    What’s this you are using to make plays

    AWESOME VIDEO!!! THANKS! What about in the "Empty Set" have the T run the "Skinny" post, Y running the fade, and the R running the hitch? QB hasa easier read with a Cover 2 (Safety to Corner) and 3rd read is Hitch.

      Thanks for watching coach. And that's a nice play design.

    What timing/technique are you teaching your OL to keep from being downfield on your Y fade? I mean obviously you are reading the zone first . . .

    Hey coach, on the Y Corner where he runs the “slot fade” is that the “only” way you are running it now? or do you run BOTH variations?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  5 лет назад +1

      We run both

      How do you call it that so the kids know the difference?

      Coach McKie
      How do you tag the fade instead of corner?

    Do teams really go 2 high and leave your "T" uncovered? Do they adjust by bringing saftey down to cover him?

      You would be surprised how defenses line up like that. Yet nobody talks junk a out that. Haha

    While I found this good and informative, I do disagree with you on receivers blocking. Yes, they are on the field to catch passes and help you score points, but, blocking not only for RB's but also other WR's downfield, they become more dominant. *Mike Leach* is HUGE on his receivers blocking and you can see that in any game tape of *Texas Tech* or *Washington State*. Other than that, good video. And don't give up on the slant, particularly if you have a fast outside receiver.

      Coach Death,
      I agree that wide receivers should block. And I want them to block. But I can't really go out and recruit like Mike Leach can. So if I have a little guy who can catch the ball and run for days then I am going to let me do that instead of trying to block a linebacker for a screen. I'm not saying that I am right. It's just what works for us.
      You are correct on not giving up on the slant, and I haven't. You are right about it being good. We've busted a couple of long TDs during spring off of the slant route. I figured out my problem with it - we didn't rep it enough.

      I am almost in the same situation as Coach McKie. Only my best receivers would rather play basketball so I need to "give up a little" to accommodate them. Problem usually that occurs at small high schools.

    Tagging y stick is it hand signals numbers or both?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      It's a hand signal. The past couple of years it has been me breaking a stick with both hands. Defenses have caught on so it will be a different hand signal this year.

      Coach Ortega,
      Which concept are you asking about tagging?

    Do you tag your PA or build PA in the concept?
