Get INTO it! Let's talk about how far back the "replacing" of Michael Jackson goes back.
Donny Osmond. Nice guy. It's not his fault. But they wanted to make sure the White fangirls were not fangirling Black boys.
Over 50 years later, they're STILL trying to find a replacement for Michael Jackson.
Spoiler warning: THERE IS NONE. Michael will ALWAYS be #1.

The latest attempt of this Donny Osmond legacy is Taylor Swift.
But Taylor Swift can go to a football game in peace.

  • @johnlucas1543

The Osmonds WERE first because the Osmonds were White.
They entered through the front door. They didn't HAVE to run through a Chitlin' Circuit to get on TV.
BUT the Osmonds didn't sound like they sounded UNTIL the Jackson 5 showed up.
The Osmonds could NEVER compare to the Jacksons & the legacies seen today prove that.
The fact that the Osmonds had to change their sound to match the Jackson 5 proves this point.
In the end the fact that the Black Jacksons had to do things the harder way to get the same regard is why their legacy is stronger than the Osmonds today. The King is Michael Jackson not Donny Osmond & it's like that for a reason.
The barriers the Jacksons broke down in society are immeasurable. People just don't know. Right ON!

Foster Sylvers Didn't Even Join The Sylvers Officially Until 1975.The Sylvers Hit The Scene In 1972 With Edmund,Leon,And Ricky Being The Lead Singers And Their Music Then Wasn't Bubblegum At That Time It Was Mature.

Actually, copying was just a trend in the music industry. The Jackson 5 were patterned after a siblings act from Chicago called the Five Stairsteps, who turned down a Mowtown contract shortly before Joe Jackson signed his sons with Mowtown and the J-5's "I want you back" was released in 1969. Afterwards, in 1970, the Five StairSteps recorded "OOh Child." Like Joe Jackson, the Stairsteps's Father was also their manager.
When it comes to The Osmonds, thieir musical style was altered to compete with the new sound.

If you check out the early episodes the five Stairsteps were contemporaries w the Jackson 5. They competed against them on the chitlin circuit. They (j5) talk about how much they wanted to beat them. So I’m not sure the j5 could have been patterned after 5S. The J5 were vocally patterned after the family stone. Susanne de Passé said she used them (family stone)as a fashion template too. ruclips.net/video/NjPQahDlXy0/видео.htmlsi=jFZtefte-Iy0HugH

@@TheThrillerEffect Yes the J-5 crossed paths with the Stairsteps, but by then, the stairsteps had already been recording and touring with Curtis Mafield and others for years. The Stairsteps, unlike the Jacksons, were actual accomplished musicians who played several instruments, but they lacked a team if writers and a huge promotion machine behind them.
Absolutely, the J-5 were a huge success because they had a lot of talent in their lead singer, who was the youngest of the group.
Joe Jackson had already shaped their style for years before they ever met Suzanne De Passe.
Regarding Suzanne De Passe's Sly & Family Stones story, she and Mowtown associates spread many falsehoods coupled with an ingenious promotion campaign for the J-5 during that rime. For instance, the Diana Ross discovering the J-5 story was not true, but it was brilliant.
Their published ages were false and so on. Bobby Taylor was completely left out of the picture, although their first album did well due to him. Since they told one lie, how many more did they need to tell to cover it up? Besides, as I'm sure you know, early on the J-5 did most of their gigs in Chicago, where the Stairsteps lived and performed in the early days. There was definitely some influence.
