The AWD system in the E350 4Matic does not use a clutch pack to distribute power, it is a permanent AWD system and distributes power 45:55 front-to-rear by means of an open center differential. The two axles are linked by a pre-loaded 2 plate clutch with a locking action of 50Nm. The AMG models use 4Matic + with a multi-disc clutch but not the non-AMG models. The E450 4Matic features a more rear-biased version of the 4Matic permanent AWD system with a torque split of 31:69 front-to-rear.
It’s been quite weird to me that the 250HP level E-class is called E350 in the USA but when it comes to the rest of the world it’s E300. E350 here has 299HP and 400Nm of torque (well, pushed by the same engine with EQ boost).
I bet it beats the prior base V6 to sixty, has better fuel economy and has better emissions, though. I do that with sports cars sometimes. A modern Accord Sport would dust a 90s era 911.
@@eriknephrongfr8847 True, engine technology has came a long way. But for $64K they should have provided a Inline-6 3.0L turbo. Power and acceleration is not everything. No turbo 4-cyl can match the snoothness and reliability of a 6-cyl.

You don’t need anything for the first 4 years. And I have found Mercedes vehicles require much less maintenance than BMWs and a much more modern drive in the last decade or so. I’ve learned that high quality vehicles are that way because of high quality parts and build quality. Those same parts are expensive to replace. It’s all a matter of scale.
