The tsar's ballerina lover Mathilde Kchessinskaya escaped from Russia, settled in Paris, and married a Romanov Grand Duke. She ran a ballet studio, taught, and coached a number of famous dancers, including I believe the great Dame Margot
Fonteyn. Kchessinskaya died at age 99 in 1971.

Another interesting thing, is that the Tsar refused to go to war, and only did so because he had no other choice, as Germany declared war. The Tsar is an amazing character, because on one hand he was an Absolute ruler but yet couldn't do much, on another hand he was affectionate but couldn't allow affection to get to him. He was afraid but couldn't allow fear to over rule him. I guess none of us where there. What ever happened, the Royal family did not deserve such a fate, ever!

@zammitrod Well...there's more to it than that. Indeed not enough was done to help the people with the barest of necessities such as bread. however the Tsar was surrounded by incompetents, those who really wished the downfall of the Tsar, which is to no surprise that the monarchy did fall, as Nicholas II had many enemies, so by the time he gave orders, the order was soon altered, such for example was the protest which had taken part outside the winter Palace, Nicholas never gave orders to shoot.

Didn't one of Nicholas II's contemporaries say that if it was said of Caesar that he had no flaws, only vices then it could be said of Nicholas II that he had no vices, only flaws. He had no vices and was in fact a kind man and a very devoted husband and father, but he was hopelessly flawed as a ruler, and I can't help but feel that he does bear some responsibility for the collapse of his country and the rise of the worst a totalitarian regime that murdered tens of millions.

Also, the train built by Alexander III and kept in Finland survives in the Finnish National Railroad museum, so we know how they were furnished. The train usually consisted of two locomotives and 10 cars. When the whole family was traveling it could be more, including a special Orthodox chapel car.

Does anyone know where on RUclips I can watch the full movie not in parts? There used to be a link, but it is gone. I mean no disrespect to the person[s] who provided the video above, but throughout the movie, the soundtrack is not in sync with the video. It is like watching a Pippi Longstocking film.

@huberlitvac No, the real one was put on display on the grounds of Peterhof after the revolution and destroyed during the Siege of Leningrad. It is however a very good reproduction.

My mother says he did have his share of mistakes, for example once he ordered to shoot a whole industrial facility workers upon inspection. I don't know if this is entirely true of course, my mother isn't the best at history, but we are Kievan so it must have some substance to it.

does it say anywhere how the Tsar felt about what happened under his rule? Like did he regret it or feel sorry for what happened.
