I LOVE ITTTTT! The turbo noises all the time is beautiful! exactly what i was specting from a exhaust like that. now it sounds as it should be cant wait for the next video driving it finally, racecar sounds
Damn, love the exhaust sound. As Speed Racer said, “it sounds beefy Pop”. Definitely do all the oxygen sensors while they are out. Save the trouble now and figure out what sends a code afterwards. Funny thing, my turbo’ed Miata with an aftermarket market race cat will get a code when my wife drives it, she doesn’t get the car hot enough to get the cat to work. The Porsche is really coming together!
Way better sound bro. The fab speed sounded kinda idk ricey to me. It just didn’t sound like a normal exotic car. With this new exhaust the sound matches the car. Nice 👍🏼
I have the Fabspeed on my M96 engine and it sounds amazing. Must be a Metzger thing. Honestly though when I put the OEM cats back on it ruined the sound. So they might be fine if you straight pipe them. I’m going to DM you on IG to get more info on those 90 O2 adapters. The new exhaust sounds great! Love that turbo sound!
my 996TT also sounds like a vacuum cleaner and drones like hell with that same fabspeed exhaust. I believe its the MaxFlo, right? I wanna go to a catless xpipe
@@Cant_Frag I have a 3" catless xpipe setup on my 997.1 turbo. It also has resonators and helmholtz tubes to eliminate the drone. Without cats it will drone unless you have both resonators and helmholtz tubes
Hi Matt, the 996 now sounds as well as looks great! The stock tips look OK to me, but if you're not happy with them, how about some black oval tips? Having had a 997 Carrera 4s myself, I'm loving this Porsche content! 👍👍
Matt, this upload is just exhausting. It's really starting to come along and look really nice. I'm glad you got that junkie looking intake off it and the new exhaust on. Now, you just need some upgraded turbos, intercoolers, clutch, and a tune. Don't forget the passenger side window regulator and the rest of the interior. Then maybe later on when it's making 700-750whp, you can do an AWD delete and really have something a lot of fun and terrifying. But after all the grief, the boys have given you in the comments it's really starting to come together. Kudos, man, tons and tons of kudos, and congratulations.
I'm diggin this build....I just want to see you go full send and drop the motor and rebuild it...I dont know or remember if you said the actual miles on the car but I believe it's worth it....your already in to deep on it...might as well huh...love this build and your vids...keep up the great work...😊
Love your channel so much man. Appreciate all the effort you put into the shots. But I don’t think the overhead drone shots are adding anything. Could pretty much repurpose the same ones every time. And I know they are a pain in the ass to do. What would be so cool though is a go pro shot of the driver POV. Set it and forget it and let it run and use some footage from that. Would be awesome.
Everytime I watch one of these videos I think "that guy has to be from Pittsburgh with that accent" but apparently folks from Maryland sound the same?! Great videos - appreciate the gumption.
Yo that sounds pretty mean! So much better, and I am using tiny headphones that look like they are from 1992. LOL I going to have to put my good headphones on and give her a listen. They always sound better under load though.... Can't wait to hear that.
funnily enough, your not supposed to let the car warm up by staying stationary, as it says in the porsche manual, it was the same for my 986, due to it being a flat engine they recommened you warm it up by driving it straight away and keeping the revs below 3k rpm !
Agreed, or have the current wheels refinished in silver, not digging the Matt (..) black. And next on the list THOSE HEINOUS TAILS they hurt my eyes :(
@@matt13ross I know you already said it in the video, but please pull it forward on the to do list ;) Wing goes with the front bumper imho and I don't have a problem with either of them. Car doesn't have to be 100% OEM obviously, it's already come a long way from your starting point :)
Makes me so nervous because I just had a lot of work done to my 996 including a fabspeed exhaust with headers installed. I pick it up next week.....:yikes:
I picked up an '03 with a titanium muffler-less exhaust, though it seems to have street legal high flow cats and anti-drone tubes on it. The exhaust has its moments but out on the freeway the droning is just so so bad.
@@matt13ross why do you hate yourself? Knowing that engine, the exhaust is going to need to come off soon enough, putting it on dry is how everything seizes up. Just put a layer of copper antiseize on the slip joints and bolts. It’ll smoke a bit at first, but you’ll be able to take the thing apart.
Don't forget to mention the DP extensions, and/or running catless is for OFFROAD USE ONLY. You wouldn't want the EPA to come a knockin' & then hit all your cars with fines/tows/violations while they're there. It's one thing to defeat emissions systems, it's a BIG no-no to talk about it & share how-tos with others, especially if you make money off it. (Ask all those performance shops that got raided by the EPA)
Matt would you mind sharing some info on how the 180's are connected? How big of an opening between the two ? I'm building one now and wondering the shape and size of the opening between the two.
Not to be a ass but if you had race headers with a x pipe going to the fab speed silencers it would be a different sound. You have stock headers with prob cell 200 cats and a big silencer going to a straight pipe off stock headers
Ti has its place in aerospace. But, not Road car exhaust. When designing exhaust drone is #1, corrosion resistance is #2, and wall thickness (sound is #3). Weight savings will not be noticed unless you live at the track. Wall thickness makes it sound higher quality. Not saying the jerk that runs fabspeed or his Chinese products are great. But AWE and others made a far superior product in every meaningful way. Ti is for F1 and motoGP. That said, if you like it - that’s awesome!!!
I'm trying this one out for fun. It's a budget system and thought it would make a good RUclips video or two. It does sound great. AWE doesn't make exhausts for these anymore. I had AWE on my 6.2 Silverado and LOVED it!
Sounds good! Personally, I think the stock exhaust tips filled the bumper in better than what you have at the moment.
If it's behind the bumper....who cares? No one sees it.
He’s not done. He’s going to get tips. No one would just leave it that way.
@@stellanti I'd like to think so. That looks garbage as it is!
Not done, still need to decide on tips.
@@matt13ross What about the 'normal' OEM 996 TT/GT2 tips, they are oval but follow the outline of the hole in the bumper.
The titanium exhaust sounds good! Love that you can hear those turbos! Now you need to get some decent exhaust tips :)
That's the plan!
Next Video: Tail Light Tint Removal and mad skids with the E36! Keep up the great work!
Sounds amazing! I would definitely recommend getting some oval tips since i also dislike the "fake" double look tips.
Thanks!
So kind, thank you again!!
I’m dying to know what is wrong with that window. Another good video and more progress sounds great 👍👍👍
Next video!
Matt, your tenacity is something but wow are you making progress with the Turbo!!!! Congratulations for sure!!!

Theres no real better option to factory X50 tips. Just get them polished up nicely and they will look the part
Matt, try Acetone/ATF 50/50 mix for seized, rusted bolts. It works wonders and its cheap!
The titanium exhaust sounds awesome.
I've heard of that tip before, but haven't tried it yet!
I vote black oem oval tips! Keep it simple and clean

I had no hope for this vehicle. To see it like this now is fantastic.
Love your videos especially the Porsche ones. Exhaust sounds awesome. Turbo noise sounds good.
Massive sound improvement plus saved weight and probs picked up at least 20hp. Win win win

Should reset ecu after fitting new exhaust so ecu can re learn long and short term fuel trims. 👍🏻 disconnect battery 10 mins is an easy way.
You are one happy boy! Great job getting to this stage.
Great job man, awesome exhaust. Make sure you install the o2 sensors before you take it out on the road, will mess up the fueling.
The post cat O2 sensors don’t affect fueling.

Full engine rebuild requires special tooling for the timing which isn't cheap. To have a shop do the work it's probably going to be $20k for the cost.

That turbo noise is the sickness!!!!!
Curious if you considered a Fister exhaust for the car. Really enjoyed the bypass with mine. New subscriber here 👋🏻
You should use Liquid Wrench or some other penetrating oil. WD-40 is water dispersing. Not the right stuff for rusty hardware.
