  • Finally, iPhone users can access text messages, calls and notifications on a WINDOWS computer! Microsoft's new Phone Link software is rolling out in 2023 (replacing "Your Phone").
    It's not difficult to set up, but there are a bunch of little steps. This video walks you through the whole process in detail, including:
    - Hardware and software requirements and how to check them
    - How to pair your phone and computer
    - A quick look at the Phone Link software and its limitations
    Plus, a "recap" page at the end so you don't have to write everything down as you watch.

    Great tutorial. If I had seen it first, I would not have wasted an hour trying indistinct and misleading other guides. Thank you very much!!

      Agreed. It’s not the most efficient process, but it’s not HARD; you’re basically just clicking through until you get all the permissions set.

    Doesn't work for me. I keep getting a screen that says "unable to complete pairing". It says to remove both devices from each other and then turn off Bluetooth on both for 10-15 seconds, then turn Bluetooth back on and try again. I can't remove the phone from the PC. It keeps saying "remove failed".

    • @computersdotmom
      @computersdotmom  11 месяцев назад

      It is not the smoothest process or most reliable process, sadly. I would check the bluetooth settings on the phone as well, and see if the computer is there (delete it if so). Restart both the computer and the phone, and try again. Good luck!

    • @johnnasta
      @johnnasta 11 месяцев назад

      @@computersdotmom As it turns out, you have to have bluetooth turned on for both devices, then you have to go to your bluetooth settings on the PC and add the phone. Then do the Phone Link connection. If you go to your bluetooth settings on the phone first and add the PC, it will pop up a dialog on the PC and it will tell you that the devices are paired, but Phone Link won't recognize that connection.

      @@computersdotmom Yes it's working. The key is to let the PC find the phone, not the other way. I love being able to text from the PC while the phone is sitting in the charger. I'll have to look into what else it can do. Thanks.

    • @computersdotmom
      @computersdotmom  Год назад +1

      That is true UNTIL you get the update that includes the iPhone, as I explain at the beginning of the video. If you don't have it yet, keep doing Windows update and eventually you will. If you're in a rush, you can sign up with the Windows Developer program and get updates earlier--but that is riskier, fair warning, because you're more likely to encounter bugs.

      You may need to remove Phone link and reinstall Phone link in order to change the default to Android. Here's a video on how to do it. ruclips.net/video/zVZStIy-drE/видео.html

    It doesn't work. Plain and simple. The left hand part of the screen says phone connected and even show the battery percentage of my IPhone. There are no messages and on th right side of the screen is says "We weren't able to connect your mobile device" even though it is ovuously connected. They need to fix this junk or get rid of it. Dell had a product that was supposed to do the same thing. The discontinued it.

      Yes it works for RECENT versions of Windows 10. If you don’t see the option, you might need to update to a newer version of Windows 10. That should be free.

      Sorry for the slow reply. Yes it works with Windows 10 so long as you have at least the May 2019 update.
