  • In this regular expressions (regex) tutorial, we're going to be learning how to match patterns of text. Regular expressions are extremely useful for matching common patterns of text such as email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, etc. Almost every programming language has a regular expression library, so learning regular expressions with not only help you with finding patterns in your text editors, but also you'll be able to use these programming libraries to search for patterns programmatically as well. Let's get started...

Thank you for taking the time to put together an excellent overview of Regular Expressions! You covered enough to get anyone started. Your teaching style makes it very easy to understand the core concepts. Using your examples, one can start assembling more complicated searches to solve more difficult problems. Please put together an Advanced Regular Expressions video.

I was always scared about regex. I favorited this video a year ago, but only now I could prioritize it. Totally worth it.

I've been looking on good tutorials on Regular expressions as I use R often to read messy text files, which requires having good regex knowledge. Yours was hands down the best video I encountered while looking for info on regex. So thank you and wish you lots of luck and success.

I am a relative noob at programming in Python and even more noobesque with regexes, and this is the best explanation of regular expressions and their behaviors that I have found. Outstanding job!

This was the best ever explanation of regex! The presenter is very glib and succinct. Never heard him use "um", "er" or other regular expressions folks do during presentations or conversations.
Not only you adroit in your field but a phenomenal teacher -the last of a kind.
Very much liked, understood regex, and subscribed.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
