From episode #54 ' Welcome Summertime / Un-Birthday' , filmed on
June 25th, 1984.
Chuck E. plays a guessing game with the in studio audience of kids related to favorite video games of the day, and is then invited by Rapid to play a few rounds of 'Donkey Kong' via a Commodore VIC-20.
I miss Rapid T Rabbit and his show. So many amazing moments such as this. I remember watching this and thinking how cool it must've been for the lucky kids to hang out with two mascots
He had a lot of cool guests on his show over the many years it was broadcast. I feel privileged in being able to say that i was able to help bring to life four of his many guests a few years ago.
What did you do
If You’re Wondering, Chuck E. Is Playing The Commodore VIC-20 Version Of Donkey Kong. (Commodore Was Also A Big Name In The Computer Industry!)
Thank you! Yes, I have been trying to figure out which system he is playing as I don't recognize those particular graphics.
I was guessing it might be a ColecoVision, Intellivision, or Odyssey system...but a VIC-20 !
Very cool. Richard was a huge Commodore fan so I should have realized he probably had one back at that time.
Leo Lion You’re Welcome!
P.s. - your avatar photo is a drawing of Chuck E. I did many years ago.
Didn't know if you knew that or not...
Nice to see folks still enjoying my work!
:)
Leo Lion No Problem! And Of Course I Knew
@@CircusShowplace The VIC-20 was widely regarded as being the first affordable computer when first introduced in 1981; it even had a TV spot featuring Star Trek's William Shatner! But the VIC-20 was soon overshadowed by a newer and more advanced Commodore computer: the Commodore 64, released on July 20, 1982.

By 1984, the whole of Atari had been shook by the '83 video game crash, which also affected Bushnell's Chuck E. Cheese's profits, that he sold CEC (full name: Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre) to ShowBiz Pizza Place; the result was a new holding company, ShowBiz Pizza Time, Inc.
