I am using daikin inverter AC since 2014. My feedback is its a good AC. You have to do regular service to get best cooling. But unfortunately its PCB got some issue, & today i changed it. Indoor pcb cost Rs. 6020 plus service charges.
Inverter AC Maintance is high compared to Normal AC.
But yes it saves a lot of money in electricity.
If you are a heavy user of AC then go for Inverter.

I was told energy saving is a gimck. When actually compared how much electricity used between same power Inverter AC and Normal AC unit, no significant cost saving (I.e. 10% saving electricity saving). But the initial cost and long term maintenance cost are much higher for Inverter AC unit. From cost effective point of view, domestic use is not worth. For commercial and industrial use it may be economical.

I have real experience, I bought a brand Carrier spitted type Air conditioner and was certified dead 12 month later (not the mechical part failure > but only the minor component of the circuit board for control the variable frequency failure....)
The technician said that manufacturer will only replace the failure full circuit board instead of repair the failure electronics component (only guarantee free circuits board replacement for next 12 months > but owner need to re-erect scaffold for technican's access during the replacement at onwer's cost again).
As the machine was installed at the wall panel of high riase building, it need expensive scaffold erection cost (same cost as the machine🥴)
The technican recommended me using another brand new traditional machine "i.e. fixed frequency type machine without complicated electronic control circuit board" for avoiding future circuit board failure...
As the cost for replacement is too expensive in my case (erecting scaffold outside the wall panel at high rise building).
So whether AC convertor technology are save cost is case by case. In my case, I avoid AC inverter machine due to not reliable control board able to function without maintenance upto 5 years or longer. So I prefer to use traditional machine, which has proof record for no maintenance at least for 60 months.

Start up or Motor Inrush current, agree that it can as high as 3x the Full load current, but this inrush current is needed only fraction of a second. What is the EER and SEER of the inverter AC? Of course if the AC is hooked up to solar energy system then it won't effect you bill at all.

Inerter ac is also better for heating than normal ac. Normal ac cant heat if the outside temperature is below -5°C (theoretically, practically it's struggling at 0°C already) and inverter can. If price difference in your country is only 10-15% I would buy inverter with no doubt. In my country (I mean in whole europe probably) price difference between the inverter and non inverter are like 40% and still we do reccomend inverters as better choise.

however when the PCB of the inverter AC has malfuntioned, it would be difficult and expensive to replace since there are 2 one in the indoor unit the other in the outdoor. Conventional AC can be converted to manual once the PCB malfunctions.

Inverter unit is like disposable unit, they give 5 to 10 years for the compressor, because they knew that the circuit board or inververt board will damage first, if any abnormality in the operation of the unit, and the warranty of inverter board is only 1 years, and if its damage after the due date, the price of the board is more or less a half price of the new unit.... And they telling a 50 to 80% energy saving? No its not... But for your curiosity buy one and let say what is your feed back regarding inverter unit.

Some inverter AC compressors do turn off under certain circumstances. For example, if the temperature is set to anything higher than 24°C in a small room (such as bedrooms), the compressor might turn off, especially during a rain. However, when it restarts, it instantly adjust to its lowest speed instead of starting at high power

Seems like you forgot to talk about the cost that might incur when one or more electronic board in the inverter AC gets damaged. For example you might think that you have saved ₹10, 000 annually in electricity bill. And when an electronic board in the inverter AC got damaged, in average it would cost around ₹10, 000 and the availability of the spares is questionable. Now decide which is better.

Thanks for perfect info. I need to know a specific thing. In piston type only 2 types of control signals: ON-signal, when temp is more.. and OFF-signal, when temp is less.
So what are the signal types in inverter type? And is it possible to convert them to be only the 2 ON and OFF signals?

No, the power to the outside unit is supplied from the power terminals present on the inside unit.
