Thankfully I was lucky to be there this day, great to see the new generation but sad knowing the Hornets were on the way out, Now not living near Newy but up at Hervey Bay and still see and hear the occasional Hornet flying up or down the coast.
Great footage. I am just not a fan of the f35. They cost too much and correct me if im wrong but was it not said that the f16 was better in a dogfight than an f35?
Did you just compare an f16 to a stealth aircraft? You do realize the f16 would had lost the "dog"fight before it would had even realized it was fighting an f35?
@@DevilDaRebel ...I'm a big fan of the FA 18 and the FA 18 Superhornet ..love 'em .. The F16 too ..but the F 35 will not need to dogfight ..It's already done the job before the F16 and Hornets or so many other jets know what hit them ..That's the whole point .. Glad to know the Growler FA 18 and most if not all the Superhornets will be flying for a fair while yet . The dear old Legacy Hornets are 35 or so years old ..Great servant but now time to pension these beaut old girls off ..
ivan sikaleski the F16 needs to dogfight. The F35 is a BVR aircraft. It fights from 50 to 100 miles away. The F16 never sees the F35 so doesn’t get to dogfight with it. Also, as Wingman drones become part of the equation, the F35 has the capability of operating as a command unit for a drone swarm and in full integration with electronic warfare assets. The F35’s full capabilities will develop over the next decades, but while the F16 still has a role, it is designed for a type of warfare that is becoming obsolete in the long run. The F35 is a lot like the F1-11. Criticised at the time of deployment because of costs and perceived limitations compared to the older generation, (it couldn’t carry as many bombs as bigger bombers did) it ultimately became a hugely important and very versatile aircraft.
The F16 would beat an FA18 in a dog fight too. F35 and FA18 are about the same in a dog fight. That report you’re referring to from a few years ago (“clubbing baby seals”?) was before the F35 was fully operational. They used that exercise to fine tune some things, not to win.

They flew over Newcastle and all of us in the office piled out on the balcony. Quite a sight. Proud of our Air force
Superb filming mate. The shot at 1:14 is really good with the formation.
Rather sad I missed this, I would have loved to see this in person.
Top quality footage mate. Nice work.
Thanks mate I did my best
Both the Lightning and the Hornet Make Good team.Anyone Agree?
Great footage and for an AirForce brat that lived at Williamtown in 1967 - 68 very cool

Thanks . Yeah but the F35 doesn't need to dog fight to win the fight it already has with its computers

Imagine seeing these in an active battle
No class like a Mirage.
