Hi Marty, can u please do one on creating illustrations using photos. Maybe they are supposed to be easy, but would really like to learn. Find your videos very easy to follow. Thank you
I've done many on the subject. ruclips.net/user/bluelightningtvsearch?query=painting ruclips.net/user/bluelightningtvsearch?query=illustration ruclips.net/user/bluelightningtvsearch?query=photo
Hi, Marty - Great job as always. One question: after you duplicate the smart object, you turn off the paint daubs filter on the new smart object layer to work on Image/Adj/Shadows/Highlights. In the video, I don't see you turn the paint daubs back on after making the adjustments. Was this intentional? I've tried both with and without paint daubs shown. "With" seems to deliver a grainier result; 'without' gives better contrast across the portrait.
Thanks for the info. I typed it into my Browser to check it out and my malware software warned against downloading it because it has a history of containing a Trojan virus. There may not be any problem with G'MIC, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thanks Marty for your input, there is no problem with G'MIC, but I'll report your experience about the warning you got, on their discussion list, and see what they can do. Have a great day (BTW in your tutos, your voice is very relaxing, listening your tutos is a moment of peace)
Sorry it didn't work. Try making a new layer above all the visible layers in the Layers panel. Then press Command + Shift + Option + E. That is the default shortcut to merge a copy of all visible layers into target layer.
mARTY could you make more text based photoshop works, plzplzplzplz i find those more stunning and easier to make plzplzplzplz btw I made most of all your text stuff
There's one thing I didn't follow. Can you please elucidate? At the very beginning when you do the crop, you set the height to 870 pixels. You then proceed to adjust the height even further with the crop tool. Why did you bother initially setting the height at all then? On a related note, should I assume I should set the size of my subject's head in the photo to roughly the same dimensions as you use to get results similar to you? Thanks!
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thanks. You finished images look spot on when compared to the WSJ. The image I chose from my portfolio left room for improvement. I think the starting image plays a role. Yours was more contrasty that what I started with. Carry on!
It is an amazing video. I do further executions for my projects. But if i want to apply this on a white cat picture, which settings do I change. When I change levels, it gets very messy Thank you 🙏

Yes, it was intentional to turn off Paint Daubs in the copy, since I didn't want that effect duplicated. Personal choice.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thanks for the quick reply; I think I agree.
Nice tutorial.
Do you know that you can do this effect in just 2 clicks with the free plugin G'MIC for Photoshop ( Black & White/Dithering ) ?

I got stuff at "Opt + Command + Shift +E' for Mac, which doesn't seem to exist. Not sure why, but this ended for me at that point.

Hello, tell me how to make such a sketch with dots in Photoshop and find out their number?
Sorry, I don't understand what "find out their number" is.
Another great tutorial. Thanks, Marty!

After you crop your image, go to Image and Image Size. You'll see that the height is 870 px.

Can only be done in PC ?? What’s the app name ?? my laptop got stolen
Yes, it can be done on a PC. FYI: All my videos are done on a Windows PC. The app is Photoshop.

Stippling effect only works well on non-textured surfaces due to the tiny size of the stipples.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thank you
I used PS6. This project it Ok?
I honestly don't know, since I haven't used PS6 for many years.
