Origins was different while still being AC. Oddysey from a gameplay, mechanic perspective is solid just doesn't feel like AC in fact untill you get to a certain part in the story and the first blade DLC it starts to feel like AC. Unlike most the RPG elements are necessary to this franchise to keep it alive but do not take away things like the hidden blade and focus on the Assassin Order.
Same with Valhalla the cinematic trailer features male eivor but the prequel comic features female eivor as canon and eivor itself is a generally femenine Norse name
They used Kassandra for the novel but the devs themselves said that the canon character is whoever you choose for you story. However, the fanbase took Kassandra being in the novel as canon and made her canon even though that isn’t the case. This is evident as Wikipedia never says Alexios or Kassandra but refers to the character as “the misthois”. Valhalla on the other hand actually had female Eivor as canon so it was strange that they didn’t advertise her as much, but then again Ubisoft has always been lukewarm about this kind of stuff because of the demographics of their playerbase (mostly male). As for Odyssey’s marketing, it isn’t really strange for Alexios to have been everywhere considering that the game never had any official canon character. I personally thought that Alexios was the better protagonist and Kassandra was a better Deimos, but that’s just my preference.
Viking Dragon ships are much smaller than the ships in the trailer, which are Greek torpedo ships, which is the reason they were so dangerous. They were so small that they could snugly fit in any river, and could land directly on shore, while still being ocean worthy, they even got the ships close enough to ransack Paris and get back to Norway before anyone knew what was happening

If this game was simply named "Odyssey" nobody would've criticized this game so harsh. It was a great game. Not exactly a traditional AC game but I'm not complaining about it.
It’s actually an ac game cause all the assassins have(we’ve played) isu dna which the spear is isu and alexios wants to know more about the spear since the spear is a mystery to alexios’s family so yeah the assassins we’ve played have super powers beyond human comprehension because the assassins we’ve played has precursor dna or isu dna or first civilization dna
Hardcore AC fans hate it because it has nothing to do with AC. Others, like myself, hate it because of the ridiculous grind. The same side quest copy pasted 500 times and you have to do them in order to progress through the story. The stealth and combat are quite shitty as well. You stab a dude in the head while he's sleeping and he just wakes up ready to fight. Even the most basic enemies take forever to die. You spend like 5 minutes spamming attacks on just one guy waiting for him to finally die. Not fun at all if you ask me. The story, world, music however, are nothing short of amazing.

The story arch is good but long. If you liked odyssey you will like this as well. The pacing though, the first two acts of the game goes smoothly. Then there is a level gap(i played on nightmare mode) into the 3rd act which pacing wise wasnt that good. But once the story picks up again it does it justice. However it is more focused on the vikings, less on the assassins. But it has its place as an assassins creed game.

It is an assassins creed game it just does not involve the assassins directly it shows the order of the templars in one of their early forms in this as the Cult of Kosmos. Yes you are supposed to take them down almost like the assassin's since you realise their threat better then others but the brotherhood aint made yet just the people before them like origins showed us the Assassins Brotherhood origins this shows the templars origins unless they go even further back in time.

AC1: Emphasis on being an Assassin AC2: The “Taunt” button AC3: Brutal combat animations and Modern Day Missions AC4: Naval Combat ( I don’t like it, but other people do) ACUnity: Parkour ( but more smooth and improved) ACSyndicate: Interacting with environment for kills and distractions ACOrigins: Non annual release.

But we learn about the first blade which is seen also in origins, we learn about the connection between the cultists and the templars. There are manyyyy links. It’s just that Ancient Greece is so old it cannot fully connect to AC. The game is still top

I feel like "off the rails" is something the series needs. I played the original AC, and II, then Brotherhood, then gave AC a break until Black Flag and Syndicate, and I didn't play much Syndicate. But this looks like a fun combination of Black Flag and Origins, and I'm a sucker for Ancient Greece. This is the first AC in a long time I'm actually excited for. Still not paying out the rear for those special editions though, come on Ubisoft.

This trailer still gives me chills. I like to game, no I really love this game, but after I played AC 1 and 2 (before bought this as a next game I play from franchise) it doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed, but ofc graphical and mechanical jump from those to this was major leap, so I won't hold it against it. It is a wonderful, beautiful game nevertheless.

Well the point of it is that the Greek world is so old that the hidden ones were not founded yet. But we learn about the first blade which is seen also in origins, we learn about the connection between the cultists and the templars. There are manyyyy links. It’s just that Ancient Greece is so old it cannot fully connect to AC. The game is still top

I feel like "off the rails" is something the series needs. I played the original AC, and II, then Brotherhood, then gave AC a break until Black Flag and Syndicate, and I didn't play much Syndicate. But this looks like a fun combination of Black Flag and Origins, and I'm a sucker for Ancient Greece. This is the first AC in a long time I'm actually excited for.
Still not paying out the rear for those special editions though, come on Ubisoft.

This trailer still gives me chills. I like to game, no I really love this game, but after I played AC 1 and 2 (before bought this as a next game I play from franchise) it doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed, but ofc graphical and mechanical jump from those to this was major leap, so I won't hold it against it. It is a wonderful, beautiful game nevertheless.

I don't think it is the Battle of Thermopylae because during the E3 conference they confirmed that the game takes place during the Peloponessian War which took place 50 years after that.
