    Fantastic review as always. But for $80k..I agree with other reviewers that it's a joke to have such a low powered engine. $80k should be getting you at least 350-400hp. And for that kind of money..the rear seats should be adjustable and ventilated/heated..there should be a third climate zone..and there should be monitors behind the front seats. I hate to say it..but this car is going to make more people look at the Genesis brand which makes many of the things I mentioned standard at this price level. Happy New Year, Chris!

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics 3 года назад +1

      80-grand is a lot of money, no doubt, but what's being missed is that this car has $30k worth of options, some tech-wise that the Genesis (and other luxury cars) don't offer. Take those off or choose more wisely and this car can be a bit more reasonable, with the exception of the "Mercedes tax." 😜 Believe it or not, aren't mad at the price. We're actually impressed that you don't have to buy the big engines anymore to get the other features that you want. Great points, though, Nightbird, and as always, thanks for watching!

    • @Nightbird.

      @@AutoAcademics Great points, Chris. I have a question please. I'm considering a 2019 Lexus ES 300h..and saw the last one you reviewed was the 2016 model. After watching your video..I noticed the 2016 model doesn't have the annoying touch pad to control the center screen..which many reviewers are complaining about. I already know the touch pad on the latest ES 300h would drive me crazy..lol..so I wanted your advice if you think the 2016 model would be better to avoid that and offers almost the same level of luxury as a 2019? Or do you think it would be a better idea to go with a 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid..which would save me money..give newer tech..doesn't have the touch pad..but would offer me less luxury and brand cachet? As you said in your Genesis G90 video.."peer pressure is a bitch"..lol..so I already know I will be ribbed by friends/fam for buying a Toyota over a Lexus. I appreciate your input and thank you!

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics 3 года назад +1

      @@Nightbird. Lexus has tweaked their touchpad over the years so it actually functions a little better than it did in 2016. (Or maybe we're just getting used to it.😅) Plus, Lexus/Toyota move very slowly with adding tech when compared to other companies so we'd definitely go for the newer model, if possible. The Avalon is a fine vehicle and looks great, too, but no you won't get the same clout with it that you would from a Lexus and it sounds like that plays a role in your decision, too. You'll have to decide which offends you more -- the nameplate or the touchpad. If price isn't an issue, we'd try to go for the newer Lexus OR ignore our friends and get the Avalon. We can live with the touchpad, but the old clunky and limited tech would become frustrating, especially after a couple more years. Hope this helps and good luck!

      Sure did, eliXerxes. But it does drive much better than it seems. Still a 4-cylinder, but at least it's a good one. Thanks for watching!

      This is for a fully loaded E350. It doesn't have to cost that much. It depends what options you want.

    Good looking vehicle but severely under-power

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics 3 года назад +1

      We wouldn't call it severely underpowered, as the turbocharger makes a huge difference. That being said, we do understand the point you're trying to make. Engine downsizing is becoming the norm now so if it typically had a V8, it's got a turbo 6. And if it had a 6-cylinder, now it's a turbo 4. Thanks for watching, Webster Kollie!

    "I can't believe it is E class!" What is that supposed to mean? E class is not entry level. It is actually 3rd step up - above A and C. I would rather say: I can't believe E class is now 80 grand. Rear end is ugly. Reminds me Infinity from 20 years ago. And interior while nice is like old people's car - a bit too "sofa coach".
