I like the idea that the crux of Rick and Morty is that there was a version of Rick who loved his family more than himself, and another who loved himself more than his family. When those two sides possibilities came in contact, the multiverse was changed

If those super smart versions decided to give every other version of you the technology they invented, most of you would be able to make use of it. But most of you wouldn’t have the intelligence to innovate on it, because those versions aren’t super smart. I didn't even know there was a new season, I started seeing clips on RUclips that I didn't recognise, the voices sounded off at points, so I came to the conclusion they were fan made, but then I saw people mention the death of Rick Prime in the comment section. You can definitely tell the voice change, but its not unbearable. The main difference is the voices sound deeper than Justin's versions.
The voice sounds so off It's literally almost unwatchable. I'm not saying that to be a hater or say the new guys doing a bad job... But it's literally almost unwatchable for me.

And even though i dont quite like it all ricks looking different is to make it easier for the audience not be lost and overwhelmed, they dont do to Mortys tho and i wish there was a way to do it with ricks. BUT in this case simbolize how they went on different paths and in slightly different places which is great. And every rick sounds different which is FANTASTIC voice acting (his best is in Prime's last moments)
Ian Cardoni is at least as good as Justin Roiland. Roiland just has the advantage of being the original voice of Rick, so people automatically associate him with the character. However, when I first watched the season, I didn't even know that any recasting had happened. I didn't hear another voice actor doing an impression of Rick. I just heard Rick. If anything, Cardoni's delivery emphasized that he's BETTER than Roiland ever was. The only time Roiland came close to the raw, unfiltered emotion of Rick Prime's final moments was when he yelled "Bird Person, no!" That's nothing compared to Prime laughing, coughing, screaming his final words, and finally going out with a whimper when Rick finished him off. In Morty's case, I can notice a bit of a difference but for all the moments that didn't quite land, there are at least 5 more where Harry Belden nailed it. In Evil Morty's case, it even sometimes helps. For example, people have criticised Belden's delivery of "Motherfucker" but I think that helps differentiate Evil Morty from the other Morty's. It also emphasizes that Evil Morty is so apathetic in general that he's almost forgotten what frustration sounds like.
Something interesting that there might be more of…evil Morty was curious how Diane got wiped from existence and Rick 137 right away knew and Morty seems to give Rick a look like “how did you know that?”. Even after Rick mentions he heard the name from an inferior which is interesting because that’s exactly what Rick prime likes to do is label all other Ricks as inferior
I think it has more to do with he had his brain hooked up twice to a scanner and never once did this come up. All Ricks see other Ricks as inferior and to an extent they are not wrong Only two Ricks invented portal travel Rick and Rick prime.
I suspect that Rick C137 is mocking Rick Prime by saying he got that name from an "inferior" as it was Rick C137 who named it the Omega Device. And Rick Prime using the name is really showing that Rick C137 is better. This also points to Rick C137 either building or at least designing such as device at some point. Evil Morty may be in for a big surprise if/when he ever tries to use an Omega Device. sm

I just realized. The whole system is automated, and based on a weight sensor. I think that's why it sends both Mortys together to the same box. Together, they weigh as much as one Rick.
i think it sends the mortys together because they were too light to separate in time, so they slide down way faster than the ricks do, it would be a design flaw if it wasn't designed to kill all the participants anyways
(Spoiler alert) I have a question, during the slide scene does the light blue gauge with 10 bars each measure the power level or weight (including body weapons) of each individual that passes through the slide, if so is that why the main rick has 8 levels while the rick with the brown jacket (without the hat) has 9 levels on the gauge and are the last 2 ricks to fight each other. If so does that mean the rick with the brown jacket could have defeated main rick if evil morty didn't helped him out? And if the killing machine is automated by weight why did the machine let the 2 ricks fight each other when main rick was suppose to fight the 2 mortys to reduce the weight and advance to the next fight?
I'm not sure about the blue meters but it would seem both Mortys still weren't enough weight to equal that of Rick's weight. Rick, while also having more body mass than Morty, also has an immense amount of cybernetics installed in him which means that's alot of metal and other equipment making him heavier than a normal man. Evil Morty has cybernetics, Morty C-137 does not. I would assume that their combined weight might've been close to Rick's own weight but not quite and since the machine is automated, it just assumed that it was one heavy Rick as Rick Prime even points out.
This trap seems to be all about weight. Different Ricks weighted different due to cybernetic implants. Our Rick probably had the second highest amount of implants. More doesn't mean better. Our Rick had less equipment but still just as or even deadlier than most. Evil Morty is a clear example of that. He has some deadly ones as well but he is all about compact and efficient tech so the weight wasn't much different.
It's not a power level, it's just a local ID defining where should they land. That's why out of 9 participants only those got the same number (the Morties) that landed in the same spot.

Based on his behavior, Prime Rick probably nearly got his mind broken when he realized he’s just one of an infinity amount of Ricks, but realized he could rig it in such a way that he is always the **best** Rick. Refusing his offer of taking his portal tech goes against that rigging. For someone like prime rick’s way of thinking, that’s sort of like an existential threat.
Are we just going to ignore the fact that no other Rick pointed out the shield evil Morty had? like yeah, Rick prime began moving them very shortly after, but you'd think at least one other would point it out
I like to think that First Rick who got trapped in Death Box (Disheveled Rick) is the alternate version of Rick C-137 at the period of time when he was actively searching for Rick Prime in his youth (at his “Bladerunner” stage), but unlike Rick C-137 who gave up on this, Disheveled Rick never stopped and continued his revenge path until he got caught.
I saw in another short clip of this that when they are all sent down the slide, the bar beside them was actually determining their threat levels. I had to come here to get a better look at how each Rick was scaled. That seemed like a pretty cool addition to me. 🙂
weird new thought but rick prime said “some of you may notice that not only your diane was gone, she was also wiped across infinity” and the added implication that rick c137 is the only rick to invent portal travel cause rick prime killed his family… kinda seems like rick prime wanted to put a target on his own back so other ricks can find him. These guys all seem like truly loner types, like Rick Prime. We have Indiana Jones Rick, nerd Rick, what I think is supposed to be Tyler Durden Rick, the Rick who is too nice to bring his family into things, James Bond Rick, and some action movie Rick who I don’t recognize. “Our” rick is the only one who is family-oriented, or at least re-learned how to be moreso, paired with prime’s abandoned Morty (who over time learned some tech) and the one Morty that got so fed up with Rick’s crap that he became as Rick as he could possibly be. Our Rick and Morty complement each other while Evil Morty complements himself. The two examples of how one could achieve “completion” are the ones that survived and were the ones who were able to take the guy who had all the tech but all the isolation down. Not to get all “high IQ” here but I see a geopolitical/social parallel between the United States and China in Rick Prime vs Evil Morty, Morty C-137 and “our Rick.” The U.S. needs to stop having a culture of isolation if they’re going to have their technological cake and eat it too. It’s a hard pill to swallow but I think there’s a grain of truth to it. It’s also almost midnight where I am and I’m really tired. Sorry for rambling.
When the first element that dark cube I was kind of hoping it was going to be a Cube reference. Shootout works, but a lot of the ricks just weren't very good at that kind of thing. I guess it keeps it short to continue moving the narrative along.

So this is just a little confusing: in both flashbacks, we see child Beth and Dianne killed by a bomb. Dianne dies across infinity, but Beth doesn't. I'm assuming C-137 was the first Rick to deny his offer, so he bombs his family but they're alive in other dimensions for a bit. Rick doesn't enter those dimensions, replace himself, and deceive his family because he isn't totally detached enough to do that yet, so instead he spends his youth and middle-aged years hunting Rick Prime and helping Birdperson with the Galactic Federation. RP probably made the device and infinity-killed Dianne after being denied by other Ricks, as well as hearing about other Ricks being killed across the multiverse. This is the only way I can make sense of the fact that Beth still exists in other universes despite dying at the same time and with the same device as C-137 Dianne. This also makes sense since either pre or post-Kronenberg Beth (I can't remember which) mentions that she and her mom had a hard time by themselves after their Rick was out of their lives, proving Dianne wasn't infinity-killed at the same time that Dianne C-137 was killed.
Why the heck is a Nice Rick in a game of violence now i noticed. Hes the kind of Rick whod spend more time with his family than slavery in a battery. Even so he looks like the guy whod not be benefitted to the Finite Curve.
I kinda wonder what is the deal with other Ricks here. From what we know, we could assume that any other Rick besides Prime and C-137 was, one way or another, given portal gun tech and after that they most likely bailed on their wifes. Yes, we saw many Ricks live with Beth later on, but nothing suggest that other than C-137, any Rick cared enough to refuse promise of the multiverse and stay with their wife. So what drived them to seeking revenge? I could see the possibility that they accept the offer of taking the portal gun, but when they found out what happened to their wife after they left, they still cared enough to seek revenge, but I have to say, it's a little funny that they though they could take on Prime, since they didn't even invent their portal guns, which really maked them inferior to Prime and C-137.
I wonder if the Omega Device erase things from all universes, or just all universes within the central finite curve. If it is the latter, then there are Diannes in universes where Rick is not the smartest person.
Funny thing I realized. Rick was in Primes universe when he denoted himself C-137. Either thats hos original universe and morty isnt C-137 Morty. Or, C-137 is Primes universe and our rick is technically another designation
What's the Rick Prime's motives to do this? I mean the whole "erasing Diane" thing is a hard work with no benefits at all. Why would anyone do that? Especially for Rick.
In this same episode it's stated that both Rick Prime and Rick C-137 were the only ones to invent dimensional travel and that Rick Prime killed Diane because she was "dragging Rick down", suggesting that his motivation is a rather sadistic effort to level his look-a-likes up to his own league. He doesn't actually gain anything from this expect the gratification of knowing that other Ricks can perceive everyone else as inferior beings the same way he does BECAUSE of him.
With new writers making the story and since they basically killed him off early it's anybody's guess. Basically killing Thanos in the first avengers lmao
This episode felt like poorly thought out fan fiction- I dont understand all of the praise its getting. It would have been better character writing to have the truth be that only rick c-137's Diane was killed and he could never bring himself to replace her despite always saying nothing and noone matters. It would make the evil ricks motivation make sense (by only killing c-137's Diane) and add more depth to rick c-137's character.

The reveal that he used the "Omega Device" kind of made Rick C-137's journey for vengeance less special, because even though we know other Ricks suffered for the same thing, there's an infinite amount that didn't. Diane was special to C-137 and it's a weird creative decision in my opinion to make it so she actually doesn't exist anywhere else and he has nothing different about him in regards to other Ricks from this point of view. Maybe a good alternative would be to make Dianes present in a few dimensions but his grief won't allow him to simply live with them. Both C-137 and the other Ricks would still feel special because they wanted THEIR Diane and went on to hunt down Rick Prime because of her, while also making the rarity of Diane herself something very present in the back of these Ricks's minds.

That's genius writing, the way prime treats everything like a game and uses everybody is fantastic, someone like that would totally get a family out of whim, also was super cool to see how the loss of diane affected other ricks in different ways, great touch. I love how calm Evil Morty is in all of this and im sad they're not seeing Prime's deception, but IT'S SO DAMN TEMPTING to accept!!!! You should at least gain evidence he can do that and a garantee he will do it for you "smartest men in the universe"!
one of the problems with multiverse stories is clearly shown in rick and morty, even at one point being called out by them selves. despite all the differences between universes, they're still the same person, and therefore retain the same baseline abilities and personalities, especially when you consider how they all went through the same traumatic event. they should be on par with C-137 or at least give him a challenge in a 1v1 duel. instead they're treated like any other villain of the week, and dealt with just as easily

i think it sends the mortys together because they were too light to separate in time, so they slide down way faster than the ricks do, it would be a design flaw if it wasn't designed to kill all the participants anyways
(Spoiler alert) I have a question, during the slide scene does the light blue gauge with 10 bars each measure the power level or weight (including body weapons) of each individual that passes through the slide, if so is that why the main rick has 8 levels while the rick with the brown jacket (without the hat) has 9 levels on the gauge and are the last 2 ricks to fight each other. If so does that mean the rick with the brown jacket could have defeated main rick if evil morty didn't helped him out? And if the killing machine is automated by weight why did the machine let the 2 ricks fight each other when main rick was suppose to fight the 2 mortys to reduce the weight and advance to the next fight?
I'm not sure about the blue meters but it would seem both Mortys still weren't enough weight to equal that of Rick's weight. Rick, while also having more body mass than Morty, also has an immense amount of cybernetics installed in him which means that's alot of metal and other equipment making him heavier than a normal man. Evil Morty has cybernetics, Morty C-137 does not. I would assume that their combined weight might've been close to Rick's own weight but not quite and since the machine is automated, it just assumed that it was one heavy Rick as Rick Prime even points out.
This trap seems to be all about weight. Different Ricks weighted different due to cybernetic implants. Our Rick probably had the second highest amount of implants.
More doesn't mean better. Our Rick had less equipment but still just as or even deadlier than most.
Evil Morty is a clear example of that. He has some deadly ones as well but he is all about compact and efficient tech so the weight wasn't much different.

I like to think that First Rick who got trapped in Death Box (Disheveled Rick) is the alternate version of Rick C-137 at the period of time when he was actively searching for Rick Prime in his youth (at his “Bladerunner” stage), but unlike Rick C-137 who gave up on this, Disheveled Rick never stopped and continued his revenge path until he got caught.

These guys all seem like truly loner types, like Rick Prime. We have Indiana Jones Rick, nerd Rick, what I think is supposed to be Tyler Durden Rick, the Rick who is too nice to bring his family into things, James Bond Rick, and some action movie Rick who I don’t recognize. “Our” rick is the only one who is family-oriented, or at least re-learned how to be moreso, paired with prime’s abandoned Morty (who over time learned some tech) and the one Morty that got so fed up with Rick’s crap that he became as Rick as he could possibly be. Our Rick and Morty complement each other while Evil Morty complements himself. The two examples of how one could achieve “completion” are the ones that survived and were the ones who were able to take the guy who had all the tech but all the isolation down.
Not to get all “high IQ” here but I see a geopolitical/social parallel between the United States and China in Rick Prime vs Evil Morty, Morty C-137 and “our Rick.” The U.S. needs to stop having a culture of isolation if they’re going to have their technological cake and eat it too. It’s a hard pill to swallow but I think there’s a grain of truth to it. It’s also almost midnight where I am and I’m really tired. Sorry for rambling.

So this is just a little confusing: in both flashbacks, we see child Beth and Dianne killed by a bomb. Dianne dies across infinity, but Beth doesn't.
I'm assuming C-137 was the first Rick to deny his offer, so he bombs his family but they're alive in other dimensions for a bit. Rick doesn't enter those dimensions, replace himself, and deceive his family because he isn't totally detached enough to do that yet, so instead he spends his youth and middle-aged years hunting Rick Prime and helping Birdperson with the Galactic Federation. RP probably made the device and infinity-killed Dianne after being denied by other Ricks, as well as hearing about other Ricks being killed across the multiverse.
This is the only way I can make sense of the fact that Beth still exists in other universes despite dying at the same time and with the same device as C-137 Dianne. This also makes sense since either pre or post-Kronenberg Beth (I can't remember which) mentions that she and her mom had a hard time by themselves after their Rick was out of their lives, proving Dianne wasn't infinity-killed at the same time that Dianne C-137 was killed.
Only Diane was erased across infinity, not Beth.

I kinda wonder what is the deal with other Ricks here. From what we know, we could assume that any other Rick besides Prime and C-137 was, one way or another, given portal gun tech and after that they most likely bailed on their wifes. Yes, we saw many Ricks live with Beth later on, but nothing suggest that other than C-137, any Rick cared enough to refuse promise of the multiverse and stay with their wife. So what drived them to seeking revenge? I could see the possibility that they accept the offer of taking the portal gun, but when they found out what happened to their wife after they left, they still cared enough to seek revenge, but I have to say, it's a little funny that they though they could take on Prime, since they didn't even invent their portal guns, which really maked them inferior to Prime and C-137.

What's the Rick Prime's motives to do this? I mean the whole "erasing Diane" thing is a hard work with no benefits at all. Why would anyone do that? Especially for Rick.
In this same episode it's stated that both Rick Prime and Rick C-137 were the only ones to invent dimensional travel and that Rick Prime killed Diane because she was "dragging Rick down", suggesting that his motivation is a rather sadistic effort to level his look-a-likes up to his own league. He doesn't actually gain anything from this expect the gratification of knowing that other Ricks can perceive everyone else as inferior beings the same way he does BECAUSE of him.
With new writers making the story and since they basically killed him off early it's anybody's guess. Basically killing Thanos in the first avengers lmao
This episode felt like poorly thought out fan fiction- I dont understand all of the praise its getting. It would have been better character writing to have the truth be that only rick c-137's Diane was killed and he could never bring himself to replace her despite always saying nothing and noone matters. It would make the evil ricks motivation make sense (by only killing c-137's Diane) and add more depth to rick c-137's character.

The reveal that he used the "Omega Device" kind of made Rick C-137's journey for vengeance less special, because even though we know other Ricks suffered for the same thing, there's an infinite amount that didn't. Diane was special to C-137 and it's a weird creative decision in my opinion to make it so she actually doesn't exist anywhere else and he has nothing different about him in regards to other Ricks from this point of view.
Maybe a good alternative would be to make Dianes present in a few dimensions but his grief won't allow him to simply live with them. Both C-137 and the other Ricks would still feel special because they wanted THEIR Diane and went on to hunt down Rick Prime because of her, while also making the rarity of Diane herself something very present in the back of these Ricks's minds.

INSAAAANE, dude it's absolutely cruel and immoral even with "himself", since it's not him he treats like a joker game. The crazy part is that he looks like a chill cool to hangout guy and cool looking as opposed to c137 who looks like the type to act like that, totally crazy and negative. That's genius writing, the way prime treats everything like a game and uses everybody is fantastic, someone like that would totally get a family out of whim, also was super cool to see how the loss of diane affected other ricks in different ways, great touch.
I love how calm Evil Morty is in all of this and im sad they're not seeing Prime's deception, but IT'S SO DAMN TEMPTING to accept!!!! You should at least gain evidence he can do that and a garantee he will do it for you "smartest men in the universe"!

one of the problems with multiverse stories is clearly shown in rick and morty, even at one point being called out by them selves. despite all the differences between universes, they're still the same person, and therefore retain the same baseline abilities and personalities, especially when you consider how they all went through the same traumatic event. they should be on par with C-137 or at least give him a challenge in a 1v1 duel. instead they're treated like any other villain of the week, and dealt with just as easily
