- In this episode of the Big Burma Build, my wargaming terrain project, we're setting up a jungle village by using an MDF buildings kit and converting it by basing, detailing and weathering the 4ground MDF kit to match the look of my BBB terrain. With these simple techniques, you'll be able to enhance any jungle MDF terrain buildings, so I hope you find them helpful folks!

First of all. Dude! you are Mel Bose the Terrain Tutor. The one and only. Thousands of people love you. You can do no wrong. I’m so very happy to see you in the studio again. I love this trading post and how it will integrate into the Burma Build. Beautiful. This village needs an outdoors canteen area. Maybe with someone cooking over a open flame. Thanks. See ya next time.
Mel Bose? Got a book by that fella. S'bloody good.
@@harbl99 me too.
Way to make me blush mate
@@TheTerrainTutor You still have 170,000 subscribers on the tube mate
Welcome back Mel. I love the old-school type videos. I hope we will see you a lot more in the studio.
I just want to say welcome back Mel, and it is so nice to see videos from you again!
Nice to see you back Mel. For the village = houses, warehouses, fields, and possibly a mill and a temple
Maybe some open shops - a butchery. Idk what burman villages would have been like tho
It's good to see back in the studio bud.
Animal pens, stone fence, rice paddies, a well and an outhouse.
Mel its soo good to see you back and enjoying the build.. take your time, pace yourself and we will be here to lap up your amazing tips and tricks.. I think "They're not mistakes, just flocking indicators" would make an awesome T shirt
Welcome back!
Whats in a jungle village?
A shed with an ox outside with a fence. Some pigs And a chicken cage. Some hay stacks and crates.
A water well isn't really needed if near the water. But some cannoes...
Maybe some place for Rituals...?
Like that...
Have fun!
Bye
Sylvain
Glad to see you back Mel!
"They're not mistakes, just flocking indicators." 🤣🤣🤣 Welcome back, dude! The brown overspray really did a great, subtle job of dirtying up the building and making it look like it was built on-site a few years back. You don't have to be doing some insane, involved build for us to love your videos, Mel. Basic techniques are worth revisiting on a regular basis, and you do it better than most.
Spot on!🍻
Awesome video! Very excited to see the burma build come back :)
As for building suggestions:
- Some religious shrine
- Radio station (would be a great objective)
- Crashed airplane
- Some burned down buildings
Good to see you back Mel! I think a village watch tower would go nicely. Always love the videos buddy.
Yeah! Kick Ass!
Mel is back building and basing!
The world is getting back to normal at last 🤗
A small overhang acting as a fuel depot would be interesting large scatter.
Sounds like you are back into it. Missed you Mel. Take care.
Yay the BBB is back. This is my absolute favorite of all the builds you have done.
Some kind of traditional religious structure.
A well.
A firepit with a pig on a stick.
Some small huts.
A flagpole. (with a flag)
An animal enclosure. (Dressed up with some livestock)
A guard tower.
And once you get to making water features you gotta add in some fishing boats with nets and other fishing gear.
Live stock and a well would be a good addition to the village
Brilliant job looks great well done keep it up 👍👍👍🤠🤠
Great to see you back Mel! Stay well pal, big love. X
Great to see you back
Glad you're getting your crafting mojo back into swing. This looks really good. Good call, with the final brown wash, and your flocking is always spot-on
Mate, it's truly great to see that you're not only back in the saddle, but clearly buzzing and enjoying yourself. Massively positive stuff! As for ideas, maybe animal enclosures for pigs and chickens, a grain store and some fences to keep predatory creatures from the jungle out?
Mel! Great to see you back. Take it at your own pace. Important to prioritise what matters. Go well, mate!
Thanks bud, it's good to be back at it
So good! Perhaps fishing canoes arranged on a river bank could serve as partial cover? Looking forward to seeing how it evolves! Thank you for being here and sharing the journey.
Great to see you back in the studio Mel. BIg Burma Build Back Better!
I typically don't like the look of MDF kits but these look really awesome. I think the look of those types of buildings are perfect for MDF.
Great vid. Obviously a riverside trading post needs some boats, maybe a net-mending or boat building yard/space? Bar for passing travellers, a temple would look great too.
Good to see you're back and finding your mojo. Several people have mentioned a church and I agree. After all, a trading post will no doubt have a couple of missionary types trying to convert the natives! And a bar (pub) of course for refreshments....
Great to see you back Mel!
What about adding a piece that's the ribs of an old building that fell into disrepair and collapsed - enough to provide a bit of cover, but doesn't block line of sight completely, and from a modelling point of view gives an opportunity make trees poking through the remnants of window frames.
I like that idea
Nice to see you again in the mojo. I would like to see some bunker logs, rice crops also some farm animals...
Great to see you back Mel. Looking forward to the vids. Crack on.
I can’t help but think of “It ain’t half hot Mum” when I look at those finished buildings!! 😂😂. Great work though Mel as usual. 👍🏻
Lovley to have u back Mel! Your vids helped me trough tough times and the main joy is that u got your mojo back!
Im a TTT since 2017 and still going strong! Keep up the Good work mate!
Great to see you back Mel! I really like these sort of small projects and the bed of nails is a classic :) Remember that you have a good base on RUclips and still a lot of fans so you don't have to invent the wheel. Take your time
Great job, that looks amazables Mel…👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Good to have you back, mate! :)
As for suggestions: a traditional shrine juxtaposing the obligatory mission post, a doctor’s hut, and for the fisherman’s hut a net drying out between a couple of posts (blocks movement, but neither LOS or fire).
Return of the Ma… eh.. Mel!🥰
A POW camp would look pretty good in your Burma Build. Maybe a muddy Airstrip might look good too.
Always happy to see you my Dude.
Great to have you back. Learnt so much from you, Luke and Mike from Sweden. This village needs chickens and pigs.
It is good to see you back Mel. This video said it was about converting your MDF kit when in fact it is not. This is about basing a kit. Since I was looking for inspiration on how to hide the marks left from the construction and especially how to make the roof if the kit look better I was disappointed. A better title for this video would be: "Basing your MDF terrain kits" Please consider making a video that does cover detailing and converting a MDF kit.🙂
Nice to see these short videos doing things again. Thank you for coming back.
For jungle table, I would make a watchtower.
Well done Mel glad to see you in tge workshop you are back where you belong. You had a spring in your step. Like to say thanks because your vids and a couple of other guys got me into this malarkey Andy
Lovely job Mel, good to see you looking more like your old self 👏👏
They look great. A communal fire or cooking pit. Maybe an alligator hunter/skinner hut.
Good to get to reconnect with you Mel! Nice to hear your voice 😀
As far as village scatter, I second the idea of a chicken coop!
Also, maybe drying racks/line? Or a threshing circle?
Such a wonderful come-back Mel, superb buildings and fantastic attention to details on the ground...👍👌
great to see ou back in the studio mel!
i think some sort of church or temple would be nice for the village
Love seeing you back, Mel. I enjoy every episode you produce. I hope you find the peace of mind you seek and continue to share your skill with us.
SO glad you're back man!! Be back and stay back! Your videos got me back into the hobby after a 15 year hiatus -- and this hobby has helped me with nearly a year now of sobriety. This community needs you!!
Thats awesome mate
@@TheTerrainTutor -- Cheers Mel!
Great to see you back on form- some overgrown jungle ruins would be cool.
Great to see you back Mel! Been really worried about you over the "break".
There are no mistakes just "happy little accidents" that will allow for creativity!
I really think that you should put in a village temple and roadside shrine.
Best wishes and great having you back. ~Nick
Nice to see your back in the groove. Keep on Cracking, Mel.
How about a chicken coup?
Anyway, nice to have you back, inspiring as always.
Great to see you back Mel, all the best with the channel. On the BBB, how about a rusty iron girder road bridge across that river. Garrison or outpost Barracks with small parade ground (complete with white painted boundary rocks and flagpole).
Mel, you rock! Back in the saddle, baby!
Yes!!!!! SO good to see you again!!!! YOU'RE THE REASON I GOT INTO TABLETOP GAMES! All I wanted to do was figure out how to craft my 3D Catan board to wow my brother. Boom you channel came up first. Your energy and advice was the most treasured relic I found. I watched... Every. Single. Video. Thank you so much. I can not wait to see what else you come up with!!!!!
Plenty more to come mate!
So good to see you back Mel, I've really missed these kind of videos from you.. I know you stream Sundays but it's just not possible for me to watch long streams due to work and family life so these videos are a welcome return!
Love love love Mel!!! I would love to see some rice fields or some sort of food and drink production. Do some nice and easy shallow uv resin poor. Be interesting to see what you come up with. Still a long term patron! I am so happy to see you back in action. You have been missed!!!
Its good to be back in action mate
Mel, it's so good to see you back in the studio again! :)
I'm impressed with how quickly you made these terrain/building pieces come together. Looks like they hit the sweet spot for realistic appearance and playability.
Thank you! 😊
Holy shit he's actually back!! And in a HD camera!!!!
Love to see you back to these videos, especially with the BBB. I think an air strip might be cool. Just a small thing meant for the old Sopwith type planes.
Very enjoyable video,I,m more railway orientated but it tranfers over well. Loved the mixed herbs, looks like dead grass and leaves. Please keep going with the how to vids. I really enjoy them.
Cheers Dave
Mel is back! Amazing way to start the week!
Back to basics, nice to see you back in the studio. I love these episodes.
So happy you're back! Missed your excitement and energy.
😊 thank you
You definitely need a watchtower! And cooking pits, along with an outside "kitchen" :)
What a inspiration you are Mel, great video nice to see you back, maybe a check point or some over hanging camouflage.👍
mel, Its soooo good to see you back! You are one of my absolute favorite youtobers. As for suggested builds for the burma village, you should make an old truck thats used to power a mill or something just like in the Predator movie. Ofcourse without arnold lifting it up and sending it into the village as a distraction!
Oh thank you!
great to see a new video and in the BBB Playlist at that! Missed you, Mel! I hope your mojo comes back fully so you can do what I know you love!
It is soo good to see you getting back in the saddle good sir! I wish you all the best in the world.
Good to see you back in the saddle Mel. Sorry for not commenting in a while; I no longer have access to a workspace and don't much tend to watch craft videos under such nconditions.Nice looking terrain. It shows off how good something can look without being super over complicated.
Welcome back, Mel. Great to see you and watch a video.
Me cuesta seguir tus videos, no hablo ni entiendo ingles, pero me encanta ver lo que haces!
Great to see u bk buddy producing inspirational terrain. A Look out tower or elevated guard hut might fit in with your bbb. Keep the vids coming Mel
Finally back at what you excel at!!! We all missed you Mel, and yes I did by your book also we all totally enjoy your videos.
Bravo Zulu Mel! Glad to see your smiling face back on the channel! How about a small guard tower or two?
people watch your videos because they like seeing you and you're fun to watch. you don't have to make extreme videos, just do something simple and have fun with it and i'll happily watch it :p
Great to see you back Mel you Burma Table inspired me to do my Own Pacific Table for my Marine's and Japanese Stay well!!
Good to see you "crackin' on" Mel !!
Good to see you back Mel.
The end piece looks great with the added bits. Great ideas mate for us to use
Great to see you back in the studio cracking on. Hope you're doing well. These MDF kits look great. Heading over the Jungle Village Scatter video now.
Doing projects and maintaining inspiration and drive sometimes comes down to picking your battles, and doing something nice and simple can really be the way to go, if not even a launching pad for more ambitious undertakings. Either way, happy to see more stuff from you! I still go back to your older vids for ideas and refreshers!
well if the village is near water, then we do need some fishing equipment. like nets and such. maybe even a drying rack for fish, depends on the village, but dried fish is common enough diet in most parts of the world
You are great. Can't wait to see more. I'm sure what ever you do will be great! If you ever make a mistake just fix it with a joke. :) Some stone ruins might be cool in a jungle. Stone ruins overgrown with vines and moss
So glad to see a video from you , and so excited its a BBB :) I made some jungle terrain following your methods and LOVE it!
Glad to see you back Mel! This video really inspired me to think more about doing some huts for my Seminole Wars games! Keep it up!
That is Flocking Awesome Mel!!!
It wouldn't be a quick build, but how about the wreckage of a crashed plane, all overgrown with vines?
Glad you're back. I love the BBB!
Great to see you getting back in the hobby saddle sir! Love it! :)
Brilliant. Great to see this popping up in my list. Your book has pride of place on my shelf. Ah…as far as something else, some sort o animal enclosure perhaps.
Hiya Mel, Great to see your mojo is returning. Lovely to have you back on form Mate. Brilliant tutorial. May I suggest a vehicle for you BBB...something like the scene out of Predator....
A well, Rice fields, rocks with over grown over the top.
Welcome back Mel! missed your videos :)
good to see you again Mel, hope you are doing alright
Nice to see you back fella
i'm glad to see you mate, yours videos inspire me to join to this hobby. Keep the good work 😀
Could you remind me what type of material is “epdc”
Love it, welcome back, Mel!
More smaller builds would be great...nice to see you back. Maybe a crashed supply plane converted into dwelling.
