I have always been fascinated by military parades and drills. The gun salute is one that stands out. Those ladies in the Women's Corps did very well. Thumbs up to the Guards Sergent. The CDS indeed inspected the Guard-of-Honour - properly positioning the rifles of the two female guards.

A friend of mine, the son of a Four Star US Airforce General was a young Second Lieutenant at the time. He borrowed his dad’s car to go back to his base after leave but forgot to take off his dad’s stars, you can only imagine his surprise when the Base Commander was there to meet the car as he arrived at the gate of his base.

@@fabbierose2858 it’s a true story, he wasn’t pretending, it was a mistake. Both father and son were called Walter Sweeney, look him up. General Sweeney was at that time the Head of SAC. It's not necessarily about the one individual, it is about the office the "individual" holds !
It's the military tradition everywhere in the world!
For a start Nigeria is only one of a few countries in the world that manufacture or assemble cars!
For two, Nigeria has an insurgency situation!
If the chief of defence staff was attacked and lost his life, you would be the same person to mock and jeer and ask why wasn't he protected enough?

@@omolaniayanshola4278 if you're conversant with events happening before, during and after the war in Nigeria, you'll definitely have a changed mind about Igbos behavior against Nigeria. Possibly you read about the war, watched it's movies or heard about it as a story or one of those "tales by the moonlight" but has no experience of it whatever, so you'll not understand. But that same war story means personal experience of untold hardship of unimaginable proportion, sickness, hopelessness, pogrom, massacre and deaths of millions of loved ones - parents, husband's, wives, children, sisters, brothers, families wipes off the face of the Earth in most horrendous manner. In all these, no sympathy, reconciliation or rehabilitation in anyway given to Igbos to heal. War is not a new thing, nation's will always go to war to settle scores when that becomes inevitable. But war has rules of engagement. In wartime children, elderly ones, pregnant women are protected. Hospitals, schools, markers are not objects of Target and bombing. Pregnant women are not ripped open, civilians are not rounded up and massacred.
The man complained about ill treatment given his father by Nigerian Army found it hard to forgive, what would he do if that same father was killed, his entire family is wiped out, millions of his tribesmen, women, children destroyed and surviving ones subjected under varrying institutionalized discrimination and sustained marginalization? That is exactly the feeling of most Igbos in today's Nigeria.
Biafra shouldn't be a buzzword that ones mentioned people goes offensive, that experience is now part of our experience and history. Way forward is to avoid it's reoccurrence, heal it's past and reconciled for better future. So tomorrow children will also read and be told what went wrong and how it was solved.
