Thx for the detailed review on food! Love this type of focused review instead of just a very overall / general review on the resort. Can't wait to see your review on the privilege club.
We've been to the ORP three times and going there again in 2 days. After viewing this view, I wonder which place, that your were talking about. WOW my next visit will be different , thanks to your terrific view (10/10). Thank you.
Wow! We are about to try ORP for the first time this July. I have been watching as many RUclips videos as you have tried desserts 🤣 Your video review is by far the best I have ever seen on any resort. The great amount of details and your valiant effort to "Try" everything is hugely appreciated! We are debating on upgrading from the Daisy building to the Eden (garden view) as it may be a bit quieter. Your thoughts? Also I do love snorkelling. I hear that the ocean is very rocky. Did you venture in? Thanks again for an amazingly detailed review. I will subscribe!
I would definitely recommend moving to the Eden building unless you are traveling with small children who would prefer the Daisy water area. This trip I didn't get to snorkel as most of the days a red flag was up due to the wind. But yes, rocky was a term I heard used and what I saw exploring along the beach in both directions. You'll have a great time 👍
@@KnockOneOutYT unfortunately due to the excessive sargasso seaweed on the east coast we are forced to look west. We are presently looking at The Crystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta. Have you been there? Any advice / warnings for the west coast? I already know the snorkeling is not good, but the sunsets are supposed to be amazing!
Unfortunately, that resort is not familiar to me. The sargassum continues to be an issue. I'm surprised it has gone on this long, but the world is changing.
It is the very definition of "a diamond in the rough". Will satisfy most people's needs (likely not beach people). Hopefully, the property is maintained, and if they open another spot for breakfast, it will be even better.
It will be posted this week. Still editing, it will be worth it. Tip: Plan where you want to eat and what time for the first couple of nights as your butler will ask.
Your videos are great. So helpful and informative. I have a few questions...It seems that no restaurants require pants or closed toe shoes for men. Is this true? Also I watched another video that said the steakhouse is the only restaurant that required a reservation and the rest were first come. Do more restaurants require a reservation? If so which ones and can you only reserve on the app once you check in? Thanks!
Thank you very much. Pants no as long as it's not a bathing suit, shorts were accepted. Closed to shoes is a different matter as I never wore sandals to dinner. I'm certain I did see some sandals, but I personally wouldn't risk it. Blue Moon did require pants and shoes when I visited. Reservations were required and booked by butler when I stayed, but I heard that in early 2023, reservations weren't required. As it seems to change, I can't confidently answer that question.
Your reviews of this resort are so helpful, as they are in-depth and straightforward. Are you allowed to take food from the coffee bar or snack bars back to your room? Are you allowed to take to-go boxes from the restaurant back to your room? I understand there is no eating by the pools, but didn’t know if you were not allowed to remove any food from the restaurants or snack bars. .
Taking food out wasn't an option I saw, was offered, or saw anyone else doing. Ocean Riviera kept the resort cleaner this way. The monkeys would overtake the resort if food was lying around. I'm sure if you brought a piece of Tupperware, the coffee shop would use it but for bigger meals in your room, better to use room service.
Monkeys and Coatis are the two common animals you will see. I did see a monkey sitting at a table outside of Mike's Coffee eating food left out. Also saw a monkey go into someone's purse to steal a banana. People will take bananas from the buffet to feed monkeys. Signs saying don't but it doesn't stop them. This is why you can't eat pool side. A few birds here and there. Animals were never an issue, they added to the atmosphere.
Wow! I really like this video, very detailed information since I'm also going to ORP next month. I'm also considering on getting a tour to a cenote and a night out of resort for a recommended restaurant in Playa del carmen, in your opinion what's the worst location at the resort to stay, is the walking distance pretty harsh to go to restaurants, beach or even the lobby?
It's a long answer as it really depends on who you are, who's going with you, any mobility issues, pool or beach person, etc. I think I'll do a video on this topic. If you answer the questions above, I can give you my opinion. My personal preference was the privilege building. My reasons are in the privilege level experience video.
did you actually order more than one app, main and dessert? is that even allowed? (Id I can eat!) did you get them at the same tie? it says dress shoes in blue moon, is this strict? or are nikes or vans ok? thank you!
Typically I don't order extra of all three as I can't eat it all, especially late in the trip as I would have already eaten so much. Also depends on how active I was in the pool that day. Pretty standard for me to order two appetizers at the same time. When it's dessert time, I'll usually order two as well. It's absolutely allowed and sometimes essential when I'm only able to go to a restaurant once. There may be dishes I want to try so I take the opportunity to try. Most of these places portion sizes are not that large. You can always order something but say hold the sides. If it's just some vegetables, potatoes, or french fries, you probably know what those taste like. Of course, if you are traveling with people you know and everyone can agree on ordering something different, that is another way of trying multiple dishes without having to feel like you'll explode. Last thing, I don't eat like this at home. I eat really well before a trip so I don't feel too guilty when I do gorge. Regarding the shoes, you'll likely be able to get away with them if they're not a really bright or loud colour. Having said that, I will say that Blue Moon had the best dressed people. No one wearing a suit or anything though.
If we are staying at the "daisy" side do we have access to all the specialty restaurants? Can we walk in or do we make reservation through an ocean app or in person?
You'll have access to all restaurants except for the restaurant in the privilege building and possibly the adults only restaurant. I was fortunate enough to have a butler who booked my restaurant reservations (don't recommend the butlers). No app available when I stayed. Make sure to check for updated information on the hotels website or booking site though as hotel policies can change.
Very nice detailed video - infact this is the only video covering all restaurants in detail - I am travelling in 2 days so very useful - one question , for privilege is the menu different at any or some dinner restaurants other then the lounge ? thanks
The menus are the same no matter if you are privilege or not. And you are correct about the privilege lounge having its own menu. Enjoy the lounge as the food and drinks are good and definitely worth going for at least one breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It definitely is not a beach resort, meaning the beach is adequate, but don't choose this resort if you prefer to spend most of your time at the beach. I walked along the beach to the neighboring properties and found that their beaches were worse. Overall the resort was quite good with lots of options for food, drinks, pools.
Can you explain if you know in the buffet, they have a different theme night every night …. What’s the friday “gala theme “? Once again , what a great review !
There is a different theme for the dinner buffet every night. Italian, Asian, Mexican, etc. I don't remember all the themes. Don't recall a specific gala night but I also chose not to eat at the dinner buffet after trying the breakfast and lunch buffets.
The tamarind stick was felt I’m Mexican my family all loves tamarind but I hate the taste. Kinda funny you say squired taste I’ve yet to acquire it 😂 it’s always in cocktails too at my family parties but it’s definitely never ruined my drink experience :)
As a Mexican, I would love your thoughts on my Mexican Candy video I just did. There is a lot of tamarind in the candy. Do you recognize many of the candy? Are they common?
Besides amaranth buffet, any other restaurants serve breakfast? Where can I get Tropical fruits and smoothies For breakfast if I dint want the usual eggs/bacon/hash type of food? Does mike’s coffe serve breakfast and what are the options? Thanks for your video it really helps!
If you stay in the El Beso section, you have access to an adults only sit down breakfast. I believe it's served in the Blue Moon restaurant. If you stay in the Privilege section you have access to the Privilege lounge which has a small but good breakfast buffet and a menu if you prefer to order. Amaranto buffet does have tropical fruits and juices/smoothies. There is also a juice bar by the beach. Mike's Coffee has pastries (think bready stuff) in the morning but nothing hearty, no eggs, cereal, meats, fruit, or anything like that.
And unfortunately deciding to purchase the privilege level isn't an easy choice because what may be valuable to someone is worthless to someone else (e.g. having a butler).
When are you going to post about the privledge? Been waiting patiently and checking for it for 8 days. We are Booked privledge and very much enjoyed your first review of the food and drink. Please post soon!!
Ok, so I've never stayed at an all-inclusive place. And I keep seeing different videos on them about how to be careful of hidden fees. My question to you is, when you stayed here, did you have to pay for any of your food you reviewed in this video? Thank you
One of the reasons I stay at all-inclusive resorts is because I do not want to pay anything extra. With cruises, there are always extra charges for certain restaurants. I hate that. All food and restaurants I show/ate at were included in the price. Hidden fees could be if you order a fancy bottle of wine or at the bottom of some menus I believe there is a very large steak you can order. I ordered a regular size steak and was happy. Everything is written on the menus. Whenever I hear about people getting hit with extra charges, it's after going to the spa which isn't free.
Pretty relaxed actually. You can't wear bathing suits or anything in the evening but men can wear shorts and a decent shirt. Woman have more options, but again no bathing suits. Only restaurant that was rigid was Blue Moon, requiring a collared shirt and pants for men.
I forgot to mention that I wore close toe shoes for every dinner. Don't look at feet, so I'm not sure what other people were wearing. Women can wear open toe but I recommend bringing close toe shoes for men. Kids can wear whatever they want.
Great review thank you Many bad reviews on TripAdvisor specially about not everything being covered and resort trying to charge them for different things for example drinks or accommodation……. Is that true?
I did not experience any attempt to charge me for drinks or accommodation. Once on property, I put my wallet in my room safe, kept a few bills for tips and enjoyed the all inclusive experience. If you're traveling with a family, this is a good resort due to the variety of activities, food, drinks, etc.

So nobody is mentioning how hot their restaurants were. You were sweating your butt off while eating. I had a bad experience, i just got back a few days ago. Service was terrible, food was terrible. They wouldn't even accommodate a family of 10 in restaurants, i asked if they can seat us at least next to each other, and they refused. Seperated usbin 3 sections, whule the restaurant was damn near empty, I sat and it took my food forever to get to me, all the while a table for 8 sat empty right across from me and next to it a rable for 2. Definitely could of sat us together, and then we were told they would if we bought a couple bottle of wine, like you're kidding right.. I'm not paying for wine at an all inclusive. Overall, i visit Mexico at least twice a year, love it, loved every place i stayed at..but this one isn't the one. I would never recommend this resort to anyone. @@alexhakimi7642 watch more reviews, don't base anything on this one negative experience. I have heard and seen nothing, but positive opinions and reviews from this resort. I would imagine parties of 10 are difficult for most resorts.
