Hey do you happen to have the live show from their Madison Square Garden debut from NYE 2004/2005? I have a flac but the bass is way too loud and balloons kept hitting the mic. I was there and it means a lot to me. Best show of my life. Best show of their life too quite possibly as they opened 'Staring at Sound' with the story and deep meaning of that show for them. I would LOVE to get a soundboard recording or at least a different version than the FLACs I have. They aren't awful by any means but far from perfect. Thank you so much for all you do for the Lips Community.
Hey, I actually have a soundboard recording of that show, it only surfaced this year! I was planning on posting it around New Year's, but here's the link in advance: ruclips.net/video/q6g4cBMT5iQ/видео.html FLAC download link is in the description. Out of curiosity, would you happen to have a way to share the FLAC copy you have with me? The audience recording for the show has eluded me and I'd love to get my hands on it. If you are able to, you can find my email in the description. Cheers.
Without Michael you couldn’t have the Flips. So glad I saw him play with the Flips live in Charlotte in 2017. I was right up front of course and I said I love you Michael as he was setting up his bass on stage alone and he gave me a little Michael Ivins smile, wasn’t much but glad it happened.
I'm glad I got to see them three times. Once when Ronald was still with them and twice when Kliph was still with them. I got a chance to meet Steven the last time and you couldn't ask for a nicer dude.
I’ve been a fan of theirs since their inception in the 80’s, I never knew the reason why he left, now I do and I was bummed too as well as seeing Jake leave as well, but life goes on.
I’m envious of you guys to have been able to experienced there rise to what they are today. Seeing an early 90s show would have been so awesome. Also the anticipation and excitement awaiting their albums back in the day would have been crazy as well. Steve Burns always said that “suddenly everything had changed” around 97-99 just a year before my birth.
@@thechief5670 yeah, it changed for the best for them though as they probably would have been dropped from Warner Brothers if they hadn’t made The Soft Bulletin and if it hadn’t done so well.
@@GaryM67-71 Yoshimi is a masterpiece, The Terror is the last good album and everything before that I love. American Head has its moments but didn't dig Ozy Mylody at all, Kings Mouth didn't really do it for me either. So glad I've seen them many times since the late 80's.
@@GaryM67-71 Ironically, Michael is now pretty much left out of the Yoshimi 20th Anniversary boxset. He is mentioned two or three times in a conversation between Wayne and Steven but that's it. @Matthew-qk1xi American Head Is a great record. Ozcy Mlody not so much, Kings Mouth, meh, but The Terror and Embryonic are both right up there with anything they ever recorded, both such insane albums and I'm so happy I saw them on both tours. Worm Mountain opener. Nuts
Argh. I really hope Michael finds his way back in some capacity. I thought he’d be doing some engineering work behind the scenes or whatnot, but never gone completely. Definitely feels like the end of an era. Still hope Steven does another E. Wurms or Steve Burns collaboration. I love these guys so much and wish them nothing but the absolute best.
At first, Wayne walking into the audience within his plastic space bubble was really cool, but then over the years he took that stage 'gimmick' way too far, especially during the pandemic. Can't blame those guys for feeling completely alienated whilst having to play music inside those stupid bubbles and then eventually splitting off like separated 'bubbles' themselves.
i feel really weird about michael leaving... i got tickets to see them play yoshimi but it is just uncomfortable that hes not gonna be there. i love wayne but i cant be the only one thinking theres more to it than just michael being done... feels sudden and forced
Okay, but why is Michael absent from all photos in the Yoshimi box as if he was never in the band? Seriously, look it. Only Wayne and Steven. Revisionism.
Michael Ivins though. Wayne talks like Spinal Tap.Disrespecting a key member. Ivins was great, and Wayne's voice hollowed and deteriorated after 2003 anyway.Ivins looks truly released.
@@tylerjames76Wayne very much takes charge in the band and is maybe a little too dismissive of other band mates at times, or at least that’s why I think people feel this way. I just think he’s a crazy hard worker who has a specific idea of what he wants for the band.

Really beautiful the way Wayne handled this. No hard feelings. No good guy/bad guy. Just growing apart.
just saw Michael play last night in The Lolly Bombs. they were so much fun and he is extremely happy and in a good place. even sang Love Yer Brain 😊

Mike is a true original member, it was him and Wayne from the beginning. I'm not sure how I feel about this I've been a fan since priest driven days.
Just learned he left a few minutes ago. Discoverd the Lips in college with Priest. This is a bummer.
They had a good run though didn't they, together. Their best was Yoshimi and before that, sadly, more recently it's been poor.

To the best of my knowledge, Michael is the only rock bassist who has ever performed an entire concert live on stage while sitting in a chair.
I think Jah Wobble used a chair sometimes

Wayne is a weird guy I know many band members left on bad terms. Ronald and Kliph being two of them.
I suspect Michael left on good terms, such bored with Lips stuff, and no doubt his new GF pulled him away to new stuff, bit sad though.@@marmcd2003
It’s not that weird. Michael was in the band for decades. He got tired of it.
Quite flippant there about a guy you've been In a band with for several decades.....
I thought the same thing! Could have said some nice words about him or something but he kept it strictly business!
Ohhhh didn’t realise it was from a cameo thing…that makes more sense.
