I remember visiting there in the old steam days, it was a major depot (82A) back then. We had a shed permit and were escorted round by a very friendly railwayman. He took us up into the cab of 7018 Drysllwyn Castle ( a favourite to haul 'The Bristolian' at that time), it was lying out of service alongside the shed.

I remember seeing one of the old Class 28's there as a TDB loco, sitting inside in a corner under a tarp. Used to be a good place for spotting.

Ahh happy days! I was working on the PW based at Stapleton Road around this time. Used to get into BR about once a month after oiling the points at Narrow ways JNC! Good times 😊

Class 70 - surely not? Do you mean D70xx Hymeks? They were Class 35 (although never carried TOPS numbers).

So much money wasted on HS2 which could be used to either improve rail services or even restore services that were cut by Lord Beeching. So much can be done on our railways.

Cut by the Tories you mean. Anyway HS2 costs are spiralling due to the current Tories chopping and changing the original plans. These plans btw would have allowed old lines to reopen. Before bashing HS2 it might be worth looking at the original plans .....and then wonder WFT the Tories are doing.

For me, large logo blue was the best livery, especially on a hoover.

Yeah, looks great on everything. Large logo on a 37 is my personal favourite.

A lot of Salisbury gricers tripped up there back in the 80s, stopping off at Westbury if they had extra cash for a ticket.

This is filmed after the class 33s stopped working through Bristol but before the class 50s were taken out of service, that leaves quite a narrow timeframe, sometime around 1989/90 would be my guess.

      Correct. It was 89

I miss it as a rail enthusiast but not sure what purpose it could serve today. As soon as most loco-hauled and parcels services disappeared in the area there was no need for it any more. Everything I've read about Bath Road talks about it being a cramped, old fashioned, awkwardly shaped site with limited road access, guessing that ruled out repurposing it as a DMU depot.
