Excuse me, but I'm Spanish and always have lived in Benidorm and Spanish driving is nowhere near to reckless. In fact (I know it isn't representative of all British people), the British people who come to Benidorm for their hen/stag parties and get really drunk, I think is another thing one should beware. Scams happen everywhere. It's good to be aware of the more common ones in which areas. Only common sense can help us. Keep walking and don't be so quick to part with your cash or stand around talking to strangers who approach you.
There are Euronet ATMs in Munich. Never ever use them they fleece you for fees (they are a US company apparently). Also there is a lot of mobile phone theft in Spanish resorts. Guard yours carefully and don't take it out on a busy street.
Just to clarify what you've been told here, stay away from free standing atm's. Even the majority of banks now charge for withdrawals. Fees range from about 1.5 euros per withdrawal up to Santanders eye-watering 5 euros. Just about the only bank machines which still give free withdrawals are those with 'Caja' in their name... i.e. 'Unicaja' and Cajasur'... Oh! and when a machine (or any shop/restaurant/bar/tobacco shop (if paying by card) ask if you want to pay in euros or pounds, ALWAYS say euros... in fact, make sure you insist on euros, as the exchange rate you'll get is seriously crap

What I can never understand about the pea men scammers is how the local police just let them get away with it. Don’t they ever use police in plain clothes in Spain? If they did, they’d surely stamp this out quickly. Or, is it a case of it isn’t Spanish people who get conned and only foreigners? Pickpockets are rife at the Sunday Market btw. Don’t be fooled either, my mum (who is nearly 91) spotted one in action and alerted the man who was about to be robbed, said the robber in question looked older than her!
Watch out for the scratch card scam. When you win, they take you to their office to collect your prize. You can’t leave, until you sign up for timeshare. Never give them your card details..
great info, thanks Asa, we found that the popular purple cashpoints are best as no mark up or commision, you get less than going rate but not to bad, also people should be aware, especially with Benidorm festival coming up which means many exchanges will be closed, do not go to pakistani shop to exchange money as it is illigal and they we will rip you off, we got caught and they tried to do us for £30 euro
Use ATMs at banks. Then you get the proper commercial exchange rate. You'll still get fleeced by your own bank, who think sending a few bytes down a wire is worth a fiver, but since Nationwide stopped free foreign withdrawals there is nothing you can do about that. It's still cheaper than any exchange.

There is a way to easily scam the Pea Men. First Approach with your wallet open and place your money whilst subtly exposing a large pile of some worthless cheap currency in your wallet. This will tempt them into letting you win your first Bet/s in order to extract the whole lot from you. Place your money, win, then thank them for their time. Be sure you don't get followed.
We were scammed down an alley way just across from the hotel ambassador that had a lot of rails of clothes and the guy stepped out from them and said he was deaf and was collecting for the deaf shoved a clip board in front of us that looked official and stupidly we signed it and donated €10 he was wanting €10 each and we said no - when we walked away we heard him talking quite normally - we realised then it was illegal- also on the beach 2 girls were offering massages which some people got- the police turned up and caught one of them and after a long time with her issued her a ticket/ form so I guess that was illegal- we were there 30th sept to 10th october- first time there- we were caught up in the first scam you were talking about but kind of knew about this one- thanks for the info. You didn't mention the "Benidorm ball flick". Lady of the night sidles up as you walk along and starts talking to you. Your hands are in pockets to deter pick pockets. She flicks you in the balls, you instinctively clutch the old family jewels and she dips your pocket and away with whatever she finds before you know what's happened.
What should be added to the pea men segment is! if you stop anywhere around them to watch you will be a target for there many pickpockets they have in their gang
I loved Benidorm I went every year .I stopped going awhile ago when you had monkeys stealing your gold ,people stealing from your rooms ,disabled people begging, cruelty to dogs and monkeys. Wow look at the scams that are happening now .Really glad I dont go anymore .
I got scammed by the pea man a few years ago I wasn’t aware at the time but after the scam I learned the truth. 3 days later I caught the pea scam guy again further up the beach he was just walking in front of me and I spat on the back of his legs. He wasn’t happy but it’s the least I could do to make a statement 😂
I wish I knew this before. I lost 160€ for guessing where the ball was, I was so sure about the answer but it just disapeared. they were also colaborating with an english man that I thought he was a tourist and he kept winning but afterwards I realized that he was one of the scammers
It's not actually a "pea" its a small piece of green tissue paper. And they squash it in between there fingers so you can't see it. I saw it all day long and many people lost 40 euros or more.
Another scam in I came across,a guy pretending to be deaf with a clip board wanting donations for his charity. DO NOT GIVE HIM ANYTHING. Only found out when a local told me it's a SCAM, beware
Benidorm never heard of this place don't know what country it's in or even if it's a city or town , obviously if you have been here you know the place , but probably 90% have never heard of this place , I'm an Australian guy lived in Phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 for 17 years In all my RUclips videos i say I'm in phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 rather than just say I'm in Phnom Penh, as 90% have no idea where Phnom Penh is , that's why a always say Phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 and add the country flag
Cheers Asa from sunny Oswaldtwistle, lovin the content about Benidorm. Love the place but to everyone, don't leave common sense back in Blightly along with the rain when you go away. :)
Spanish reckless drivers is an understatement. In the UK the crossing points have zigzag areas each side the crossing where nobody is supposed to park or stop; not in Spain, and this does not help the visibility of pedestrians attempting to make a crossing. Beware!
People still park on the zig zags in the UK. Numerous times cars do not stop either - one did when I accidently hit it with my shopling bag as he just missed my toes. The tin of beans apparently startled him. He soon left when I loudly remonstrated about his driving. And where we live kne zebra crossing is right outside a Subway restraunt - Uber eats drivers assume the zebra crossing is for cars - they use the dropled kerb to drive up and park across the pavement when picking up orders. The UK is a dump too.

3) PR's for bars and restaurants, they'll nag you so much you lose your appetite
Glad I saw this, thank you. Going here in July so much appreciated.
I,m native of Benidorm n is true, the potato guys r called "gitanos". I hope u had or still havin' fun in my city👌❤️
Thanks for the info. I’ll just vacation somewhere else
Same everywhere
@@stuarthall2180 where the hell have you been vacationing man

Never there Man. Far too common for me lol.
that pea under a shell crap started in the dodgy areas of the US I see its made it's way to Spain!
Also watch out for Brits displaying Union Jack on clothing, and football shirts.
I’ve been to Benidorm and never want to go back
Loved you on benidorm asa beautiful singer x
Use the Halifax clarity credit card to withdraw cash, When you need cash go into the Bank as you will actually get a better rate than at the ATM at the bank. Then use the Halifax app to pay off the balance from your current account then no intrest payable. ALWAYS pay in the local currency and tell them before they swipe your card.
That’s what I usually do. Great card.
@@AsaElliott it is saves me money when withdrawing cash also use the RBS world credit card for purchases as it's 9.9% ARP with no abroad usage fees and Caxton card as a back up. I never use a service that has a 5% credit card surcharge.
I used that yellow and blue euro net atm in my hotel in Alicante. It costed 4 € fee every time i took money out. I wont use them again. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for all the info.. Always good to know
The gypsies are another one to watch and also the path by the Rio park hotel, known as the yellow brick road if I remember rightly.
Ha ha Rio park yellow brick road me and our kid got our arses handed to us by about 10 locals in 95 on that road 🤣
Great advice, thanks for your help.
There are so many nicer places in Spain like the Balearics for example
There is a way to easily scam the Pea Men. First Approach with your wallet open and place your money whilst subtly exposing a large pile of some worthless cheap currency in your wallet. This will tempt them into letting you win your first Bet/s in order to extract the whole lot from you. Place your money, win, then thank them for their time. Be sure you don't get followed.
If you open a Santander account in UK you can use ATM's in Spain free and choose up to the minute exchange rates.
I have been many times .but stopped going not safe anymore
X from Scotland uk
That type of scam is all over Europe. Anywhere there are tourists
What you need is velcro strips on your pockets, sorts out the pickpockets.
An egg box stuffed down your pants will help stop flick fingers.
Many thanks for information
What should be added to the pea men segment is! if you stop anywhere around them to watch you will be a target for there many pickpockets they have in their gang
Best bet really is just to stay clear of Benidorm. Never been and never will. Looks like Blackpool with sun and palm trees.
Same here.
You showed Ing branded ATMs. I feel they would likely be a more reasonable rate, being a high-street bank.
What about the pick pockets and the women that grab the men (down below) destracting them so they can too be robbed 🙄🤷♀️
Asa you're a great entertainer keep up the good work.
I loved Benidorm I went every year .I stopped going awhile ago when you had monkeys stealing your gold ,people stealing from your rooms ,disabled people begging, cruelty to dogs and monkeys. Wow look at the scams that are happening now .Really glad I dont go anymore .
People stealing from your rooms? Wtf?!
@@ZachAsaD Yes it was the maids.
You spat on him? Why didn't you ask for your money back
Have you ever thought about investing money I know a good scheme.
The kind of person who spits on someone deserves all the scamming and bad luck they get
Im a Spanish Benidorm tourist for the last 25 years, you are right. See you again
Great information Asa and what an amazing singer!!
I never knew about those cash machines thanks I am always on guard
Great thank god for these updates little Spanish scammers!!
@@pammiejones5600 are you sure they are Spanish? I suggest you to go and check it yourself, and maybe you are going to be susprised
Beware everything in Benidorm.
Wisit Croatian coast is less scammers there and nice local people and verry beautiful nature
I just watched the Amazon series Benidorm but had no idea it was a “real” place. Suddenly, my YT feed is full of Benidorm videos. Eerie.
What u think it was a fantasy 🤣
@@urbanreggaeton8626 she thinks Amazon made it, so she probably did. She must be a yank
WOW THIS LOOKS SO GOOD I LOVE THIS MAN AND HIS VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL
Just aviod benidorm or were lots of brits and Irish go on holiday.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love Benidorm, when I visited one of my best places and I love watching Benidorm the TV series and I got the best sun tan like madge ha.
I wish I knew this before. I lost 160€ for guessing where the ball was, I was so sure about the answer but it just disapeared. they were also colaborating with an english man that I thought he was a tourist and he kept winning but afterwards I realized that he was one of the scammers
Are you the guy that played acer elliot singing in Neptune's benidorm
It's not actually a "pea" its a small piece of green tissue paper.
And they squash it in between there fingers so you can't see it.
I saw it all day long and many people lost 40 euros or more.
That game of the scammers have been around for 50 yrs. They were popular in NYC. Who would even talk to these people
If you choose without conversion on the cash machine your bank at home makes the conversion instead giving you a better rate
Another scam in I came across,a guy pretending to be deaf with a clip board wanting donations for his charity.
DO NOT GIVE HIM ANYTHING.
Only found out when a local told me it's a SCAM, beware
Benidorm never heard of this place don't know what country it's in or even if it's a city or town , obviously if you have been here you know the place , but probably 90% have never heard of this place ,
I'm an Australian guy lived in Phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 for 17 years
In all my RUclips videos i say I'm in phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 rather than just say I'm in Phnom Penh, as 90% have no idea where Phnom Penh is , that's why a always say Phnom Penh Cambodia 🇰🇭 and add the country flag
Thanks for the heads up. Very much appreciated
Cheers Asa from sunny Oswaldtwistle, lovin the content about Benidorm. Love the place but to everyone, don't leave common sense back in Blightly along with the rain when you go away. :)
that shop with the old couple in.they robbed me years ago..and it's still going on in their...unbelievable
The ATMs give a really bad exchange rate ? What if you are taking euros out of a Spanish bank ?
Spanish reckless drivers is an understatement. In the UK the crossing points have zigzag areas each side the crossing where nobody is supposed to park or stop; not in Spain, and this does not help the visibility of pedestrians attempting to make a crossing. Beware!
Mate if you think that's bad try the Philippines omg its like the zebra crossing isn't there
People still park on the zig zags in the UK.
Indoor market for money change, Rates are what you see is what you get. Very safe and great rates.
The best thing to do is change your money in the indoor market there are two Bureau de change in there both have really good exchange rates.
Great thanks Asa, does this go on in Ibiza too?
Well.. not exactly this . But other horrid stuff..
