Kate to the director; "I really wanna hop and dance around on this song". Director: "Sorry Kate, we really want the camera fixate on you, while you sitting still on this beautiful chair..." Kate: "Okay, got it." #bestchristmassongever
I’ve only ever seen this once before and thought I dreamed it then of course the more famous version came out which I adore. The best Christmas song ever. Thanks for posting this -50 years later I wasn’t losing my mind it did exist!!
Feels like Christmas, even though Halloween ended 9 days ago. Not a fan of the holidays, but, Kate, damnit, I love this song. Makes a joy on this elder goth's face every time!
Very few artists can create a Christmas song that isn't obvious, clichéd and ordinary, unless your Kate Bush,in which case, it's magical, mystical and extraordinary in every way.
Gosh I remember this being broadcast in 1980 - always wondered if I'd imagined Kate in that big chair waving her arms. Note how she sings the lines 'Don't miss the brightest star, I want to hear you laugh, kiss under mistletoe...' in a different order to the commercial single version. Utterly gorgeous anyway.
I'd found it hard to find this version of the song online. Growing up it was the only version I knew, with it being on the 'That's Christmas' compilation. A beautiful piece of music.
This version was only released once, by accident, on a UK Christmas compilation. This was supposed to be released Christmas 1979 but was suspended until 1980 when it came out in the more familiar re-recorded form.
Actually, on two Christmas compilations. I've got Christmas: The Album, a 2-CD compilation set, but this "bongo" version is on another one as well. The "definitive" version is on lots of other formats from 1980 on. I love both versions, but the only official video is this one, which is wonderful!
I'm so tired of the Christmas songs by Wham! or Mariah Carey. This is the song that should be played on each radio station on Christmas. For some unknown reason, it isn't.🤦 And it's such a merry, beautiful song.♥️
I agree on Mariah Carey. But i love Last Christmas too and believe there is room for them all.LC is a genius song..as this is..and it's really a George Michael song.He credited Ridgley out of kindness
Couple years ago we had this specific version of December will be magic again along with The Pogues' Fairytale of nyc and others along those lines. Program was called alternative Christmas melodies. From then on I'm hooked to Kate.
Kate Bush had a great 2022 thanks to Stranger Things! Her music is timeless. And I agree on Mariah Carey. While both ladies are talented in their own way, this song by Kate deserves more airplay!

Quite simply the best Xmas record ever.
I play this every Christmas Eve and only then does it truly feel like Christmas to me conjuring up memories from bygone days. Merry Christmas 🎄
Did you go to Colbayns?

As much as I like Mariah Carey, this song by Kate Bush is better!
All I Want For Christmas is You is OVERRATED.

Beautiful voice , Beautiful looking, only one Kate Bush
Beautiful lyrics and tune- love the bongos combined with a harpsichord - only uniquely Kate Bush!!! 😃
I am a Kate Bush fan from the start ,,but never seen this video before.....

'It's Christmas', EMI, 1989. Got it on CD and tape. I bought the vinyl single second hand, and it's horrid compared to this version!

Happy Chrismas 2025
Прикольнаямяукающая певица. Ни на что музыка ее не похожа.
😊
1980s special effects be like 🫱✨⭐️🫲
She xertai b my fhdid
Christina María Aguilera ? )))
Totally left field and whacky...the song ain't bad too!
song is exquisite but this video is artificial, Kate should have been somewhere in a snowy wood
It's a clip from a tv performance.
I think you should tell her to go away and do it again.
Not if you understand the actual meaning of this song!
Neurotic
They put her on drugs for this, and many of her earlier performances, no question
maybe she did herself?
@Myrna Schumanns they look a bit similar!
Don't judge her by your own standards
I usually post this song a few times during the holidays. I think its the most beautiful Christmas song recorded. My goddess, Kate.
