WS42 was the intended replacement for the WS22. But the UK government needed to keep the PYE factory busy so opted for the WS62 and scrapped the WS42 project.

THANKS for this video, it has many answers for my own research on history of the radio.

Many 62 sets were rebuilt by PYE in Australia during 1955 / 56 . I owned a few of these rebuilt sets .. The XTAL calibrator units were in disposal stores in the 1980's .

Hello, I've found the 'VHS modified as high quality audio recorder' video very interesting and I am wondering if it would be possible to buy that modified recorder from the owner or to get a description of the modifications so it could be replicated?

An interesting video. A few years ago I decided I'd like a 62 Set for QRP but you don't see many. By luck I got a 19 Set at a rally, much work needed, much modified but I use it regularly on 5.262 MHz. Real radio.

Yep Bill, those receivers are 'real' radio. I enjoy the modern technology, but do remember where it all started....! 19e sets saved many life's here in Europe!!! I use one some time (Canadian mark3)

I remember hearing 62 sets used illegally on 6.6MHz. ☺
