- Finally, I have decided to share the long awaited video of this...
With it just being Wicked 5th Year anniversary and we didn't get a reunion :-(, I share this for the good old days!
Opening of Wicked, October 2003, Macy's did a whole window display and Idina and Kristin sang "For Good".
In the HISTORY of Musical Theater (which is actually lengthy) I cannot think of two female singers/actresses who have been so completely complimentary and in sync with each other as Chenzel. Their chemistry was unduplicatable, & their harmonies blend flawlessly. They are Glinda & Elphaba. Without them, Wicked wouldn't be the cultural phenomena it is today.......

The way idina and kristen react to idina's minor note flub at 5:15 is the most adorable thing ever
They have the best harmonies Wicked was never the same after Kristin left. Idina performed the best with Kristin out of everyone they are the best together.

Did they switch harmonies?!? At 5:02 Idina gives her a little nod and a smile, then at 5:05 Idina goes low and Kristin stays high! They switched! Maybe that's why they are all giggles towards the end. OH YOU TWO
They giggled because during every show Kristin would run her fingers along Idinas Hat so out of habit she went to go do it and realized it wasn't there. And touched her scarf instead I believe. Those two have an amazing relationship
They didnt switch harmonies, Idina stays high and kristen stays low if you listen :) and I'm pretty sure they laughed because at Idina's "because I knew you" she's meant to hit a higher note, but she just did the normal tune. Listen to another version of them singing and you'll hear it ahha!

First.... BIG THANK YOU to the uploader for putting this on RUclips! I'm only learning about "Wicked" now (largely due to 'Frozen' and Idina Menzel). Totally surprised at how great the audio quality is and how amazing Kristin and Idina are here..... sung with so much heart and emotion. They are so in sync. Brings tears to my eyes. I can't imagine anyone else in the roles of Glinda and Elphaba for the upcoming big screen "Wicked" film. Idina said they've been told they may be too old by the time shooting begins. I say nonsense. Idina and Kristin look great. Cast others to play Elphie and Glinda at younger ages and let Idina and Kristin play them older as someone suggested somewhere else on RUclips if that's what'll take.
"I don't know if I've been changed for the better, but because I knew you I have been changed for good." Wonderfully powerful lyric, always (k)new, no matter how often heard.

wonderful to hear them both off stage, and to compare the duet to Kristin's surprise duet with Sarah Horn
at 5:18 Kristin messes with Idina's hair. If you have ever seen them perform this song in Wicked you will notice that Kristin messes with Idina's hat every time they sing this. Messing with her hair is suppose to symbolize that part in the play. This is beautiful and shows how great of friends they still are. This brought tears to my eyes.

These two women are amazing. I knew that they've sang this piece numerous times on broadway, and I knew it would be excellent, but I was still blown away and overcome by their amazing talent! I can't imagine how phenomenal it would have been to be there listening to that beautiful song live!.

I totally agree with you. This is my dedication to my grandmother. She passed away two years ago in October. I still miss her dearly. She raised me from the day I was brought home from the hospital, and she truly will be with me like a handprint on my heart. And so much of me is truly made of what I have learned from her.

When I watch this video, I don't see Idina and Kristin, but Elphaba and Glinda. They act the parts so well. Their movements, posture, facial expressions, everything are just perfect. It's mesmerising.

The actual reason for this is symbolic. It's to show how much the characters have grown and changed. Glinda takes the lower part in the duet to show how she's no longer simply the stereotypical girly soprano. I read this in an interview once.
Glinda is actually harmonizing the melody in this song. Her voice is higher throughout.

Every time I see and hear Idina and Kristin singing together, I fall more in love with the both of them. They truly have astonishing voices. Plus Wicked is most definitely my favourite musical, and I really, really love musicals :) Thank you for sharing this brilliant video!

This was filmed while the show was extremely new. They were still making changes and putting them into the show each night.
I love how Idina really gets into character. At 5:15 notice how she tries to hold Kristin's hand and then forgets that she is not on stage and quickly pulls it back. Kristin catches her and pulls her hair!
