He was the frontman on Motley Crew's 1994 album, personally, my favorite of theirs.

I just heard this a few days ago and I looked through a ton of covers. Who did it? Finally I emailed the radio station and they told me! This one is the best of the best. The drummer kills it better than any other one doing this. He does some very specific things that may him rule above any of the other guys. Holy balls what a great cover!
