      In some jurisdictions that might be the case. Offhand I cant recall which one/s and the exact laws regarding it. Likely it was a USA state from memory. Bit rusty on that especially ones that don't directly affect myself. When was entering general online competitions would read thoroughly the T&C's and occassionally come across articles regarding this.

      @@josephlanigan4160 I've been playing pubs with my kids since Season 1, Chapter 6. We adore the game. Although my kids have moved on, I've continued playing and even found a partner to play with daily. Over the past year, the frequency of encountering cheaters has escalated from once every 30 or 40 games to one or two-sometimes even more-in each game. I anticipated an influx of rage hackers as zero builds gained popularity and the interest in COD and Apex waned, but the current situation is overwhelming.

  • @Zarraxus
    @Zarraxus Месяц назад +24

    I have actually talked to cheaters before (mainly back in CSGO) and they are possibly the worst humans in existence. They are all almost entirely rich kids who were bullied and unloved by their parents but have massive trust funds. They do not want to work they laugh about that if you ask them and the only joy they have in life is getting revenge against people who didnt like them by cheating in a video game because they have absolutely nobody in real life. Its incredibly sad that these kids have basically no sense of right or wrong because of their worthless parents who just throw money at them and tell them to f off. They can actually do this forever with zero repercussions because from my experience they have millions of daddy's money to fall back on. Also their parents do not give a shit about the child because what kind of stupid parent gives their kid thousands of dollars and refuses to discipline them. I believe the only way to stop people who are this far gone is to brand them as criminals and force them to stop or face criminal charges. The case for this is easy epic has their tax information when they sign up to play these tourneys and all it would take to stop these guys is to ruin the lives of 10 cheaters. They will be scared to death and that will stop the majority of cheating just on the fear of criminal charges.

Why this cup? I reckon no region lock has concentrated the hackers. Argh as typing 5:30 highlighted that as a reason. As it's so infested IMO most appropriate solution scrap the whole cup. Epic must be aware of the situation @piratesoftware advice would be probably they're aware and monitoring the situation to perform mass bans simultaneously, which makes it harder for hacking software to adapt easily etc.

    Anyone who says cheaters aren’t in public lobbies are blind. It’s not 80% like in a cup, but cheaters spend good money for their cheats and clearly like to use them, or warm up, or fine tune their cheat settings, whatever, and that’s done in pubs. Very well put together video! Sadly the best solution is to remove all tournaments with prize pools in zero build until epic games find a legitimate solution to hackers. I also think adding an entry fee is not a bad idea, this idea of making tournaments more accessible to the public is bullshit that brings no competitive integrity. For competitive integrity, there has to be competitive exclusivity.

      Not convinced regarding an entry fee however maybe increasing the entry account level requirements so at least say one season old account to help limit the amount of hacking. Gee to give myself chance if was interested in playing, I'd make it account level 6000+🤣. Also regarding an entry fee as some regions are ecomonically disadvantaged eg Brasil (especially if not region locked). Likely there are legal reasons in various regions/countries regarding competitions might prohibit it or major complictations. IMO being "competitive exclusive" more likely to kill off legitimate new entrants and ultimately a slow death for competitive. Matter finding the balance for the appropriate hurdles.

    • @mjohnstone2399
      @mjohnstone2399 Месяц назад +1

      @@supbro6505 Agree as they've likely already invested money to purchase the hacks. IMO increasing the account level requirements would be first suggestion. Atm I think level 15 is the requirement which doesn't take long maybe at least one season. i.e. level 200+ and active for 100 days. It's not going to eliminate however slow them down and hopefully significantly reduce the total number of hackers.(probably to resurface every second season argh)

    Apex is having the same issue with ranked. The data isn't official, but there are metrics showing that thousands of top ranked accounts were banned just last season. Cheating has become so rampant that online resellers are literally boasting MILLIONS in revenue, and most of the common cheats are only like 5-10 bucks. We're talking about hundreds of thousands of cheaters PER cheat reseller. That's also not accounting for the free cheats, the self made cheats, things like xim/cronus, or even the more expensive cheats like DMA or the newer AI tech coming out.

    Cheaters spend more money on skins etc than free to play players. Imagine going to the board of a company and asking for a $5 million budget, and the result is a 10-15% cut in player numbers and a 20% drop in revenues. I completely agree that Epic should spend what it takes to make the best product possible, but logically there is likely pushback inside Epic towards investing what it takes to really curb cheating.

    • @MFBuddy_YT

    I’ve played bronze ranked zero build tournaments for one reason, just to see if I could deliver a tournament elimination. In doing so I have witnessed half a dozen cheating events without even trying to see it. This is bronze ranked zero build, the absolute lowest level of competition in the game. I’m left wondering why because there is basically nothing to win at that level.

    oh ammbrat Typical Gamer was checking them out. They were also in the ZB duo cup. Lets hope epic brings down the permanent ban hammer on these players. Acknowlegde the frustration thou generally hacking is handled using blanket bans once the investigations are finished. That way the hacking software is less able to adapt as banning masses of players at once instead of tipping off their community.

  • @LocalMortalDestroyer
    @LocalMortalDestroyer Месяц назад +5

    As a new player who wants to play comp and tournaments, this is very discouraging. The hacking situation is getting worse and worse, and they are starting to become more prevalent in ranked and even pubs.
    I doubt epic will do anything about this, imo they care a lot more about builds comp since that is what Fortnite is known for, I just wished they put in the same amount of care they have for build comp for zero build comp (I know build comp does get screwed at times too but epic will listen to build comp players way more than zero build comp players imo.)
    The only way that epic might fix the hacking situation is when it’s gets to the levels of hacking that is plaguing Apex and CoD (and even then I have my doubts.) or the hacking starts to affect their income.
    Do better epic, you have the money to do so, just hire a few people to watch tournament replays and update your anti-cheat. I hope they fix the hacking issue soon, the whole situation is ridiculous 😔

We play tournaments and placed a personal best of 72nd place on the last tourney. We were very proud of that.. but it should’ve been way better placement as like the top 20 teams were very obviously cheating with an average of 40-50 kills a game. It sucks for the pure players

The last survival guy also knew this, and he took his medkits out and ran into a cliff and died. The flight guy did it twice same day. I reported him and they told me he was banned. I'm not sure how they deal with it long term, but they don't acknowledge it is a big problem. Relying on bystander to report hackers is not a solution.

    I do not understand why they refuse to put the measures in place to get rid of the cheaters. It’s 100% a lie that they “can’t detect it” The truth is that they don’t want to do it for some reason or another. My strong suspicion is that the code bunnies who work for easy anti cheat are probably the same people who are writing the scripts for the dma. It would only take epic making an example of 1 or 2 people and the others would cease to exist at least in the sense of selling them.

      A dma is very, very hard to detect unless a very intrusive and invasive anticheat is used. Look at valorant for example, their anti cheat is very, very good at finding and removing cheaters. However it is extremely invasive and runs above the kernel level. The video game cheating business, specifically with dma cards, is pretty much operated under a small amount of groups and distributed under different names, creators, methods, etc.

  • @br0knheart
    @br0knheart Месяц назад +1

    The cheating problem has seemingly grown beyond Epic's control. They either can't keep up with it, due to lack of staff and sheer incompetence, OR they just don't care. Even waiting until after the tournament and banning any cheaters, that still doesn't fix the problem. The best player/team in the lobby may have been the first to encounter the cheats, and therefor died off spawn, so moving up 1 spot does not help them, since having not fought cheaters at all would have resulted in them making it to endgame. Hackers need to be detected and banned immediately in order to repair the state of ZB competitive.
