The most amazing tutorials available on the web for creative JS. I did not think it was possible to do all these things in JS at all. You're a genius, and the whole JS developer community owes you
Can you make an extension for a browser(firefox 57+?) To control the browser just using voice. Things like say 'back' to go back, 'refresh' to reload and all. It'd be pretty cool
I know this isn't very relevant to the tutorial itself but does anyone know how Wes is doing those emoji shortcuts? I already know the ctrl + cmd + space trick for Mac, but he seems to be entering unicode and then bringing up a shortcut menu of some kind. I really wanna know how he's doing that lol
bro in google chrome console it is showing an error it is showing Uncaught ReferenceError: SpeechSynthesisUtterence is not defined please give me reply
Hello Wes, the tutorial was really clear but I was wondering if it is possible to synthesise the string into an audio file. I am looking for this feature, but I am just able to find it in java, but not javascript: stackoverflow.com/questions/61322731/synthesize-string-to-a-temporal-audio-file
voices = this.getVoices(); // doesn't work on firefox voices = window.speechSynthesis.getVoices(); ... then on page load call populateVoices(); everytthing else will work.
Gotta say the documentation for this is absolutely terrible. I tried to figure this out on my own based off what i read ..and i kept returning an empty array. Which i of course read is because it returns a promise which is clearly not true.
15:58 You can also modify the toggle function to return a closure function so that you can apply the function to the event listener with an argument

You are my hero! Although it's not good for the API to be able to speak a short text less than 40 words, I love this app! Thanks a lot!
It´s cool, thanks so much!!!
This was by far the one I had the most fun with :D
😲😲😲 Just awesome.
Specially for the bind part.

Is it possible to set the default voice language to another language without changing the settings of the computer?
Does speech synthesis actually translate English to the corresponding words/syntax of the set language?
@Wes Bos, can you record your own voice and put it into the voice filed, so it sounds like your own voice?
how do you make text to speech downloadable on the page?

Interesting! Where is this speech generated? Is that a part of the browser. or it happens on a cloud server and is downloaded?
