    something I've found thats helped immensely with the "Energy Kickback" of high KE weapons, is adding a little "foot" to the bottom of your weapon upright/forks etc. especially with the foam wheels when you hit the force pushing back on your bot compresses the foam, causing the little feet to make contact with the ground, providing your bot with a more ridged structure/base and allowing it to deliver more of the kinetic energy into your opponent.

    • @TeamVector441
      @TeamVector441  Месяц назад

      Yeah I thought that too! The newest version of Vector has feet on the front that are about 1mm off the floor to try and negate kickback :)

    A lot of 4wd vertical spinners have part of their uprights right below the weapon stick down to barely ride above the floor. When their weapon hits the wheels deflect a little and all of the force is sent directly through the frame rails into the ground, not through your wheels.
    Take a look at the Peter bar kit frame and you’ll see what I mean.

    • @TeamVector441
      @TeamVector441  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I know exactly what you mean! Believe it or not the first version of vector actually had it just like that lol. And it worked great but after redesigning him a few thousand times I simply forgot to add it in on the previous version😅
      But good news is that the new version you see here has those sliders that glide along the floor! Hopefully they help with the energy transfer better!

    Foam wheels are goated especially with a layer of rubber cement and liquid latex, though i do wonder why you are sticking with aluminum uprights as opposed to uhmw. The built in weapon shaft solution is pretty neat

    • @TeamVector441
      @TeamVector441  2 месяца назад

      Yeah I was even given a pair of wheels by team malice that have that latex silicone covered wheel and they are grippy. I may try something like that with vector if I have time before the next tournament.
      And I thought about UHMW a while ago, but after a few tests soon realized at this weight class it needs to be a lot thicker to be tough. And I just don't have enough weight on vector do try it out. But I am experimenting with different materials though! And thank you!

    I've been designing an ant weight and have been looking at some of vectors designs for reference. I was wondering roughly how much the robot costs. If you don't really know that's fine too!

    • @TeamVector441
      @TeamVector441  7 часов назад

      That depends! Especially on were specifically you have your parts made weather it be CNC'd or something along those lines. Vectors aluminum frame(Which I hope to switch to UHMW to help with costs) with all included plates and mounts costs around 300-400 by itself, and the Tie main weapon $250+ so its not exactly cheap. But I offset it with sponsors and such. I would actually recommend PCBWay for that as well especially if your looking to CNC parts, they offer insanely competitive pricing as long as the part isn't too complicated.
      But if your looking to make a bot similar to Vector I would take cost into consideration! And I would be interested to see how it turns out, let me know how it goes!

  • @larsteampainfullyobvious3625
    @larsteampainfullyobvious3625 2 месяца назад +1

    very cool video but honestly i wouldn't run alu rails for a ant weight 1/4" uhmw is ligher and does not really bend at all and you could add kinda feet to the front of the rails to contact the ground when the weapon transfers energy and that would allow you to move the wheels back so you actually have reach and wont get eaten as bad

    • @TeamVector441
      @TeamVector441  2 месяца назад

      Yeah I tried UHMW rails but they didn't work for me, but perhaps I may need to revisit it! And I added some feet in the front aluminum to try and negate that, hopefully they work.
