My new little museum on Route 66 here in Stroud, Oklahoma is a non-profit organization with a 3 person board (although I'm the only one of the three that makes financial contributions to the organization). I have not yet applied for my 501(c)3 and have also not looked into the Charity Registration situation here in my state. This is a "one step at a time" process, as I work to build my dream retirement project.
Hello, I just got my 501(c)(3) status 2 days ago I have my website up with donate buttons, but I never knew about the Solicitation of Contributions registration, so should I just put a coming soon status on my website and pause everything until I get approved for Solicitation of Contributions registration, at least in my state?
Check the state regulations and see what they say. They may charge a fin if you solicit without getting approval first but they may also have an exemption process.
