    • @johnchedsey1306
      @johnchedsey1306 8 месяцев назад +8

      @@TheForbidden_1ne If I recall, Wilson had a no-trade clause in his Seattle contract. Part of why Seattle was ready to move on is that they didn't want to be on the hook for yet another huge extension. Wilson's agent is ruthless and gets top dollar. Thus, there never would have been a trade to Denver without the agreement to extend his contract ASAP. So they made the trade knowing they were also extending him.
      Wilson has won at the business game of the NFL and I have zero sympathy for billionaires having to honor a contract they presented to one of their employees.

      Agreed. And he was coming off a couple of not so good years with the Hawks. He wasn't terrible. But he hadn't really looked like the old Russell Wilson in a year or two. • @wesleybigham2740
      @wesleybigham2740 8 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed. I think the reason they signed him to an extension when they did is because Herbert and Lamar Jackson were negotiating extensions and after Deshawn Watson hit all of that guaranteed money they were afraid that Herbert and Jackson would reset the market and they’d have to pay him more after he performed well. Turns out that was a very bad idea.

But that pass he made to Butler it's like two parallel universes could've split there. If he won he's got 2 in 2 years and propels forward a dynasty up to now. His skill set has the same limitations it always has the difference was Pete Carroll/offensive co ordinator adjusted to accommodate it. Saw him live the whole middle of the field got no action he can’t see it that’s why he holds on to the ball, scrambles and conducts his backyard plays

    Also for those saying Russ isn’t a hall of famer anymore, when he was in his prime the NFC West was one of the most competitive divisions, his top receivers were Tyler Lockett, Doug Baldwin, and jimmy graham. All of which would be number 2 maybe number 3 receivers on other teams. Brady played a bunch of guys in the east for years, rogers had the bears and the lions 4 times a year for years, mahomes has virtually no competition in the west. Franchise QBs are a rare and premium commodity, and when you believe you have one, you keep them. @tyronegrant3422 I don't know, he had a lot of success for a lot of years and helped coach up a lot of stars and future Hall of Famers. Payton didn't inherit a winning franchise in New Orleans or in Denver but managed to get one of them to the mountain top (so far). I'm a Chiefs fan, so I really don't care how this works out for Denver or for Russ. But even as a fan of another team, I know that if Seattle and Denver could have won with this version of Russ, they would have won with this version of Russ. 🤷 Whatever market value Russell Wilson has right now, is because of what Payton was able to get out of him. Because his first year after being moved by the team that drafted him lowered his stock considerably. Imagining what Russ can be for someone else is not reality, that is a guess at best. The reality is that the team that wanted him to be great the most (Seattle) didn't want him in the building, and the team that had hope that he would bounce back (Denver) now doesn't want him in the building. Those are real things that happened. Reality.

Alex Smith could’ve done the same thing with that team. And Russ even cost them the 2nd Super Bowl with a pass that was behind the receiver and the CB could jump it. He may have been good to the community but he was an awful teammate, so many similar stories of players saying they’d try to get ahold of him and they’d have to basically make an appointment with his receptionist to talk to him and couldn’t have his phone #.. then he shows up in Denver with his own office on 2nd floor not even in the locker room with the guys, has his own parking spot, own team with access to everything the players do. Dude just thought he was better than everyone else cause he married a celebrity and got that status and big pay day. Sure he put up numbers when they had Penny and no namers at RB but they never went anywheres in the playoffs and were never seen as a real threat to anyone. Idk what team would take him now if he wants to start, Denver had the best roster of any team that is looking for a QB right now that doesn’t plan on drafting one. As a lifelong Seattle fan and a dedicated "Russell Wilson is an absolute goober" Club member, my take from all this is that... I was delighted by Denver sucking and being horribly mismanaged in the Nathaniel Hackett era. It felt like watching someone get a Lamborghini and then try to do donuts and spin it into the ditch. Then when Sean Payton came in... it felt like someone who hated Lamborghinis and ONLY wanted a Ferrari, so he maliciously drove missed gears and tried to show what a terrible car this Lambo is by taking it off-roading and doing tractor pulls with it. Then he says "see? Lamborghinis are terrible cars. I need a Ferrari!"
    It's a shame to see, because as much as I loved what Seattle got from the trade, it's a shame to watch someone be so horribly mishandled. I'd honestly take him back in a heartbeat and have him start next hear for the 'Hawks. If he played at league minimum and stuck Denver with the tab... god. I would never stop laughing.

    I don’t believe that any team will be rushing to sign Russel Wilson based on his horrible performance in Denver. He took all that money and didn’t even look like he was trying. I would be seriously concerned by his complete lack of effort in Denver.

    Rus will try to suck up as much of the teams cap as possible under the disguise of pushing the market for the next guy. If I were the GM of the hawks I’d had Rus out the door a year earlier to Miami and 3 1st round picks. Turn the tape on his route anticipation is awful

    To me Russ's last 3 years tell me he needs high quality WRs. My stock for Lockett and Metcalf went way up the first year Russ was in Denver when they helped elevate Geno and Russ's performance went over a cliff without them. So if I'm a team looking at WIlson, the first question I'm asking is how my WRs stack up to Lockett and Metcalf.

      It does for certain type of demographic that is held to a different standard on top of him having such a polarizing personality. These ppl never liked Russ. They were always ready to try to write him out the HOF if he had a bad season. 2022 a year he was injured with an incompetent head coach and depleted Oline and RB room is all they needed. Now that he played better in 2023, the damage was done as they pretended he wasn't good all year long despite it being obvious the defense was real reason they started 1-5.

    What happened with Russ was all the broncos doing. Terrible coach his first year, he would have probably done better without a coach. Then his second year he has a coach who wants him gone the whole time. After they told him they wanted him to give up his injury guarantee he probably just shut down. They did him dirty. I hope the broncos suck for the next 5 years, Payton gets fired with 4-13 seasons, and Russ finds somewhere to show them up. The dude works harder than anyone, is so inspirational with what he does for the community. The broncos did the Walter Payton MOY dirty. I've hated the broncos since the days when we had Largent and the Boz. Still do. GO HAWKS!

    The comprehensive story about RW in Denver -- the one that comes after all the dust has long settled and temperatures approach normal -- is the one I'm looking forward to. When my Broncos (I've followed them since a boy in '65, and have watched a lot of football since) swung that trade, I thought it a fantastic move. I was WAY off. Light-years. Couldn't have been more wrong. I want to know what happened, as close to truth as possible.

      They had two terrible coaches. Doesn't matter how talented a team is, with poor leadership it will always end in disaster. It wasn't Russ, it was the coaches and head office. They have terrible and inept leadership

      IMO inflated expectations in a world where everyone thinks a great player is like a machine you just plug in and forget the rest is just not working. He had 2 years with 2 different coaches and systems and was coming back from an injury. He was getting better and one more season would have proven he was the right choice but that was not the expectation sold to the world. As a Raiders fan, I can see where organizations are to blame and not only the players...and I hope Raiders pick him up!

    I still think Walker is the worst trade in NFL history with Wilson in second because of what Dallas got. With one of those draft picks Dallas ended up getting Emmitt Smith. Seattle hasn't gotten anywhere near that kind of player that we know of right now anyway

    The only reason they traded so much for him was to boost bidding before the sale of the team. They knew he wasnt worth it which is why they extended his contract before a down was played. That way they could say they have a franchise quarterback to drive the price up.

    A lot of people said that Sean Payton could fix him and he did to an extent but made Russ Mr. Limited in that offense. Russ has changed his game a bit but can he still do it by the way he plays? It'll be interesting to see. As a Broncos fan I was nervous as much as excited about thst trade, and now whomp! Plus the extension wtf that was stupid

      I think Payton didn't like Russ and called a bunch of plays that weren't how to use him just to see him fail. He needed a scape goat. Can't wait til they suck again next year and he tries to blame someone else again
