The exact figure is not required but I would like to know the approximate number so that it will be easier to calculate the percentage or ratio of success after clearing all rounds of interview.

No it's not required at all as far as I know
Which is best university or institute for traditional field students like Msc Zoology or Msc botany candidates.
Its topic dependent.....tifr also deals with classic things...but you have to define the classic things first
So the search process should be question driven and not subject driven
