I used to compare these guys to Tool when I first heard them, but now that I think about it...who the fuck cares? Honestly Earshot is a great band and so is Tool, both use different instruments, both use different sounds, etc. Tool and Earshot are not the same, but they make real good music and that's what matters. I feel like a lot of the more melodic, progressive nu metal bands (Earshot, Chevelle, Karnivool, Soen etc.) are compared to Tool a little too much. There are similarities between all for sure, but most of the bands in question tend to be pretty unique respectively.
This is a band that came out around the same time that chevelle did and they have a similar sound so they got confused with eachother and the fans so i think everyone gave chevelle all the credit which got them to the front of the line... this band is super talented and are so underrated its pathetic... had they just came out earlier i think they would have beaten chevelle to the bank and had more to work with.. thats what i think happened bc even i thought it was the same band and kind of went with chevelle who is also an amazing band dont get me wrong but when you get all the credit you get more publicised with more royalty and of course with that type of door opening you get alot of strength towards inspiration and determination to produce as much as you want without having to come out of pocket... oh well that is why im waiting for music to suck before i bust out my sound and that will be my turn... i guess i learned it from seeing this happen to alot of bands.

I love tool. I love these guys too. but.. Hah, you guys needs to consider more than the vocalist. They might, MIGHT, sound somewhat similar. But as soon as you pick up an instrument you'll realize these drums are elementary compared to Mr. Carey, and the guitar is nowhere near as experimental. They are at most the radio, emotional (not emo) version of tool. Still great shit, but nowhere near the same.
You guys make it sound as if they are trying to immitate tool. They are a different style entirely and don't deserve to be compared to one another. Music is not a competition
