No Matt actually has one of the highest vocal ranges in modern rock music. And the band does have energy live they won the award for best live band in 2012.
I love this song, they should bring it back. Zack and Syn have had vocal training and the backup vocals would sound better and make sense within the song. I especially like the bass line at the end of the song; I think they should make an entire song based on the bass... it sounds awesome and I think we don't hear enough of Johnny at all through the other albums.
Guys do you know how hard this song to sing on live? And you keep asking why they dont play. Just try to sing this song from start to finish and you will understand
They sounded so rough live back in 2006... but that's when they were playing the best setlists. Go figure haha I'd kill to see some of their 2006 setlists played live now, or on the last tour with The Rev. They really focused on their live sound during the self-titled tour and started performing much better.
I think their CIty of Evil sound was the best and the album sound was perfect; unfortunately such sound-rich and hard-to-play-live songs didnt sound so perfect live...They moved towards less intense songs, culminating in Hail to the King piece-of-cake to play songs and they sound great live :) Cant have both unfortunately haha
Pedja PI Yeah, it's kind of a shame. They got a little too ahead of themselves on "City of Evil" when they were writing it. The album is flawless, and their most interesting work to date, but the live shows weren't. However, they've done M.I.A. and Burn It Down over the last few years, and they both sounded tight (minus the absence of The Rev's high harmonies in both songs). I'd love to see them start doing those songs again, but they're too into "big arena" mode where they want to play big, slow riffs... which is getting a little boring. Self-titled was the downfall.
And I don't understand why people are so pissed that the bass is up. I love the thick distorted tones from the bass! I mean, they didn't just add a bassist cus every one else is doing it; the bass brings a new element with the low that should be heard more often in hard rock!
cauz the song got dual guitars and a rythmic section wich is very important on the record.indeed without the dual guitar on the riff and on the bridges sounds bad and without rythmic section the song sound empty as fck like on this live, bud they got only 2 guitarists and blinded in chains need 3 or it's sounds like shit unfortunatly. i think they understood that :)
No rev on backup vocals.. brooks may still pull off the drums.. but no rev!! That's the reason they don't play much city of evil songs i guess.. bcoz they didn't hv his vocal recordings of that album
@@Winfieldwoundedeye basically yes because I played it as a kid and didn't understand a word in English back then. However recently I came across it again. So I'm a fan of Avenged Sevenfold only the last few months

I can't blame this crowd. If I went to see A7X. then i would concentrate on seeing them. my eyes would be transfixed on them. and btw, the revs stick spin is so epic. RIP REV
There are so many songs they should play live... Blinded In Chains is the best song and we got only 2 live perfomances recorded, and with a bad quality. That's not about Arin, cuz he can perfectly play Beast and The Harlot, Burn It Down and other crazy fast songs live. I know every single song from A7X and I love all of them, not only Afterlife, Nightmare, So Far Away, fantastic songs, but songs that they play EVERY SINGLE show, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
+Trevor Boyd God damn it man...I searched a lot for The Wicked End live, but I didn't find a single performance. It really sucks because it's my favorite song, and they've never played it live (as far as I know)!

I swear to god Sanders doesn't get nearly enough credit as a hard rock vocalist. He is the absolute best I have ever heard. For one thing, his vocal tone is so technical and a bit crunchy (?) like a guitar, while still maintaining a great vibrato. And then there's his range.... it's just ridiculously fantastic how high his voice can go, while still singing those low notes. Yes, he is, in my personal opinion, indeed the best hard rock vocalist around right now! (and before I get butthurt about Corey Taylor, he is a close follow-up, but is lacking in tone compared to M Shadows. Taylor's screams are, again in my opinion, far superior though).
I disagree- I think he can have a great sound live- very much like the record, and a unique sound to himself, but his actual range and control is limited- he isn’t coming off clean or confident when not in his sweet zone- he can barely control those low tones in this video. I think he has improved a lot since then, but his range, while less common that he has such grit at the pitches he does, is quite limited. Still a huge fan - and the First 2 albums when Shadows screams- he was a beast- I consider those early vocals very dynamic.
Don't get me wrong, A7X is num1 for me. The band that brought me into metal. I always defend then when elitist attacks them🤣 BUT. His vocal isnt that great. He was amazing with gutural back at first two album with low and high growl and reaching high notes with rasp (second heartbeat reference) but then vocal injury happens His low notes live kinda nasally, he cant reach high notes in seize the day, he lose that low gutural. For me he isnt the best vocalist. But they will always be my favorite no matter what
