ruclips.net/video/MiE-buxZij4/видео.html
Hello Mike, I installed the plugins on GIMP as you say in the video, but when loading the healing filter, tells me an error, two windows emerge, one from GIMP GIMP Mesage: Calling error for procedure 'gimp-procedural-db-proc-info': Procedure 'plug-in-resynthesizer' not found the other says An error occurred running python_fu_heal_selection error: procedure not found It seems like a compilation is needed Do I need to make something else?
In windows 10 with GIMP 2.10.30, this plugin work sometimes. And crash a lot Gimp. The biggest problem is that you can only take small pieces at a time otherwise it won't run. Maybe on linux work well ?
Good video, thanks, but man, what a lot of steps on the Gimp side to yield mediocre results for me. Why isn't it just part of GIMP to begin with? In Affinity this works so much easier, quicker and better results, but it does cost a bit.
Did the install work for you? Have questions? Let me know below 👇
yes it works! Finaly tutorial that tells which files are working! Thank you!

Followed the step-by-step instructions and it works perfectly. Absolutely outstanding instructions. I had to stop and start the video several times to make sure I was doing every step correctly. Very nice job. Thank you.
Damn man that really worked! Thanks Michael, I didn't know GIMP would be able to do this thing.
Yes it worked perfectly and your tutorial was excellent, love the resynthesizer plugin and wish I had it a long time ago!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I've been complaining to myself a lot about how Photoshop is so much better with the selection tools it offers, but GIMP can make up for it with plugins like this.
Yes, GIMP certainly has a few tricks up its sleeve. Thanks for checking out the video!

I appreciate the little saad face yu gave to the dog in the dema at the start of the video lol
This is the BEST Gimp tutorial video on RUclips! Thank you!

I had some trouble installing the plugin. Your video was super clear and helpful. I finally got it working, so thanks a lot!
Easiest tutorial on how to download the resynthesizer thank you very much for going step by step!! This is a game changer!
I was able to finally install resynthesizer. What great help. Thank you Davies

Earned a sub with that performance
Thanks so much. This was one of my favorite features. With newer versions of Gimp, I couldn't reinstall it at all, until now. I am so glad that I found this tutorial. I love this heal tool so much!
Glad the video helped!
I just installed this last night from your old video LOL. Old instructions still work well enough for install.
All works fine, thank you so much. I did copy all files just to see what happened but no problem yet
I don't have to do this very often, but this is awesome and is gonna save me so much time. Thanks so much!
Thx exactly what i needed, i finally ditched Photoshop forever
Thanks for the tutorial!

Thank you sir, you are life saver!
I did everything you said and it worked out except when I went to Filters -Enhance they were not there, Does it depend on the image you use ?🥺
Só falta colocar o tutorando no colo. Nice!!

Is it normal for antivirus to give me that it is a Trojan horse?
Sim normal
Doesn't seem to work well when there are multiple colors around the object. But thanks.
how to install it in linux?
how do I do that?
Best is to use Flatpak. The plugin uses obsolete Python 2.0 libraries that are, well, not available anymore.
