I texted my dad and told him I was on my way to becoming an electrician. He texted me back and said thank you jesus
My mom said the same thing 😂

I am a indian certified electrician now I want to work in USA as a electrician. .............. Anybody can said me how can I get the work visa ( job sponsorship) from USA 🇺🇸 ?? PLEASE REPLY ME 🙋
When I mentioned that being an electrician was an idea I had, my mom went on a rant that lasted a couple hours (about how miserable it is as a job). And now every day she makes little digs at the career. But, she doesn't care what I do with my life... as long as I get a bachelor's degree first.
I was an electrician in Colorado from 1992 to 2000, and licensed (RW) the last 6 years of that. I left the trade in 2000 - long story, stupid mistake - and now, at 59yo, I'm back in. Some days, it's tough, but I'm happier than I've been in 20 years. As far as misconceptions that I had: I assumed that most of my effort would be in knowledge of electrical principles and calculations, and while those are definitely part of the story, I noticed that the most important thing for me was simply knowing the Code; what is permitted, and what is not.
At this moment, my biggest struggle is finding the right tool belt. I'm using my old one, which I love, but I've lost so much weight, it hard stays up anymore. lol
Tradesmen are definitely not dump - some of the installs are amazing
perfect timing, im 18 and if i get in the ibew, ill be working very soon. I have no experience and im kinda nervous, but i think ill be fine and im starting my career early.

I don’t know a single person who thinks being an electrician is a bad job
Fun job I love it but I will say a lot of the time the person training can make or break an apprentice
Hey man, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos. I just turned 29 and I’ve been thinking about looking in to this career and thinking an apprenticeship or maybe school? I don’t know anything about the trade at all. I’ve been in human services for 7+ years working with people with developmental disabilities in grouphomes/day programs. I took some wiring in high school, like wall sockets and such. My question is I guess is it a hard thing to get in to? And should I look in to an apprenticeship or school? As I’m someone who needs a lot of on the job training and I struggle in a classroom setting. Thanks for the videos dude they’re enlightening and encouraging!
Curious for an update? I have a similar path that youve outlined. Everyone says something different.
Had a family member hook me up with a job, went amazing. LONG story short I moved across the country and I’ve spent the last 6 months trying to get into the Union. (Even with experience) just impossible, just now learning I have the option of trade school etc. I hate to sound stupid but I’ve just never had guidance and have had to learn myself. If you have any suggestions on contacting companies and to start on that path it would be more than appreciated. Also I truly appreciate you bringing awareness to this line of work as I know many people who’s life’s could benefit so much from these careers.
does it cost money
@@DripFlowin The Union gives you education that they pay for and provide you a job. Schedules very as you can go to school in the morning then work later in the day. But good luck getting into your local Union as it can take months. If you know anyone in construction it’s best to go through them to get you in. If not you can contact companies and work for them who will help you get into trade school but you have to pay for that or the company will cover it for you, completely depends. At the moment I’ve personally given up on the Union (last attempt will be in Feb) and in contact with many companies on trade school.

Great Vid. Would you recommend school educated or apprenticeship? Thanks
Apprenticeship all they way. I would not recommend school
@@americanelectrician Thanks for the response. If I might ask, why would you not recommend school? TIA
@@calebroberts8560Apprenticeships is both work and school. You’ll learn on the job during the day, take classes during the evening/night. You’ll be paid cause you’re working, and you’ll still be receiving an education. If you can’t find an apprenticeship, then find a really good accredited trade school. Otherwise, you can call up local electrical contracting companies to ask if you can start as a helper/apprentice and see if they are willing to help you find a good program to start your electrical career.
Hope this helps, stay blessed my friend.
Here, because I just saw you with Roger Wakefield👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey man I appreciate you coming over! Glad to have you here. Roger is the man!

Its so interesting how you said your preconceptions that unintelligent people got into the trades.
I thought the same thing too and went to college and got my degree and worked in a white collar job but I HATE corporate culture. Its so shallow and whiney and everyone is in this weire rat race where none of it really matters.
I have an interview with my local IBEW and I'll be testing for the local pipefitters soon and I'm so pumped to be getting into a job where i work with my hands and actually build something and its real.
I had the same misconceptions and thats what kept me away for so long, but preparing for the electrician test to interview and then the career stuff on RUclips i actually cant believe how tough it is.
what’s do u mean u can’t believe how tough it is?
I’m choosing ABC apprenticeship route because I don’t want to wait another year to get in IBEW. Will I make less than IBEW electricians? Don’t those union guys get the first dibs on the high paying commercial jobs?
So do you think you should go to school or just join a company or like a union
I would skip trade school if at all possible. I would call like 5 local companies and ask what their hiring process is like

You won’t regret it

Hi sir, I will shamelessly ask for your opinion in my case of a possible breaker fault at my home, would you please kindly tell me your opinion and what do you think about the situation is? So, yesterday our electricity suddenly gone off on 11AM hot day, then I tried to go reset the breaker on and off after 24 hours as I suspect that it can be just a brownout from our electricity provider or we got cut off, While I tried to check, and flick the circuit breakers and it's switches, there's just one light flickering while main switch is on, weak light and flickering.. My uncle and I is confused because we thought the connection is completely cut off according to the electricity provider business center but there's that one weak fickering bulb in our kitchen and or bathroom, depends on what we switch on.
