      Payton is a great offensive coach, if you've watched the Saints over the years, there's was great play calling going on, but like any coach, they still need the right players for their offense. He may be a guy that does well with only the players that he selects. Payton's a guy that could do well with someone like Brock Purdy, Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, players that execute the play as designed, someone the opposite of Russ who was at his best improvising.

    The Broncos essentially handed Russ the team when he was traded. Instead of being treated like a player, he was sensationalized and given so much further than a welcoming gift. It was doomed from the start. They gutted their franchise of its future, a few nice pieces on their roster, and hired a coordinator to be their head coach who had no experience outside being Aaron Rodgers’ buddy. Then they brought in the Doc Rivers of the NFL, Sean Payton and you saw how he treated his QB.

    I cant wait to see when Payton falls flat. Think about it this way: if you were a top tier QB (where are they?) would you want to play with a coach who throws you under the bus, berates a 34 year old QB in front of the team & HOME fans, asks you to take a pay cut, waive an injury clause in your contract and then blames you for all the offensive shortcomings ALL IN ONE SEASON? Football karma will come back to him in BIG way. The one thing you have to give Wilson is he takes care of the ball (8 ints last season). He got Sutton a career year in TDS. I will love how to see the "offensive guru" that is Payton fixes this terrible offense. What QB in their right mind would play with him?

    Broncos fan here. I watched every down of Russel Wilson's play over the last two seasons.
    They got it right at the end. What it comes down to is that Wilson can't run the offense that Payton wants to run with any type of consistency.
    Do Wilson and Payton just not like one another? Possibly.
    But this comes down to on field performance and Payton wanting another QB.
    And, yeah, I would bet that Payton made it clear to Greg Penner during his interviews for the job that this may very well be the eventuality.

    I don’t think it’s fair to say Russ was EVERYTHING ex players of the Seahawks were saying. They were (and still are) salty about the Super Bowl loss to NE. Russ’ only downside is he’s too positive. Let’s bffr. The truth is Sean Payton is a smart coach, who was carried by an all time great in Drew Brees. He’s had mild success in the years since the Super Bowl.

    Sean Payton is the new Mike Shanahan. Drew Brees carried him to success like Elway did for Shanahan. The Broncos are to Sean, what the Redskins were to Mike. And we know what organizational failure that tenure was in Washington. Russ carried a 1-5 Broncos team to 7-6 and in playoff contention. Sean Payton failed Denver, not Russ.

    It is someone's fault in Denver: John Elway. Nobody (but Denver Broncos Mile High View) calls him out. He traded for Wilson, and him and the trust signed him to that crazy contract. And, this new ownership won't get rid of him and his awful front office (and his nephew).

      @@jab1289 he wasn't the GM then, as he even said he was a consultant not in charge of the new Front Office.
      If you were a Broncos fan you would know who to really blame, the Bowlen family who disrespected Pat after his death by destroying what was in 2015 the best winning percentage in sports.

    • @Pickn4Gold
      @Pickn4Gold 2 месяца назад

      @@jab1289 that was his title when Russ was traded for in March 2022. Elway stepped down for Paton to become GM, and as Elway and Paton both said themselves Elway was an outside consultant in February 2022 when the team was put up for sale. They were trying to sell the team and got a QB with a ring to make it sell for a higher amount, also had to get rid of Elways presence since new owners would likely not want John around making decisions after he didn't really do a good job after 2015.
      Very easy to look this all up, why don't you next time? And btw, blame Pat Bowlens family. Pat built one of the winningest franchises in sports, and his family destroyed it in less than 3 years after he died because they hated each other. Without Pat we don't have Sunday Night Football or certain rules regarding reply, he was also one of the first owners to hire specific trainers and chefs for the team facilities to help the players off the field become better on the field. Pat was great for the team and the league, and we can only hope with his family fighting gone they can be a better team going forward.

    Denver can’t stick with Russell. Mobile QB’s don’t age well. If Denver stuck with Russ for another three years they would have gotten ridiculed for sticking with Russ too long. Russ played decent last year but the Broncos only won one game last year when the defense didn’t force more than two turnovers. If you’re a $250 million QB you shouldn’t have to depend on the defense bailing you out by creating turnovers to win games. QBs making $40 million a season should be able to win games on their own. Russ was never that guy that could ride him the entire season even back when he was in Seattle, he needed a good defense and running game. Denver should have known better to pay him like a franchise QB, mobile QBs go downhill fast in their 30’s.
