- SpaceX launched Falcon Heavy from LC-39A, Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA on Tue Feb 06, 2018 20:45 UTC.
Maiden flight of the Falcon Heavy. The primary mission was a complete success. Additionally, both side boosters successfully performed experimental landings. The center core failed an experimental landing attempt. The payload onboard was Elon Musk's midnight cherry Tesla Roadster that was placed into a heliocentric orbit. The car is carrying the mannequin Starman - sporting a real SpaceX spacesuit. Falcon Heavy proved to be the most capable heavy lift vehicle and the most powerful rocket in the world to this date, while being reusable.

This technology gives man kind a shot in the arm by lowering cost substantially to explore the heavens .

I drove 13 hours from Ohio to watch the falcon heavy launch. I will never forget that moment. If you get the chance to go to a launch DO IT.

Goosebumps! Reminds me when I saw the Space Shuttle Columbia's first landing in 1981. We can accomplish anything with time and effort.

Too bad about that center booster. Did they ever find out what happened? It was pretty neat seeing how quick the grid fins reacted On the last 500 ft to touchdown. It’s pretty amazing.
They did years ago. It’s available online. They’ve never managed to recover a centre booster. They landed one but it later fell over in rough weather. They’ve stopped trying to recover the centre booster.
I am eagerly waiting to see india doing similar stuff. Hats off.
